Fandom Radio, September 20

Evening, Fandom, and happy fish-free Monday! This is Lacey Burrows, and it's that time again!

Classes

So what were you crazy kids up to learning today, huh? Macro-Tactics must've taken a lot of notes on siege strategies, and discussion of the aforementioned -- that's a neat word -- like Cally and Faramir did. TA Emma's presence could be described as smug, while Kerrigan's presence, at least when she wasn't talking to Blackagar, had more of a distant quality to it, unless my school-beat squirrel is creatively interpreting things.

*annoyed chittering*

All right, all right! I just had to disclaim it. Food Appreciation students got to hear all about the joys of Twinkies before -- oh, gosh -- racing to eat the most. Whoever wins that, possibly Momoko or Bobby Drake, let's just see if you ever eat Twinkies again. Well, you could just gain more of a taste for them, since John apparently isn't sick of them, right? Around the World In Fifteen Weeks got to take the Danger Shop tour of Florence, and hopefully appreciate the cuisine, right, Mr. Bond and TA Kyle? Intro to Personal Weaponry had a lecture on swords and stabbing things today, and if my cook is listening to this broadcast I hope he doesn't get any ideas. But you know, picking out a good set of kitchen cutlery is as involved of a process as picking out a sword, I bet. Zack and Wesley discussed Zack's sword being bigger than -- oh, stop giggling behind your paws, I'm sure it doesn't mean that. Because it's a weaponry class. Taught by Max.

Gabrielle was a little distracted in the library, where Henry was making a giraffe diorama in his office. Giraffes?

*chittering*

Giraffes! Right. It must have been that sort of day for office hours, since Jaina was laying in a stock of paper ammunition in hers.

And by the way, the office is no longer staffed by cheese. It is, however, covered in bacon strips. Perhaps in celebration of the fact that Los Angeles now has a gourmet bacon food truck?

Dorms

Boy, what is it with you kids and Monday birthday parties, huh? Today was Chuck Bartowski's birthday party up in the fourth floor common room, complete with sparkly banner and flowers for the guests. Happy birthday, Chuck! Of course people socialized. It's most of the point, isn't it? William let Ariel know that Chuck's been a good big brother so far, and had an adorable little conversation with Rilla that involved him promising he'd voted for her when he got her campaign letter. Wow, that is some amazingly forward-thinking grassroots campaigning for someone from last century, Rilla. William's aforementioned -- there's that nifty word again! -- 'big brother' Chuck checked in with him, too. Christian got an enthusiastic greeting from Rilla, who felt like it had been too long since they'd seen each other, although Ariel may have been more enthusiastic about it since she, and I quote, 'made with the tackleglompage.' Chuck's sister Ellie, co-planner of the party and sister of the birthday boy, got to meet William, and joined her co-conspirator Ariel in taking pride in their event planning. Rilla got a little blushy when Chuck offered her cake, had an election-celebration and boy-gossip conversation with Ariel, and got blush-inducing congratulations from Bruce on her Student Council victory. Lindsay got greetings and compliments on her hair from Ariel, who also had some nice things to say about Harper's . . . adventuresome conglomeration of patterned fabric. Bruce and Ariel had an awfully friendly and flattery-filled conversation, and Chuck's roommate Leia got thanked by both Ellie and Ariel for making it to the party. Considering she lives with him, it's a good idea. Diplomatic, even. James told Ariel -- after getting a flower from her -- he's not used to people having individual birthday parties.

And of course, as good parties do, they had food and cake that was not a lie, and was appreciated by the birthday boy, as were -- we hope -- his birthday greetings from Lindsay, Ariel, and Bruce. And his presents. What's not to love?

Speaking of hostesses, there were a ton of snack cakes in the fourth floor common room, where Helen was reading a book and introducing James to things like Twinkies.

. . . why so many Twinkies today? I had a bad Twinkie experience when I -- never mind.

Town

Kate was up early and at the Perk this morning, having a cigarette craving, getting snippy with Rosalind in a conversation about classes and daily routines, and talking to Elphaba about the misconceptions of Oz thanks to the stories about it.

Ender was doing some tidying-up at Stark Industries, where William got himself a job and Ben . . . got himself a silly hat. The Arms Hotel wasn't in need of cleanup, much to Quinn's relief, I'm sure. I spent all weekend digging fish scales out of the flower planters out front of Luke's, and I'm just glad they didn't get into the salad bar that I still haven't named after Angua, and I don't get why she thinks that's such a bad thing. At the Fourth Dimension, Medusalith and Blackagar were coming up with dog-bathing strategies. Oooh. Good luck with that.

Oooh, calling all Fandom thespians, there's a casting call down at the Boards, now that Genesis is tidying the place up!

There's also yoga at Atlas Gym, at least if you were Ashley, pistol-cleaning at Wellspring Arms if you were Price, arrangements to get Bold the horse re-shod at the Gig for Dani Davis, hiding in the office at Strokes of Genius for Jane, trying on clothes at Pixie Dust for Makita, and planning of something at Dite's Decadent Delights for Karla.

Claudia was dozing off at work at Book Haven until Jacob came in to talk to her about how he'll know his soulmate right away, as soon as he sees them. Claudie thinks this is a little creepy. Alex Russo, who's not under the weather this week, got a visit from Ino at the Magic Box. Angua must have been bored at the Trooper Station, or just in a mood to mess with Ralph, since she was making him pose for no reason whatsoever. Repeatedly.

Hinata was out on the beach blowing bubbles when Zack came by on a run and stopped to talk about bubbles and pets and pets as presents.

Ino was on duty at the clinic today, and tonight at Caritas Jake was on the phone about arrangements to go home for Thanksgiving. Oooh, it is almost time again, isn't it?

It's also time for me to go, since it looks like we're out of notes. Until next Monday, Fandom!
