Fandom Radio, July 29

Hi, everybody! Lacey Burrows here, and --

*chittering*

No, where I was last week is completely irrelevant to this --

*smug chittering*

It's not current enough for modern news standards, okay? Now be quiet and give me the notes.

Classes

Uh oh, seems like Rick wasn't around today, but not to worry -- the Doctor covered The Pen is Mightier, and after a quick lecture had to come up with a collective story off the top of their heads, about a cobbler's son going to a tournament and I want to know how this story goes. If any of them remembered it, as they discussed afterward. No Rick, again, but the Doctor was there. Sing Like a Pirate got to, as usual, dress up, climb on the ship, and sing. How well can you sing while climbing the mainmast? Does Jack know?

*thoughtful, yet inconclusive chittering*

Yeah. Battlefield Tactics got a, uh, special treat today in the form of Vice Principal Deadpool and a movie day. Self-Defense got to watch and, we presume, learn from Faith and an opponent demonstrate Brazilian jiu-jitsu before warming up and giving it a try themselves. Great Trials, um . . . they got a lecture about . . . how do you pronounce that? M-apostrophy-N-A-G-H-T-E-N? It's an insanity defense. In its defense, it's spelled insanely.

*awkward silence*

Aw, gee, I crack me up. It's okay, you can laugh too. The class had to define insanity and I see those squirrel paws pointing at me, all of you, and the legal repercussions of using an insanity defense. Wow, you know, I might end up asking Alex Cabot how to pronounce that.

Inventing class got to, uh, watch advertising, then try to invent something from a pile of junk and then market it. That's not hard at all. Right, Professor Farnsworth?

. . . right? Arching 101 got to learn about what it's like to apply for membership in the Guild of Calamitous Intent, then live out the process. Now, this includes resume writing, getting interviewed by a glowing red face with a loud voice (aww, poor squirrel with the ears still ringing, awwwwwwww), get tested on how they'd react to a pair of adults and a pair of teenagers tied up over a vast lava pit, and then sweat it out in the waiting room for their test results.

Over in the library, Henry was wondering if Anemone's reading poetry aloud meant something was going to go wrong. As far as my notes can tell me, the only thing that might possibly go wrong is that Anemone's future plans don't include being a librarian.

Let's see. Office hours! Fraser and his meticulously up-to-date files, Loki and his video games, Piper and her cooking shows, Zoe and her paperwork Rocky Mountains range, and Drake and his Lady Gaga music . . . really, people take someone with that name seriously? Oh. Tangent. Sorry! They were all having office hours today. So was Anakin, but he got a bubbly serenade from Drake and the usual visit from Raven on top of his very, very unfortunate musical earworm.

Dorms/Campground

Quiet, quiet day for you kids, huh? Just Bobby getting back to Fandom much to Sookie's delight, Zack letting a gerbil run around on his chest until Ino came in for a long, serious kind of talk, and Karla and Ben taking Ender-the-komodo-dragon out into the preserve to hunt.

*chittering*

No, I don't think komodo dragons eat squirrel. Would you like to find out? Go on, I'll wait here to see if you come back with an answer.

Town

Vida was out and about today advertising for a Strawberry Social -- oooh, I love strawberries -- on Sunday the fifteenth, and Madison was checking out the flyers while on the job at Covent Garden Flowers.

The Magic Box was a little smelly today thanks to the shipment of rancid newt eye that Tara had to deal with, though hopefully Kennedy's usual stop by to bring her lunch cheered her up, and Wesley's visit, which involved figuring out that they're from the same world, was at least distraction from . . . ew. Newt eyes.

Bleaaaaaaaaaaagh oh gosh I don't even want to think about that any more than I --

Moving on. Book Haven was open, James stopped by the Gig on Helen's shift to . . . to . . . is the workplace really appropriate for that? Francine was at Luke's Diner -- where we have fabulous milkshakes and burgers, by the way -- talking to Katchoo about how next year's Comic-Con is selling out already, Karla met Warren at the Perk for a date and discussedheard about how he has to babysit Hinata's cat this weekend, and got an apology from Cloud for something the squirrels didn't catch, exactly.

Scully was arguing with the nurses over the clinic computer, Lindsay had music going at Nast Sporting Goods, and Hoshi was at the Arms cleaning.

*chittering*

Why do I have to -- okay, fine. CLEANING ALL THE THINGS. I don't get it.

Chuck wasn't CLEANING ALL THE THINGS at Caritas. He was just being lazy. The squirrels look very nonplussed about this.

I, likewise, look somewhat nonplussed about this because we are out of notes. Quiet day, but good night, Fandom!
