Thursday, July 19th, 2018 06:50 amHey, good morning everyone out there listening...or afternoon or evening or whatever time it is when you get around to listening to this. It's Amaya Blackstone here, with another look at the things that happened Wednesday, and we'll just get right to it.
At the SCHOOL, in the library, Peridot was deep into her research, and not much happened in the DORMS.
The morning in TOWN started with Ray...turning into a rey...down at the beach. So, if you thought your morning was rough...Nate opened the C.I.C. and got things going even without the boss-man there, and Breq did her best to ignore the Silence at Groovy Tunes. Peter moved the dogwood away from some meowing plants at Covent Garden Flowers; Hernando popped in looking for Pick your Poison, but stuck around to get to know Peter and his shop a little. No word from the squirrels on if he ever did make it to Pick your Poison, though, where Sparkle was cleaning and assured Kaidan that he wasn't cleaning because he was pissed or worried, except that...well, he was. But it's okay, because Kaidan was there so they could talk about Sparkle's fe-- *grunt* talk about his feel-- *sigh* his feelings. Ugh! There. Anyway, in less fe...urg, feelings related news, Seivarden avoided the summer activities but came back to the park to enjoy the day with her cat.
And, finally, we reach this week's Summer Activity, which involved...cooking. So I knew I was pretty much out right from the get-go. Still, people arrived and mingled in various states of excitement or interest. Or dread, more likely, in the case of Dr. Lector, despite Iris and Eliot's...sure, we'll call it support.
The first challenge involved making cookies decorated to look an awful lot like the teaching staff here this summer at Fandom High. Beaker and Karla started making noodles for Skywalker's hair, and I think that's all I need to say about that one. Sidon tried to be encouraging for his partner Jaina, though Kitty had a better time encouraging her partner Mitsutada by pointing out that baking's pretty much just chemistry. Which is almost exactly what Aphra told her partner Kanan. Jono didn't seem too on board with Astrid's suggestion that they just brood at the cookies to bake them, while Reno and Gratuity made a plan to divide and conquer: one handling the baking while the other did the decorating. Zack and Hernando got together and talked about the subject of their cookie, Iris, while Cristina and Ahsoka discussed the merits of just buying them at the store and avoiding the fish, the latter of which seemed to mostly be on me and Aloy's minds, too.
Everyone had the chance to present their cookies, and the squirrels (and judge Eliot) seemed to like Gratuity and Reno's Skywalker-cookie in particular.
And, if making cookies with teacher's faces wasn't enough, round two involved cake decorating. Speficially, decorating a cake to look like the castle. But, once again, the teams forged forward with the attempt. Gratuity and Reno decided to try to make theirs just explode...I'm part proud and part concerned, to be honest. Cristina decides that no one should have time for that, not even with handwavey floating abilities that Ahsoka assures her would actually take more time that just doing it regular.
In the end, though, as always, only one team could win, and that team was Hernando and Zack, who seemed far more exciting about winning than most people would be these days.
And that's all she wrote. Tune in next week for more fish-winning-and-or-avoiding shenanigans and other things about-town. Thanks for listening. Until next time, Fandom, be bold. Don't eat cookies with your teachers' faces. I can't be alone in thinking that's just weird.
