A groggy voice getting increasingly more disbelieving "Wha- who...what?"
chittering
Still bewildered "Yes, I...but..."
chittering
"Seriously..." A sigh. "No, no thank you, I don't need any rum."
sound of papers shuffling
"Ah. Well, at least this is something I'm more or less used to. I suppose I can do this."
Throat clearing
"Good morning, this is Jonathan Sims, the Ar...erm, well, the radio news announcer, I suppose? I've got some notes here delivered by squirrel for me to read.
"Yesterday morning, a man named Goose took an early morning run around the island as if making note of everything on it.
"Summer, who was very kind to me the night before, was inventorying the stock at Turtle & Canary. She dared me to try the chop suey squishy, but I knew better than to take her up on it. Nevertheless, she handed me a letter that had mysteriously appeared in her mail addressed to me, informing me that I was now the live-in manager of her apartment building, despite my never having approached anybody about such a position. I have been assured that this is normal and in no way ominous.
"A woman named Margo stood on the causeway, looking out toward the mainland, fuming, until rabbits popped up to yell at her, a few words at a time, delivering a message of dire consequences. She yelled back that she was alive and in Maryland.
"And at The Devil's Nest, John Silver was drinking rum while Tiny mumbled in the distance.
"Ahem. Well, the rabbits are certainly something new. And that's all?"
chittering
"Right. Do, I...ah...say anything to close it out? I don't know, like...Ah, I see. Well, good-bye then, and...oh?"
chittering
"What, every week? How many - never mind. Right, at the radio station from now on. Got it. Well, I suppose I'll read all this again next week, then. Good-bye for now."
