Fandom Radio, August 5

Katchoo: -- IN THE FRIKKIN' BOOTH ALREADY, YOU STUPID --

Lacey: Okay, okay, ow! We're in . . . oh, gosh, did you hear that?

Katchoo: Heard it. Heard a lot of it. They're just shadows. Don't let it get to you. The mutant roaches, on the other hand . . .

Lacey: Ugh. Oh, we're on. Uh, hi, Fandom? Lacey Burrows here, with my former cohost --

Katchoo: -- and temporary bodyguard, apparently. Hopefully if you're hearing this, you're somewhere safe. 'cause lemme tell ya, right now it ain't out there, and oh, God . . .

Classes

Lacey: Okay, okay, let's take a minute and read the class notes first, to calm down, all right?

Katchoo: Calm down? CALM DOWN? Something got Francine out there, you dingy broad, and you want me to calm down?!?

Lacey: . . . give me those. The Pen Is Mightier has its teacher again, ironic given the trend for the day, and had to come up with a short story about escaping from a hole in the ground. After some discussion about hole-in-the-ground escaping skills, everyone got to writing, although Raven mentioned something to Karla about being in pain but not knowing why. Battlefield Tactics didn't waste any time: after instructions from Kerrigan, everyone ran through a simulation where they had to take out eight violent soldiers using only what they could find at the building site. Hopefully Dru and Kennedy's discussion about the bad feeling Dru has about today didn't get them in trouble with Kerrigan.

Katchoo: A bad feeling. Gee. Ya think? *BLEEP*'S JUST FRIKKIN' DISAPPEARING OUT THERE.

Lacey: Katchoo, I think people have noticed by now. If not, now they know. Sing Like a Pirate learned the, uh, Clean Song from Jack Sparrow, which they had to sing on board the ship after the usual dressing up like pirates. Great Trials got a lecture about the trials of Nuremberg and Mary, Queen of Scots, as examples of jurisdiction, then discussed jurisdictional boundaries and those two trials in specific. Alex Cabot knows her stuff, boy. Self-Defense learned -- after warmups -- their stuff about sparring, with the chance to spar one-on-one with Faith. Arching 101 learned about henchperson duty, and I'm not asking how herpes duty has to do with anything, though I assume they went over that in the lecture. After a tour of henchperson duties that include the . . . ahem . . . aforementioned, and sexbots, and less embarrassing things like apology letters, the students got to go home, while 21 and 24 . . . flirted with the sexbot.

Ordinarily I'd feel much more traumatized by having to report this, but I'm fresh out of trauma to spare tonight.

Nobody knows who Drake was talking to in his office hours, but at least one half of the conversation was repoted. Raven dropped in to see Anakin as usual and tried to call off the meeting on account of pain, but he was more interested in asking her questions about it. Loki and Fraser both disappeared during their office hours. Oh, gosh, I'm not liking this trend. In the library, Henry got a cookie from a Yeats-reciting Anemone, which is a little spot of cheer in today, at least?

Dorms/Cabins

Lacey: Yep, Raven definitely woke up in pain today. Kyle was out at the Gobstopper campfire this morning with a raccoon and a magpie, and presumably an increasing pile of shiny things after a while.

Katchoo: Yeah. Assuming none of 'em disappeared. Or turned into a cat, like Elena did in front of Rosalind over in Zagnut. Jonas didn't disappear, but he was lookin' creeped out at the main campfire. Asuna wasn't too happy about the giant frikkin' bugs and creepy shadows she was seeing, so both of 'em decided they weren't just imagining that stuff. Nope. Not just you.

Lacey: Definitely not just you. Sookie wanted to know if Jonas knew of a school trip today, because there weren't as many people around as usual. He thought there could be a reasonable explanation, but . . .

Katchoo: Well, people disappearing is reasonable. In its own special what the hell, island way. Alex Karev disappeared. Right off the edge of the dorm roof, trying to get away from a giant attack cockroach. God, I can't even make a smartass joke about this. Kate couldn't find Bod over at Gobstopper cabin, Clark was trying to do some research on this latest pain in the ass until Cara showed up -- after crawling out of a hole in the preserve with Jo and Calvin -- and Claudia, Peter, Jono, Jane, Alex Russo, Didi, and James all disappeared around the campground. Jesus Christ. Dru was keeping watch out on the Skittles cabin steps, but for all the good that'd do.

Town

Lacey: Oh, no, and we're just getting started. Christian, Ino and Zack, Goose, and Katniss all disappeared while in the preserve. Reno, Beka and Pounce, Azula, and Tahiri were spotted and then not at various points on the beach. Warren and Hinata were in the park when they disappeared, like Luke. Farnsworth, Hannibal, Lindsay, Bruce, Price, Alex Cabot, Quinn and Emma, Rinoa and Squall, and Sookie and Bobby all disappeared around town.

Katchoo: Good frikkin' god . . . Atlas Gym took Dimitri, Rose-the-bobcat, John, and Jessi with it when it disappeared. Like Mitchell's house did with him, and Castiel was in the church when it went. Cally and Paige didn't disappear along with 33 Apocalypse, but Nicky was inside when it did. Ender disappeared at Stark Industries, and Ben went after him. Moobyland's gone, and Tim Drake disappeared in front of Jason at the site. No disappearances above Wellspring Arms -- Cable and Deadpool were guarding Jan from the giant frikkin' bugs.

Lacey: James showed up at the Gig to find Helen gone. Dani Reese was fielding weird calls at the trooper station, including one from Aphrodite, who had giant roaches to deal with at Decadent Delights. Until it disappeared while Aphrodite and Dani were arguing over who got to exterminate the critters, and Karla showed up just in time to see it. And at Luke's --

Katchoo: Oh, god.

Lacey: -- you got there to find out Francine was gone, too. Oh, gosh, no wonder . . .

Katchoo: Don't. Just don't. Leia disappeared during dinner with Anakin, too. Scully was deep in research mode at the clinic until Rosalind showed up to walk her back to the campground after her shift. Looks like they made it back safe. Millie was accounted for at Book Haven, and so was Hoshi at the Arms even though Porthos wouldn't stop barking. Tara got the lowdown on the disappearing buildings from Kennedy at the Magic Box. And Caritas doesn't have any reported disappearances. On Chuck Bass's shift. Figures. Dinah and Momoko ended up fighting crap out where Taste of Thai used to be, instead of dinner. And they haven't disappeared.

Lacey: But a lot of people have.

Katchoo: Yeah, look, we know the radio's got a rep for not gettin' stuff right. But if you think we're making this up tonight to mess with you? *BLEEP* you. This isn't a joke.

Lacey: Everyone, please be careful, okay?

Katchoo: Please. It's frikkin' insane out there.
