Fandom Radio, October 25
Evening, Fandom! Lacey Burrows here, and are we all ready for Halloween yet? I know, I know, it all goes really fast from here -- first Halloween, and before you know it, it's time for the all-Yule Log, all-the-time channel. I love that channel. I have it on my iPod.
Anyway, here's the news in Fandom for the day!
Classes
Food Appreciation today took a Danger Shop field trip to visit a taco truck, and sample some mobile cuisine, and oooh, I love those new gourmet ones with the fancy stuff. I'd think about starting one but, funny thing, the streets here are too small for . . . oh, like it's all that far for any of you to walk. I just want to get on that Food Network show. Guess what John was doing? Yep, eating a taco. Macro-Tactics focused less on food and more on their midterm: studying maps and cards about the opposing army and splitting into groups to wage war. As opposed to talking to the TAs or to Kerrigan. In other class news of the . . . uh, aggressive variety, Personal Weaponry learned about slings and something with too many a's in the name -- at-a-lat-l? Whatever it was besides a tool to throw other weapons longer distances, everybody got to pick one out and pair up to try them out, or they could talk to Max.
Around the World in Fifteen Weeks went to Memphis -- not the one you think of when you think of Elvis. The one in Egypt, which meant getting a lecture about its history and culture, but also a chance to explore the ruins, or the museum. Bond was available, and Kyle was exploring, but in a TA-ly capacity.
Over in the library Gabrielle was reading a book about hopscotch, while Henry got a little tangled up with the pumpkin patch that just sprouted in there.
Say, you wouldn't by any chance be interested in selling any of those pumpkins? I've got holiday pies to make, and I'm trying to go locally-grown.
It was quiet in the teachers' wing -- just Jaina working in her office, with the door closed.
In other, uh, news, the head of accounting at the school office has grown a moustache. This is evidently grounds for a warning sign.
Clubs
French Study Group got to learn about Halloween-themed words, but of course what's a club without mingling? Rilla confused Bobby McCallister by talking about 'guising, which I think means trick-or-treating. Don't quote me on that. Sookie and Emma might have been quotable on that, if anyone asked them or Henry.
Kappa Kappa Gremlin, when they weren't mingling so they could do things like have Alexander explain gummi worms to Ben, had fundraising issues to discuss today, and brainstormed ideas for a haunted house . . . including Alexander and Peter wondering exactly how much scaring is a good idea. Your intrepid club heads Alexander and Zack were around, and so was Fraser.
Dorms
Not much going on today except in the fifth floor common room, which was the place for TV tonight. First Leda found a new series on Showtime that got a, uh, rather colorful reaction out of her. Later on, Raven took over for her routine viewing of Rumor Gal, joined by Elphaba who doesn't seem to think there's much on TV worth watching. Harper wanted to know if Halloween dress-up started early this year, and found time to introduce herself to Elphaba while gushing about how much fun the show is and critiquing the fashion with Raven. Sookie and Raven were fretting about the annoying little sister coming back in this episode, and oh, gosh, I hope that wasn't a spoiler for anyone.
Luke snuck into Percy's room while he was distracted, which somehow led to a conversation about whether Luke underestimates Percy in a fight. If that was going on at the same time as Nico using Luke's video game console and yelling at the game a lot until Jason came in and had to play too as punishment for getting Nico killed, everybody's distraction is just leading to unfortunate consequences, isn't it?
Town
At that place that used to be Stark Industries and is now Fixer-Uppers, Ender and Ben were worrying about a text message they got from Karla, and making contingency plans, not to mention contemplating how the Force is like a secret decoder ring. Sergeant Angua was at the Trooper Station on duty, except for when she was visiting me at the diner where I had a -- oh, I see what you did there, clever squirrel -- "unbeleafable" amount of herbs on hand.
*chittering*
No, I will not make you a cambric shirt. Since no one had to be chased out of the Arms Hotel for overstaying the weekend, Quinn had time to decorate for Halloween instead, and over at the Gig Dani had some . . . anger management issues she was taking out on the haybales. When Zatanna wasn't dealing with Apu's crankiness at Turtle and Canary, she was writing a letter; there's no evidence that the glitterbombs Jane had to deal with at Strokes of Genius had a thing to do with Apu's crankiness, though. Although I wouldn't rule it out.
At the clinic, Ino was brushing up on her medical studies. Is that anything like those Continuing Education courses medical personnel have to take?
Hinata ran into Zack and his gerbil Mr. Winkles out in the park tonight, and while they were discussing Mr. Winkles's possible need for more of a social life, said gerbil appeared to be styling himself the supreme overlord of the ducks in the pond. Does that count as a social life? Bruce and Ino met up at Fast Eddie's so Ino could get a refresher course on playing pool and then ask Bruce if he's considered teaching -- he doesn't have the patience for it, he says.
. . . and because we just have to end the broadcast on a whimsical note, no, nobody knows why Jake turned into a mustachioed polar bear at Caritas, but at least Dani was there to be sympathetic.
And it looks like that's all for tonight, Fandom, so until next week, take care, stock up on Halloween candy, and . . . watch out for sudden moustaches. This is Lacey Burrows, signing off. Good night!
