Willow: Hello Fandom! This is Willow Rosenberg who, as far as you know, is just in from prom and will be getting back to said prom immediately because she has found said prom to be very snuggly - um, I mean dancey and fun. So tonight's news shall be quick and pithy! Except for how there's a ton of it, but you get what I mean.

Xander: What she said. About the quick. I'll get back to you on the pithy once I've looked it up and verified that it means what I think it means.

Willow: I'll email you the meaning later. In the meanwhile

School! Which is over which is SAD AND WRONG

We kick off today's reasons to be depressed with Karal opening the library for the last time. I'd like to clarify that this is the last time for him as the library itself will continue to be opened. It'd better be, or else heads will roll. Possibly due to the books in Special Collections not getting fed. Liir came by with lunch and got the details about what to expect over the summer. At other schools this is a fun brochure, here it's a warning. Andrew came by to be excited about promming and tripping. Though I think the latter is in the sense of a journey somewhere and not in the sense of a sudden drop to the ground. John came by to find out trip details as well, as apparently Jaina is going. I think we can all rest assured that Jaina is able to choose wisely on the things she participates in, as she's the one of the two people who look like her who is not dating the inferior Peter. QED.

Xander: Quit eating dirt?

Willow: I wouldn't put that past the other one, no. Anyway, Art History had a final. Students had to write an essay about why art is a universal constant. I say because you can't keep stick figures down. You may try, but they'll band together to defeat you. Then possibly go on to save the world, assuming that they are not evil.

Art of Cool had their final. Which was an obstacle course involving high heels, balls, shooting your all, making loud, rhytmic noises, begging, and pouting. I'm not sure why that makes the squirrels giggle, but there we are.

My Country had its final. It was a game of capture the flag, or possibly capture the fish. Hopefully not in a barrel because that's just mean. The noble nation of Gremlinistan has a very beautiful flag with many colors which signify how special a certain someone is.

Inappropriately Named Club had its last meeting. They talked about how to say goodbye in various languages and you are not allowed to make me cry on prom night! There will be mascara streaks and horribleness. The convenors were there to convenoring, and the librarian was there as well.

In news of an hourly nature, the office was asleep while Glitch got a visit from Liir who wanted to talk about what to do over the summer. He's understandably at loose ends without Karal to give lunch to. I do not mock. I remember when I first got here I found regular lunches with a certain someone to be one of the things that got me through the day.

Dorms, where it's all about the outfits.

Teyla was in the gym. Jamie joined her and was distracted by her outfit. Was it shiny? Sometimes things can be distracting if they're shiny. Oo! Or made of books.

In the common room that was not nor ever will be cool, Jack set up an anti-prom and that's all I'm reporting on that as all other news regarding who or what joined him is simply disturbing and so I'm not going to go there.

Meanwhile in the actually cool common room, Ino decided to prove there could be fun without formality, and I say good on her.

Xander: In a turn of events that surprises only people who've been in suspended animation for the last eighty-five years and just woke up five minutes ago, most of the goings-on in the students' rooms today were about getting ready for Prom, unless you're Ino who got a visit from Karal, Valentine who got a visit from Jamie, Haku who told Teddy he's going home, or DOOOOM - was that enough O's? Who didn't tell anybody, he just left.

Everybody else though? Pretty much Prom. Annette talked to her folks about it on the phone, then got a visit from Ino who came for explanations and stayed for a fashion show. Dōjima and Rikku had one too, the getting ready kind, and so did Eve and Gwynn, and the Dawnster and Meg. Lee wasn't going to go Prommin', but Ferris showed up and convinced him it'd be a good time - aww, mazel tov. Best of luck to you two.

Turtle got picked up by talks about boobs a lot only this time it was ankles dude, Annette got picked up by initials dude, Mel got picked up by remember I still have the no-touchy stick dude, Summer got picked by it's about freakin' time dude, Savannah got picked up by great balls of fire dude, Lana got picked up by no seriously lady you're going to Prom with me dude, Evey got picked up by no you cannot has peek at my dress dude, Katara got picked up by no seriously doubleyouteeeff you forgot to ask her to Prom dude, the Best Roomie Ever got picked up by you better treat her right or not only is there a no-touchy stick but I'll sic your aunts on you dude, my lovely co-host got picked up by the best British-accented King in all the land, Zero who's actually in town, hi Zero, but we're on a getting picked up roll so anyway, got picked up by dresses a lot like me dude, Rikku got picked up by isn't getting hit upside the head dude and you'll understand that when I get to the Town section, and Adah got picked up by nobody, but that's okay because she looked damn hot anyway.

*squeakity*

Xander: Excuse me, let me spell that word out for them then, since the squirrels think I can't pronounce it right: h-a-w-w-w-t.

Hey, did you know there were other places open in town today besides the Prom tent? Us neither.

Xander: In town, shockingly, a few people did stuff that wasn't about getting picked up. Mostly because Caritas wasn't open. On the slow-day list, we've got Gabriel at the church, Liir at Book Haven, Chad at Groovy Tunes, Lacey at Luke's Diner, Sky at the Banana Stand, Charlotte at the York Gallery and I'll be by to check on the stove soon, by the way, and Jen and Tom at Pizza Planet.

