Fandom Radio, Monday, April 26
Sam: Good evening, Fandom. I hope everyone's enjoying being back to normal again.
Andy: Back to normal? Were things abnormal again this weekend?
Sam: Yeah, a lot of people turned into kids. Were you out of town?
Andy: Yeah. Webber wanted me to come visit.
Sam: Well, you picked a good time. It was like sugar high central here.
Andy: Did you turn into a kid?
Sam: Yeah, I usually do. The island never leaves me alone when this kind of thing happens.
Andy: Did you spend it in a sugar high?
Sam: Not the whole time, although I did consume more whipped cream in one afternoon than was possibly necessary.
Andy: Worse ways to spend an afternoon.
Sam: True. There are worse ways to spend a weekend too. Here, I'll get started on the notes, 'cause I'm sure this was the topic of the day.
School News
Sam: I didn't think we'd have any school notes since classes aren't in session, but it looks like Gabrielle was in the library today, trying to finalize her summer plans while Mr. DeTamble drank a lot of coffee. That sounds like a good way to spend this week. Relaxing and drinking coffee, I mean.
Dorm News
Andy: Over in the dorms, Sookie and Bobby woke up in a fort. As adults. And I'd like to point out that being all grown up doesn't mean a fort isn't an awesome place you can have fun in. Just saying.
Sam: Oh, totally. Forts are like ball pits, you never outgrow them.
Andy: Though you might have literally outgrown some of them.
Sam: Then they just need to be made bigger, that's all.
Andy: And speaking of growing up, Ino and Zack found that their chocobo's no longer a baby and had to figure out how to get it out of the dorms. I'd say, see if you can find someone who can teleport it out. And how much do I love this place, that that's actually a helpful suggestion?
Joan was checking out community colleges and got visits from Hoshi, who wanted to talk about post-graduation plans and Liir, who just got back to town.
Bobby sent an e-mail, and Alex Karev packed for a trip home. Effy came by to return Alex's phone, and they talked about how cute and quiet she was when she was wee, which led to kissing.
Leda was making mud pies in the garden this afternoon. And, speaking of mud, the squirrels here inform us that Arthur had mud on his face and was, and I quote, "grouchypants" in the salle this morning. Dinah asked if he had a good weekend and pointed out the leaf in his hair; Arthur's response was that they WOULD NOT talk about the weekend. Which I think pretty much means the answer would be "no."
Sam: Okay, so it's not a great time for everyone, but come on, it's better than being attacked.
Andy: I wouldn't tempt fate that way or next time the island will get attacked while people are all kids. Dinah thanked Kennedy for her new sword and Kennedy told her they should have each other's backs. Arthur told Kennedy that he was looking for a sparring partner, which caused Kennedy to ask him if he was going to eyeroll at her for being a woman. Y'know if he does, she could always have taken advantage and kneed him in the groin when his eyes were rolling.
Sam: Maybe she's saving that move for a greater offense. In the third floor common room this evening, Mat apparently tried and failed to make popcorn. Puck pointed out how terrible the burnt popcorn smelled, and Mat explained that he usually gets pretty girls to cook for him instead, which kind of shut Puck up, at least until K-Mart arrived and Puck had someone else with whom to make fun of Mat's lack of cooking skills.
Mat tried to sweet talk Hayley into cooking for him, and talked to Raven about the weekend and being children. Hayley made sure Elle knew that the bad smell wasn't her fault, and Mat tried to place the blame on heavily-armed gremlins. Heavily-armed? What, like gremlins that have two sets of teeth?
Andy: Gremlins get a bad rap anyway. They're perfectly nice if you get to know them.
Sam: Unfortunately, not everyone's had that chance like you have. Mat tried to get Claire to make him a grilled cheese sandwich, but Claire was busy telling Elle about how Chuck told her a bedtime story last night. Awwww, he's such a softie sometimes. I wonder if anyone got cuddle time with him this year. And Zayne tried to help Mat figure out the buttons on the microwave, but that sounds like it just made the lack-of-cooking-skills problem worse.
Town News
Sam: Mitchell woke up somewhere by the dorms, which makes me wonder what he got up to last night. Ms. Pitt was making an ice cream sundae at her apartment, Deadpool sneaked back into his own apartment for some reason, and Liir came back to town, and was spotted by Ino, who promptly gave him hugs and welcomed him back.
Karla was working at Dite's Decadent Delights today and waiting for Dinah, who'd come to do some shopping with her, but not before they talked about what an adorable little girl Karla made.
Ender was working on e-mails and designs at Stark Industries when Ben came by with lunch and teased Ender about how they'd acted as children. I think everyone who was a kid should have an equal amount of embarrassment. We all end up doing crazy things by the time the weirdness wears off.
Angua wasn't in a very good mood at the Trooper Station. Maybe she missed being a kid? Loki cleaned around the pool at the MHA, Liz did some organization at the Arms Hotel, and Joan had graduation bouquets on display at Covent Garden Flowers. It's so weird to think that this time next week, graduation will be over.
Andy: And you'll be a year older too, won't you?
Sam: Yeah, I'll be an adult as of Sunday. That's...less scary, actually.
Andy: Except for occasional weekends.
Sam: Hopefully, weekends like the last one won't happen again. Bod was a little surprised to wake up in the graveyard, which makes you wonder what he got up to last night. And by "you" I mean "me." Jane was having a weapon-free day at Strokes of Genius, Claudia was taking stealthy naps at Book Haven, and Dani was talking to the horses as she groomed them at The Gig.
Zack was in a good mood when he arrived for work at Cafe Fina, Oz was celebrating Intellectual Property Day at Holiday Grove, and Irulan was looking through catalogs for new hats for The Imperial Brim.
Ashley was working out at the Atlas Gym when Hope came by to visit and asked her if she'd been a kid or not. Apparently, Ashley missed the whole thing, and I honestly can't say whether that's a good thing or not.
Andy: Guess it depends on how she spent her weekend instead.
Sam: It says here she went on a date, among other things.
Andy: Then it's probably a good thing.
Sam: Probably, yeah. Lacey was upset at Luke's Diner, and was taking it out on the countertops through vigorous cleaning. Angua came by for lunch and asked for a salad, explaining to Lacey that she backslid on not eating meat while she was a kid this weekend. Lacey told her not to blame herself, and I agree. No one should blame themselves for anything awkward or bad they did this weekend.
Jake woke up on a bench in the park, which again makes me wonder what people were getting up to last night. Luckily, Mary found him, and helped him get back to the hotel.
Ino was in a fabulous mood at the clinic, and was busy telling the nurses all about her weekend, and Jaina was in Caritas in Adrian's place, since he took care of Jaina's shift while she was a kid.
Andy: Yeah, kids bartending might be stretching it a little.
Sam: It probably worked out better this way, yeah. I'm all out of notes now. How about you?
Andy: Me too.
Sam: Then I guess that's it for us. You should ask people how their weekends went yourself, and see what they say.
Andy: Or how red they turn?
Sam: Ha, exactly. Have a good night, Fandom.
