Fandom Radio, January 19
Lacey: Evening, Fandom! Happy Tuesday, and thanks so much for voting to put us back on the air! This is Lacey Burrows.
Katchoo: And - oh yeah. Katina Choovanski.
Lacey: Boy, you're awfully cheerful for someone who just stopped being a bunny.
Katchoo: And I will cheerfully hurt you if I have to.
Classes
Lacey: Can't we just be cheerful without the violence? No? Just me? Oh, fine. Magical Ethics got a lecture on powers, and what kind of limitations should be put on them. Karla and Raven passed notes while this was going on, and then everybody got into a huge group discussion about limitations on powers. Edmund and Tony the TAs were present, as was my fellow Canadian Alysha. Ethics talked about the Golden Rule, featuring a --
Katchoo: Golden, my --
Lacey: -- lecture from Anakin, and the class trying to answer his questions about the Golden Rule as put into practice. Griff had questions, too, for Anakin, about why he should care about other people if they don't care about him. That . . . sounds a little . . .
Katchoo: Like not your business, maybe.
Lacey: . . . like that. Which isn't what I was going to say, but. *sigh* Anakin was around to talk to, of course. Along with his hair. The squirrels seem to really like that. Aaaaaaaaand Monomyths got a lecture on the typical beginnings of the masculine and feminine journeys. If you needed help, there were film clips, always useful, or the TAs, Anemone and Blysse. Concepts of Law and Justice talked about a concept called mens rea. Which is the concept that you have to act knowingly in order to commit a crime. As far as ambitions go --
Katchoo: Shut it, Lacey. The lecture was packed with note-taking. Nerds. All of you, with the note-taking and then the discussing the committing of crimes and geez, this is cheerful subject matter, and it gets worse when you realize the next discussion question was about honor killings. Karla, Kurt, and Alex were around to talk to, for you social people. Difficult Women class . . . shared experiences with difficult women. Max shared an example, then it was storytime." Ooooooooooooooh. Exciting.
Lacey: And the library was manned by Anemone today, and Henry was around, though I'm not sure if he was as into the comic books as she seemed to be.
Katchoo: Eh. Who knows? Fraser the Mountie was dealing with a stack of paperwork in his office, and Mitchell got visits from Chloe and Francine -- huh -- before Kate showed up about serious coffee business and dragged him off to the Perk.
Dorms
Lacey: Reserves met as usual, today with sandwiches but no cookies.
*chittering*
Lacey: I know. Somewhere in all the mingling, Ino asked Gabrielle about some new injuries of hers.
Katchoo: And Tiny Creepy kid sucked face with Ben because they have to do this every frikkin' week or somethin'. Everybody got to split up into teams and try to figure out how to get onto the school grounds if they're bein' defended, and report back to either Zack or Arthur. You're all crazy. Dinah was up on the roof tonight, and ended up giving Bruce the scary Cliffs Notes version of 'em.
Lacey: And Jaina was in the third floor common room watching Wormhole X-Treme, and I do love that show, but I don't go "Nuh-uh!" at the TV while I'm watching.
Katchoo: No, you just kept complaining. A lot. Zayne showed up and they compared notes on classes, Wendy the Werewolf Stalker -- I still really hate that one kid from the last season -- and hero journeys or whatever. Hayley thought Zayne asking what was on meant he'd never seen a TV before. . . . yeah.
Lacey: Clark gave Jaina a crash course in crazy Earth sci-fi fans -- good luck with that someday, Jaina -- and Hayley didn't get why Jaina kept making disapproving noises because all the planets on the show have identical forests. Jon O'Neill probably didn't help much, confusing her with stuff about how the show is based on a version of him and owwwwwwwwwwwww. Gunn hadn't seen it before, but he thinks going through a portal that looks like a giant toilet flushing isn't great for tourism. I'd have to agree.
Katchoo: You would. Angela and Hannibal had pizza and talked future plans and college, Andy had Raven over to introduce her to Twinkies, and I -- well, I'm not a bunny any more.
Town
Lacey: Is that why you keep nibbling your pencil?
Katchoo: SHUT UP.
Lacey: Okay, okay. Mayor Summers was mailing a letter today at Wellspring Arms, Jill was cranking the jazz at Fourth Dimension, Spock was stoic at Stark Industries, Jack Burton was doing inventory at Photo Hut, Loki was napping at MHA. At Book Haven, Hinata had a kitten to go with her books and tea, and that makes everything better, doesn't it? Kris and the Gig horses were all in an upbeat mood today, and Ino was really amused by something at Covent Garden Flowers.
Katchoo: Tim was trying to pick out comics from the inventory at Android's Dungeon, and Oz was messing around with a lute at Coyote Medicine. Karla showed up at Dite's Decadent Delights all upset about something and talked to Raven for a while; Didi was all into the gossip magazines at Turtle and Canary; Gibbs and Dani Reese discussed what was going on with the world at the Trooper Station. You might be there a while, y'know.
Lacey: Mm. By the way, for those of you who auditioned for the play, the casting announcement came out today, and rehearsal will be on Thursday. At Cabot and Associates, Fiona got a phone call from home and then got half of Alex Karev's negativity. The other half of it was directed at Griff. Tara dropped by to visit, too, and brought her roommate a gift that, let's hope, balances out some of the negativity. Jono had his guitar at Groovy Tunes, and Didi came by on her lunch break to visit and, among other things, tell him she won't date a one-name pop sensation. Ino came by too, and got Jono's help looking for Japanese music.
Katchoo: There were, according to the squirrels, no "spandex whores" in Atlas Gym on Rose's shift. There was Worf checking in on her, though. And Edmund, who had all kinds of questions about what she's studying. Kate and Mitchell had coffee at the Perk, and Mitchell got to catch up on what Kate's been up to lately. Nothing not-normal was happening for Mary at the Arms Hotel. Which, around here, is kinda news-worthy. Lion-O was practicing knot-tying on the job at Cafe Fina, Paige and Derek were at the Perk in the evening, Mat and Leia had a date at the onsen which means I can pretty much hear a few people's heads exploding already, and Robin was late to work at Caritas. And dragged a dog leash in with her. Oops.
Lacey: . . . that's it?
Katchoo: Yep. Which means . . . I'm goin' back to my room. Night, Fandom.
Lacey: You know, that really ruins the rhythm of my leadup to the closing st--
