Fandom Radio, Monday, August 24
Sam: Good evening Fandom. I always knew we'd get to this broadcast eventually.
Dean: Our last broadcast. Well, my last at least. Sammy here can keep doing them if the squirrels really want him to.
Sam: I think the squirrels and I have come to a peaceful understanding. It might be good to quit while we're even.
Dean: Aw, where's the fun in that?
Sam: It would be weird doing this without you.
Dean Awww, I'll miss you too.
Sam: Oh shut up, you're gonna make me sound all mushy.
Dean: Hey, I cut a trip at Disneyland short to be here to do this. It's my last broadcast. You're allowed to be mushy.
Sam: Yeah, okay, I guess a little bit won't hurt. Here, give me the top of the notes and I'll get started before I get too far gone.
School News
Sam: None, because we're done for the summmer. Luckily, fall classes are only a week away.
Dean: Because you wouldn't want to go into withdrawal or anything.
Sam: I could break out into hives, you never know.
Dean: Geek.
Sam: I'll take that as a compliment, thank you.
Dorm News
Sam: Aravis came back from her summer trip, and Ben stopped in to see her and fill her in on everything she'd missed. Triela welcomed Aravis back as well, and then went to talk to Ino about the mission she's being sent on.
Claudia worked on some hat designs, including a hat for Zayne, which I'm sure he appreciated very much. Priestly came by to tell Claudia he's going out of town this week, and she made sure to give him junk food for the trip. Awww.
Dean: Are you going to make sure I'm well stocked with junk food when I leave?
Sam: I might have a stash of items that I've been preparing. You'll have to find me before you leave to find out for sure.
Dean: Like I'd ever leave without telling you first.
Sam: I know you wouldn't. I'n just making sure you have more than enough incentive. Dinah's heading out of town as well - at least, I assume, since it says she was packing - and she and Claire talked about their plans for this week, and for next semester. Karla-who-is-a-kitty came by...and then she wasn't a kitty anymore and Dinah was nice and lent her some clothes. It gets easier after it's happened more than once, I swear. Shilo chatted with Dinah about her writing, and Francine came by to say that she appreciated the invite to join Dinah on her trip, but that this week just isn't a good time for that.
Triela got a letter from home about that mission she needs to go on, and Claire brought Jon takeout for dinner, and they tried to decide whether or not they could pull off taking over the dorm while everyone is away for the week. A little revolution could certainly spice the place up for a few days.
Bobby was watching TV up in the third floor common room this morning - or, at least, he was trying to find something on the TV that didn't completely suck. He and Sookie talked about the sad state of kids' shows these days while she made coffee, and he and Alex talked about how cartoons are much better than talk shows.
Dean: Can't argue with that.
Sam: And old cartoons are much better than new ones. Bobby explained the concept of advertising during kids' shows to Gabrielle, and Diana was just disappointed that there were no soap operas on yet. I'm sure Bobby was too. Really.
Angela put posters up for the cheerleading BBQ, which is going to be this Wednesday out on the deck, and you should all come because it's going to be lots of fun, I promise.
Dean: Can't. That's the day I'm leaving.
Sam: Oh. Well. I'll just have to bring the barbecue to you before you go then, won't I?
Dean: That sounds like a plan to me. Is there going to be pie?
Sam: Dean, would I ever bring you food and not bring pie?
Dean: ....Point. First time for everything though.
Sam: I won't let this be it, I promise. Speaking of the deck, Jack was out there today looking at the sky, and Elena was out on the roof to get a better view of the same thing. She was also out there to smoke, which Ben refused to join in on, even as he stopped to say hello. Layla and Elena talked about secondhand smoke and radioactive waste, because those are two things that go perfectly together, and Spock came up and got teased by Elena.
Dean: Teasing -- always a fun pastime.
Town News
Dean: Down in town, Daisy transcribed radio broadcasts at the Trooper Station, Rachel pondered redecoration at MCA, Alex-who-is-a-girl was reading a magazine at the Magic Box, Vida read Vogue at Covent Garden Flowers, and Worf went through bat'leth exercises at Wellspring Arms. Bat'leth... sounds like something named by someone with a lithp.
Oz was working at the Holiday Grove, Irulan opened the hat shop and dealt with paperwork, and Turtle found stuff to do at T&C. Miss Bennet tidied up the Book Haven, where Valentine dropped by to ponder buying books on dead philosophists or physicists. I bet some of the dead philosophists had philosophies on pondering buying books. I buy, therefore I read, or something.
Lacey tried to sweet talk her MyZoo animals at Luke's Diner, where Kyle, Bobby and George chatted about knife fighting and food as they ate. Y'know, just your average small chat over lunch.
Over at Stark Industries, Ender was working on a holographic projector when Ben came by to tell him that Aravis was back and to taunt him with the offer of coffee if he was good. Cable was at the town hall with Jan. He was working and Jan was doing... Jan things. Which I suspect look an awful lot like Gracie things. Jack Skellington came by to ask about Cable's plans for Halloween. I'll tell you what usually happens around here. There's trick or treating through town and you get lots of candy and loot and stuff. I'm going to miss doing that this year.
Sam: Hey, I won't have anyone to drag me out this year. I don't know if I'll miss that.
Dean: Gracie's old enough to start getting the gist. You can take her.
Sam: She might be a little young for the candy.
Dean: Then she'll just have to share with you, won't she? Aphrodite was still giving away free vibrators as she tried to decide what to put in the fishbowl. I suppose fish would just be too obvious an answer, huh? Anyway, Shilo came in to ask how to vote and get a vibrator. Dinah came by and told Dite what's been going on and then voted to get a free vibrator. As one does. Dite also offered Chuck Bass a demonstration after he got his free vibrator. See, that isn't something that happens just anywhere. I'm going to miss this place.
Sam: I'll call you the next time all the sex stuff stops working, and we'll see how much you miss it then.
Dean: Like you're not going to miss this place when you leave next year. Weirdness and all. At 25 Unicorn tonight there was a Chad Show party. Boo seemed to be tempting Fred with a cupcake. This led to Fred telling Daisy that he thought he was tripping because he kept seeing nothing but cupcakes. Which, hey, cupcakes are awesome so at least it's not a bad trip. Max was there, and Minsc welcomed newcomer Castiel. Okay, picturing Cas at a Chad Show party is definitely making me chuckle.
Sam: At least he's getting introduced to reality television with a good show?
Dean: Gotta be hard to explain modelling to an angel though. Fred was unhelpful in aiding Glinda in getting the keg to go. Possibly because he was tripping out on cupcakes. Luckily, Minsc was able to teach Glinda how to tap a keg. Minsc also welcomed Daisy, Rachel, and Arya.
Everyone watched the show, and hung out afterward, and Arya and Daisy stuck around to help clean up.
Sam: After all this time, it still seems weird to talk about our teachers being social and all.
Dean: Our Dad married the principal. I think we should take social teachers in stride after that.
Sam: Maybe, but it's easier said than done.
Dean: You just don't like it when things don't fit in the boxes you've assigned them. *beat* Dork.
Sam: What can I say, I like it when things are in order. Are those all of the notes you had?
Dean: Looks like. You?
Sam: Yeah, unless the squirrels have been hiding some under their fur.
Dean: Nah. That's where they hide the rum.
Sam: We should go get drinks. To...I don't know, celebrate?
Dean: Sounds good to me.
Sam: Then I guess it's time for us to say good night.
Dean: Good night, Fandom. And farewell, try not to get into too much trouble when I'm gone.
Dean: Our last broadcast. Well, my last at least. Sammy here can keep doing them if the squirrels really want him to.
