fandom_radio | Radio Tryout Time, Yay!

The time of year when we look for radio talent! And we’re looking for a few good men/women/talking animals to become the island's voice for the fall.

Students, teachers, townies, newcomers, old hands—everyone is welcome to try out.

Beginning Monday, August 30 (the first full week with all the newbies), everyone who’s interested—new talent and old talent—will have an on-air audition (meaning that they’ll do a recap for everyone to read that goes up between 11 and 1 o'clock Eastern Time, generally. It’ll also give them an idea of how much time the coding will take and give them a final chance to flee from the chaos).

We’ll then put up a poll and you’ll all get to vote for the seven people/things who will be bringing the news to Fandom for the fall.

This is also your chance to do a one-off: if you've always wanted to do radio for just one night, here's the place to volunteer for it! You can also sign up here to volunteer to become an honorary squirrel, one of our intrepid research staffers. Since interest was expressed in just how links are collected and summarized in the last open forum, if you are interested in trying to be on the research staff, you can also sign up here to volunteer for just through the tryout session. After the tryouts are completed you can then decide if you want to stay or run screaming into the distance ala a Warner Brothers cartoon.

I know this is the kind of up-in-the-air comment that is probably irritating, but:

I'd like to step back to backup squirrel for the term. However, if you're short on people, I'd stay on. Or if we get enough volunteers to split a beat three ways, I could do two regular nights.

I'm still in as back-up, although I could do the threeway tango if it'll take pressure off people. Totally Dirty.

I can switch to regular squirrel, but only on weeknights? I AM SO SORRY I'M A PAIN. I just know there's a solid chance that I'll be stuck at work until 10+ on Friday and Saturdays (and possibly Sundays.)

I'm not going to know what my school schedule is going to look like until Mid-September, so I sadly can't commit to a regular squirrel shift anymore. But! I am offering my services as back-up squirrel once again.

Oh, so many possibilities!

- I'd be down for two days a week / joining the possible threesome (although if two people already have, that's not really two days left, but I really wanted to say "threesome"
- I could swing a full-ish lates shift more easily than a regularly timed shift. My hours are weird like that.
- If nothing else, I'm staying on as back-up.

Is this starting to feel like a logic puzzle yet? The woman with two dogs had the shift just after the girl who plays Fred, but just before the person on a Macbook ....