Sora was busier at Turtle and Canary, but kind of down in the dumps. Rikku came in shopping for baby stuff--

*squeaksqueak*

Xander: --not for her, good. That sound you heard was me putting away the no-touchy stick instead of touching somebody upside the head with it. Meanwhile Cable made a phone call while he... oh, heh. Took care of a baby. Good thing I put the stick away, 'cause I'm thinking I'd be a greasy smear on the road outside Wellspring Arms if I'd tried touching him upside the head. Speaking of Wellspring Arms, Rikku opened it today, and did some gawking at Cable and the you know if I had these notes in some kind of chronological order it just wouldn't be anywhere near as fun, would it? Jack Burton stopped in to see if the place still looked the same -- as what, my notes don't say -- did a giant robot step on it? That happens sometimes. And then Rikku came back later with baby stuff from T&C. As you do.

River opened the Arms Hotel, and Zero checked in -- HI ZERO! -- and Dōjima showed up to reserve a room for later tonight.

Doogie opened the clinic for Katara so she can boogie the night away, and because he's the smartest doctor ever, he put out free condoms so you can boogie the night away.

SPEAKING OF BOOGIE NIGHTS

Xander: Before there's a Prom, there's a tea. With skeletons. As you do. And then...

Willow: There's prom! People arrive which is good since otherwise it's not so much prom as a big party space with nobody to appreciate it. Amongst those arriving are Chris and Summer, Jeff and Turtle, Mac, River, Johnny and Savannah, Amber, Dojima and Romeo, Z, Teyla, Lucas, Sokka and Mel - hi Mel! Liir and Andrew, Ron, Billy - hi Billy! Carmela, Troy and Sky, Marco, Dick and Veronica - ew! Cimorene, Bridge and Xander - who are understandably paused at the moment - Karal and Evey, Shawn and Lana, Isabel and Wyatt, Ferris, Eve, Bel, Phoebe, and my cooking study buddy, Lee, Katara and Zuko, Sam and Dawn, Peter and Zero, Jim and Pam, John and Jaina, Chad and Teddy, inferior Peter and Brooke, Dean and Meg, Rikku and Reno, Luke and Jo, and Adah.

Xander: Speaking of, where there's a Prom, there's shadowy corners, except it's outside so it's more like shadowy shrubberies, and Mac, Lee and the squirrels can't spell hottie were hanging out in them tonight.

In the corner where the food lives, Mel got some for Sokka, Sky got educated by Troy on the entire point of a punchbowl at Prom, and Balls of fire boy had pretty much the same conversation with Eve. He also asked my roomie to dance, and she also talked to Ronan about the very Sunnydaley skeletons. Meanwhile Dick and Veronica -- hey, V! -- talked about dirty phone calls.

About damn time boy thanked my boy for setting him up with his girl, who got asked by Lana if she minded that her ex-boy went with another girl, and she didn't. I hope you're all keeping track of this stuff, because at this point all I know is who I'm going home with tonight.

Willow: Some chose to commemorate the occasion with photos. There were backdrops A, B, and C though no backdrop Z since, while she is pretty, it would be weird to have her eyes staring over everyone in their pictures. Those who got photos were Lana and Shawn, Chris and Summer, and perhaps others who were too shy to have their names mentioned.

Now darn near everybody knows it's not a prom without dancing - well dancing, punch that tastes funny, possibly awkward encounters in hotel rooms, hairstyles that you may regret in ten years, but primarily the dancing. Those who not only got down but also boogie-oogie-oogied were Sokka and Mel, Carmela and Ronan - let that be a lesson to everyone that if you are a guy and you date inferior Peter the experience will turn you straight - Johnny and Isabel, Isabel and Wyatt, Bridge and Xander, Eve, Bridge and Z, Dick and Ms. Why Is She Torturing Me By Being Here? Shawn and Summer, inferior Peter and Brooke, Peter who is dating Zero, John and Jaina, Shawn and Lana, and Chris and Summer.

Chaperones were there to chap those erones like nobody's business. River told Kerrigan she was going to dance. I'm not sure if she did so while aiming a gun at Kerrigan's feet to guarantee this would happen, but it's not impossible. Barney loses his footing - did he look behind the couch? Barney also thinks that Robin's rack is awesome. I didn't know Robin had so many magazines in need of storage. Perhaps one of the subscriptions is about the care and feeding of Mounties, as she and Fraser were seen flirting. Jean Paul chatted with Lulu, possibly about how much fun their names are to say with outrageous French accents. And Wade and Fraser talked about suits and Robin's collection of birds not normally seen in this area.

Xander: It wouldn't be Prom night without posts that break Firefox partying into the wee hours, and party we continue to do. Prom court got announced: Juniors, Katara is your queen, and you have a five-way tie for King, good luck with that: Chris Halliwell, Karal Austreban, Reno, Johnny Storm and Teddy Altman. Seniors, you are clearly the second awesomest senior class ever, since your Queen is Z Delgado and my boyfriend is the bestest non-British-accented King in all the land. After everybody reacted to that, the court danced with each other in ways that I'm pretty sure are illegal in most towns. Those towns are boring.

You never run out of mingling at these things, and the shadowy shrubbery's still there too. So was Adah, and there was also some old-home-week-in-Neptune liplockery going on.

You also never run out of food, thank God. Fireball boy, Eve, Amber and Romeo, Shawn and Lana, and Andrew all got their chances to glug the grog, excuse me, completely unspiked punch. Just in case the chaperones are listening.

And finally, they're still dancing the night away out there, at least those of you who haven't already headed off like certain balls-of-fire people to make use of those things Dr. Doogie was giving out in town today. Which is what I'm off to do. Uh, the dancing. Yeah. Because dude, I've got plenty of my own.

...MOVES. Plenty of my own---oh hell, I give up. There was much hearty grog. I'm going back to pick up my Prom King and do dirty stuff. Enjoy yourselves, Fandom.

Willow: Good night and good prom!
