Fandom Radio, Monday, April 19
Sam: Good evening, Fandom. It's nice to see we're not being rained on now like we were...yesterday? Today? I don't even know what time that was, to be honest.
Andy: I'll get you a watch for your birthday.
Sam: It would have gotten chocolate all over it if I'd been wearing it last night.
Andy: Point. But you could have wiped -- or licked -- the chocolate off and then you'd've had the time right there.
Sam: I guess. You weren't even fazed by it all, were you?
Andy: Nah. Now if it had been acid rain, yeah, but chocolate, that's just good messy fun.
Sam: I'll admit, the marshmallows were a nice touch, if you could catch them before they hit the ground.
Andy: Weather should always be that tasty.
Sam: Here, let me grab the notes in case we end up getting an encore of precipitation tonight.
School News
Sam: Unfortunately, today marked the beginning of finals week, which means the semester's almost over. And here I thought there'd never be a time I wouldn't look forward to finals.
The Outdoor Fitness and Strategy class ran a warm up lap around the school and then re-took their fitness tests from the first class, to see if there was any improvement. Before she left, Rose asked Mr. Bond if he'd passed his own final. Somehow, I can't see him failing much of anything.
The Build Your Own Philosophy class had a written exam from Tyler, who got a piece of apple pie from Ino that did not blow up when he opened it. I guess that was a nice surprise?
The World Mythology class didn't have to take a final exam because Lady Ghanima doesn't believe in them. This might be part of why everyone loves her classes so much. The students did, however, have to share which myths were their favorite out of the ones they studied in class.
The Horror 101 students had a written final as well, so Alex and Jack Priest got their note-passing done before that started. After the written part of the test, everyone had to ask Mitchell's friend Annie one question about death; she's kind of an expert since she's a ghost. A good ghost, I assume. After class, Jack asked Mitchell if he'd need a TA over the summer, and Kate talked to Mitchell about how happy she is that the semester is almost over.
The Japanese Etiquette and Tradition class had their written final in a Danger Shop-induced environment of cherry blossom trees. That sounds pretty ideal and relaxing to me. After that, everyone had the chance to look for the perfect blossom for extra credit.
Ms. Pitt had lots of snack options available at the study hall today, for anyone doing last-minute studying for finals. Gabrielle was a little out of sorts at the library, although I don't think anyone can blame her after the fire drill. It could have been worse - she could have had to do accounting like Mr. DeTamble.
The Flight Club met for the last time this semester. Everyone got to fly either an A-Wing or a rocket plane, and Ben and Tahiri were there to supervise, as was Anakin even though, as Leia found out, it was his birthday. Happy birthday!
Andy: Did anyone get him a birthday cake?
Sam: I don't know, but that sounds like something that needs to happen. You know, belatedly, when he's not expecting it. And over at the faculty offices, Constable Fraser was battling paperwork, and Cindy made herself available in case anyone needed help with their final projects.
Dorm News
Andy: Over in the dorms Sookie had cookies to help her study, and made plans with Karla to bake. And Momoko stopped being a hummingbird and started being a naked girl right when Jamie came back to his room to find her there. There's not really good conversation opener in that situation is there?
Sam: No, I'm not sure if there's a way to make that non-awkward. Sorry Momoko!
Andy: Alex Karev was taking care of his injuries while smoking. Nicotine, I assume since the squirrels didn't specify. Rose wondered what happened to his face and he told her about his fight with Puck. With cursing. Would that be a fight with cursing or a conversation with cursing about a fight, do you think?
Sam: From what I know of Alex? Probably all of the above.
Andy: Effy came by and she and Alex talked about possibly heading out of town somewhere to celebrate finals being over, and Griff tried to get Alex to open a window if he was going to smoke, but Alex thought being bruised from fighting meant he didn't need to. I'm not sure if being bruised means you get to forget about common courtesy.
Arthur was particularly mellow in the Salle this morning. He talked with Dinah who was working with knives today and she asked him to make sure he said goodbye before he leaves. Merlin was also in a fantastic mood, which he showed off by smiling brightly.
In the fifth floor common room this morning,Leda made gingerbread men who then came to life and ran away. I thought that happened to me once, but turned out it was just some really strong weed.
Sam: When your food starts talking, you need to find a place to lie down until that hallucination goes away, really.
