Fandom Radio - May 31
Adrian: Today's been a good day. One with not a lot of notes. That should make it easier to get through quickly.
Dimitri: I can appreciate this ending rapidly.
Adrian: Wow, this might be the first and only time we've been in agreement.
Dimitri: You almost make that sound newsworthy.
SCHOOL
Adrian: You had to go to school on a holiday? What kind of place is this? Let's change things around some and start with the library, where Gabrielle spent her shift writing on a scroll. That's the first time I've ever uttered those words.
TV Comedies met at the beach. Not a combination I would have expected. Mitchell taught them about sitcom camera setups, and again, I question the beach as a location for this, especially given the fact that they watched things besides just discussing things. Kate and Bobby spent their time talking about how he got baggage even while out of town, which exactly the sort of thing you want following you out of this town. Survive and Thrive learned about Memorial Day, complete with a moment of silence, picnic and a trip to a memorial. Thorough class.
Maritime Safety got to jet ski today. Complete with wetsuits. Phys Ed played dodgeball, which I'm sure was fun for all involved, and Gunn and Guy talked about the sports that are too tough for Gunn. Also I've learned from my notes that the clinic has a hot nurse. Something to keep in mind. And then Zack asked the teacher about Memorial Day, and approved of the explanation.
Home Ec skipped doing fun things and got to clean up a house after a kegger. I don't know how he got a lecture out of that, but he did, and the kids cleaned after pairing up, while Aquaman- again with that name- did yardwork. I guess someone has to do it? Unblinded Science- which really does not seem like a fun class to have on what should be a day off- talked about controlling objects via forearm cuffs. I have no idea what that means, but it sounds just kinky enough to get me to take back the thing I said about not being fun. Scully programmed hers for her phone, which got Peter teasing her about being a typical girl. Do typical girls program things to tie into their phone?
CABINS
Dimitri: Girls use their phones for very frightening purposes that I've seen. But, now that classes are completed, it seems they have more information about the goings on in the cabins. In Snow Monster Cabin, Jaina packed for a trip home. Good luck to you, Jaina. It seems no one else did anything worthy of squirrel notation until the evening over at the main campfire where Zack was setting marshmallows on fire. It's easy enough, but the results are less than edible.
Safety was Bruce's main concern before being offered unhealthy s'mores. Ino confirmed that eyebrows grow back and that Zack has no fleas...which would be a bonus given the close living quarters of the cabins. The relative size of the fire is concerning to both Ino and Bruce while Sookie learns that Bruce is a joy hater but is appeased that he knows how quickly the local fire and rescue would arrive should something happen. If these camp fires were that potentially problematic, I would hope the school administration would be on top of it.
At least Ben and Zack were able to enjoy terribly burnt marshmallows and...salad. That's a combination neither Bruce nor I would have expected. Clearly Blackagar is new given his lack of understanding about chocolate. Zack was a good man to share before Sookie assured him the fire wouldn't be a problem. Bobby said hello and heard from Sookie that he was too far from the fire for effective cooking. This was likely because of the signal fire status of this campfire. Even Robin worried Zack was trying to be rescued from the island.
Adrian: That was all great to hear, but I have to say I'm really glad I didn't even have to see any of that food.
Dimitri: Not a fan of marshmallows?
Adrian: Not when there's burning of them and talk of the fire department being called. I have standards.
TOWN
Dimitri: In town, Karla skipped out, leaving a robot to do her job at Dite's, but it seems everyone else was ignoring the holiday. Ino was writing at the Clinic, Dani Davis was dealing with her horses at the Gig, the Magic Box had someone called female Alex working, and Jane was quiet at Strokes of Genius.
Ben brought Ender ice cream while he worked at Sparky's and they had a nice conversation to catch up. The Trooper Station was busy with Angua blaming the coffee in Gibbs locker on the island, Vimes checking on Angua's health, and Gibbs and Vimes greeting one another. A woman named Cally has returned to the island via portal with a child. She was greeted in the park by Paige, who assisted her with finding a place to stay. That's always an important item to take care of the first day. It's actually how I ended up rooming with Shelley.
Adrian: If that doesn't work as a perfect segue. I opened Caritas, where Tino was crabby for some reason, and I offered to alleviate Rose's boredom. Dimitri and I... talked, squirrels, talked. And Dimitri complimenting Shelley apparently means he's getting a man-purse. I cannot wait to see that. Rose was eavesdropping on Dimitri and me, so she had to ask about that, and she wasn't flirting with Alex Karev, because he has a thing with Effy. Ahh, so that's that guy. Now that I've met him, I'm not impressed. Dimitri got along with him better, though, and they talked about Rose, and cooking. You have strange off-duty nights, Dimitri. Rose complimented Shelley's shirt, which got her telling Rose about... her nipples, and then they talked about me. Interesting, since she and I made plans.
And that seems to be the end of the notes.
Dimitri: And now I suppose I should escort you to your...plans. With my roommate.
Adrian: That would be helpful. And perfectly unawkward.
Dimitri: Just remember that she's like a sister to me and you'll be fine.
Adrian: Duly noted. And now that the entire listening audience has gotten to hear this, we should sign off. Good night, Fandom.
