Loki: I have some foul concoction in my hair that smells of coconut. I do not like whatever whimsy has taken the island.
Alex: Whine whine whine. I got hit in the head by a popsicle. I don’t even know where it came from. Maybe a bird dropped it...maybe your bird dropped it on me.
Loki: Ikol would not drop food on you. He would drop rotting meat, but not something sweet.
Alex: While it wouldn’t be the first time, keep your bird away from me.
Loki: But he is ever so fond of you!
Alex: I find that highly unlikely. Let’s get this show on the road. No news from the school because it's vacation, hooray. In the dorms, Rilla was packing to go home for a while when her hat caught fire. Oh, that sucks. And the squirrels...I think it says it was her good hat? She has multiple hats? Huh. Anyway, Firekeeper and Blind Seer went for a walk in the woods they didn't come back from.
*pause*
Alex: They went home, I mean. That wasn't meant to sound ominous. Sorry. Fear god thing.
Loki: Oh, I thought it to be an inability to read on your part.
Alex: No, I think we’ve established I can read just fine. Are you okay? Your insults are getting weaker.
Loki: Much like your wit.
Alex: See, that’s the kind of thing I’m talking about. Anyway. Susan found a raven with a letter from Dana--Dane--Dany? Dany waiting in her room. Britta's cat didn't like the raven, but it probably liked Britta showing up to rant about how the raven was slave labor and cell phones give you cancer--okaaaaaaaaaaaaay--even less. Hanna had no ravens, but she did have ice cream, which meant she probably won for the day, and Loki rounded out our raven news, and started making a care package for Da--you know what, never mind her name, "care package?" Really? What are you really sending her?
Loki: None of your concern!
Alex: I don’t even know this girl and now I’m worried about her. Great.
Loki: I am an excellent friend, thank you. In town, we have Turtle and Canary, where Hope was busy making Apu upset by her lack of work ethic. Toby followed in her example, hiding in the back of Goodvalor's kitchens. One would think those too hot on a day such as that. Wesley was at the Perk, texting when Gabrielle arrived to discuss a war god. There are so many. Who might she be referring to?
Loki: She then had to explain her injured shoulder to the nurses at the clinic.. At the Devil's Nest, Eric was cross with someone who believed a fiery drink was something a vampire would like. I'm sure it was an easy mistake to make for those soon to be pruned from their family trees. Romeo was quite enthralled by the eggs upon the beach. Sandy eggs. Ew. Peeta was learning of the upcoming holiday from people at Cafe Luke's. There is a holiday?
Alex: It’s the Fourth of July. Not today, I mean. Soon.
Loki: Yes. It will be the fourth of July soon. As it will also be the first, and the second, and the third as well.
Alex: No, you idiot, the fourth is when America declared its independence from Great Britain. So we set off rocket launchers and eat hot dogs. Actually the rocket launchers thing might just be my family.
Loki: Ah! I will enjoy this holiday then. Perhaps there will be a party!
Alex: Maybe! And maybe you won’t be invited!
Loki: Maybe I will hold one and not invite you!
Alex: Like I would come to your party anyway.
Loki: You would beg to!
Alex: I would never in a million--