Andy: Nah. Though it's probably best to at least stop eating it until it stops talking. Bod had books out on the deck this evening so he could study. Jack Burton and Bod caught up and Jack stated he was better when the island wasn't all crazy.
Uh, isn't it crazy all the time?
Sam: Well, sometimes it's crazier than others?
Andy: I'll worry if it ever stops being crazy.
Sam: Me too. I don't think I'd know what to do.
Town News
Sam: It looks like Simon was getting ready to leave Fandom, and Dinah came by to bring him a muffin and see how he was doing. Tony Stark was having some issues with his business, so he told Tyler that he was going to have to leave town for a few days, and Tyler said he'd go with him since he's done teaching.
And Sophie and Max were on a date tonight at Sophie's place. I hope it went well, and that reminds me that you should all come to The Boards tomorrow night or Thursday night to see us perform Richard III. Everyone's been working really hard to put everything together, and you'll get to see me be...really not nice, and it should be a lot of fun.
Sorry, I promised I'd throw that out there.
Andy: Shakespeare should be a great date too -- shows you have culture.
Sam: Hey, there you go. That's a good point too. Keep that one in mind, folks. Ender was cleaning bits of produce out of the machines at Stark Industries when Ben came by for his usual coffee-and-food run - without any chocolate, since we all had more than enough of that last night.
Angua found herself with a surprise gift of crayons at the Trooper Station, and Loki planted himself in the lobby of the MHA, in case any of his tenants needed anything.
Andy: Not literally planted I hope.
Sam: I don't think he has that kind of skill, no. Ashley kept herself busy on the treadmill at Atlas Gym until Rose came by for her training. While she waited for Dimitri, she and Ashley talked about graduation, and when Rose would be leaving Fandom. That's going to be a popular topic for the next two weeks, isn't it?
Andy: Graduating is a big deal.
Sam: Oh, I know. I am very, very aware of that. I just don't know if I want to talk about it, 'cause it makes me think about after graduation and all that weirdness. Lacey had to deal with warring food products at Luke's Diner. Hopefully, Angua didn't get caught in any crossfire when she came in for lunch, nor Sookie when she came in to ask if Lacey was still hiring waitresses.
Liz had everything set up for the day at The Arms Hotel, and Joan was looking very tired at Covent Garden Flowers, which I don't think she can be blamed for at all. Stupid fire drill.
Alex was doing some last-minute finals studying at The Magic Box, Dani took one of the horses from The Gig out onto the trail, and Claudia was working on a science experiment at Book Haven, with test tubes and everything. Yeah, that doesn't sound at all dangerous, right.
Oz had bicycle supplies on sale at Holiday Grove to support Bicycle Day, Sean looked like he was in a bad mood at Nast Sporting Goods, and Karla was studying her lines for the play and her notes for finals at Dite's Decadent Delights, when Leda came by with baked goods to thank Karla for all the help she gave her recently.
Jane was cleaning her assault rifle at Strokes of Genius, which is a combination that should probably freak me out more, but it really doesn't. Ms. Matthews came in to get some more painting supplies, and also asked Jane about the possibility of working at the shop over the summer.
Zack still smelled like chocolate when he got to work at Cafe Fina, which inspired the dishes to make some extra desserts today, and Ino teased him about the smell, and apologized for the conversation they'd ended up having while they were outside during the drill. It was really late, or really early, depending on your perspective, so I don't think anyone can be blamed for saying things that might not have come out right.
Ino had her notebooks with her at the clinic, so she could study and work at the same time, and Adrian was on time to Caritas, although he still let Tino serve Mr. Halpert when he came in for a beer, and Dimitri, since he was there as always.
Andy: I still think Tino has a cot in the back or something instead of, like, a real home.
Sam: That would be so sad though. He's got to have some place to get away.
Andy: Depends on how nice the back is.
Sam: ...True. It could be nice, considering how well-decorated the front is.
Andy: Maybe he's holding out on us.
Sam: Heh, this might require further investigation. For now though, I'm out of notes. You?
Andy: Me too. Beer?
Sam: Sounds good to me. Have a good night, Fandom, and here's hoping everyone will get to sleep through the night tonight.
Andy: I'll get you a watch for your birthday.
Sam: It would have gotten chocolate all over it if I'd been wearing it last night.
