Fandom Radio, Monday, April 5
Good evening, Fandom. I seem to be partnerless this week, and I suppose I could banter with myself or the squirrels, but that's not really what you all tuned in for, is it?
If it is, uh, I'm sorry to disappoint you.
School News
The Outdoor Fitness and Strategy class worked on the "strategy" part today by playing tag. Sometimes, this place really doesn't feel like high school. Not that that's a bad thing.
The Build Your Own Philosophy class watched a video on nonviolence, and then discussed what they think of the idea. I suppose it's a good idea in theory, but nonviolence doesn't really work when you live in a place where creatures and people like to attack you a lot.
The World Mythology class talked about Irish myths and what survived from the pre-Christian days, and then everyone paired up to discuss why a story was classified as a myth.
The Horror 101 class learned about the origin of horror, and told scary stories from their own cultures. Hopefully around a campfire with marshmallows roasting, or it just wouldn't be quite right.
The Japanese Etiquette and Tradition students learned about the subculture of Japanese fashion, and then got to go shopping in a Danger Shop-created environment.
Ms. Pitt had leftover Easter candy in the study hall, and Gabrielle was almost late for her shift at the library. Luckily, Mr. DeTamble was there to take care of things too.
The Flight Club met today, and this week's sim allowed everyone to fly a Bell X-1 or a. . . Winnebago. Seriously? I guess that's like the flight sim version of learning to drive using a minivan, huh? Warren and Tahiri talked about the flying Winnebago sim, and about how different everyone in Fandom is. Yeah, it's kind of the best thing about this place. Ben teased Tahiri about the sim, and Anakin was around to keep an eye on everyone.
Dorm News
Bod woke up, and realized that Jacob still hadn't returned to their room. Kate, on the other hand, was back in town, and she and Bod talked about where she went before she let Bod talk her into a nap.
Didi was in a giggly mood in her room when Bobby came by for plotting purposes. When Jaime got back to the room, Didi and Bobby told him they're in love and are moving in together, and moving Jaime into Bobby's old room. That's kind of mean, and kind of funny at the same time.
It's a Monday, and that meant Arthur was in the salle, although he got there much later than usual today. He and Dinah taked about the cliff-diving dragons she rode while in Kaeleer, and they shared information about the Prince there as well while Merlin frowned and tried not to nap.
Angela was watching TV and making chocolate rise krispie treats in the fourth floor common room this morning. Hannibal made sure they weren't mud pies before getting in on some quality make out time, and Chuck - who's still stuck as a girl - came in desperate for chocolate. Sounds like you got the hormones to go with the body, huh? Angela told him this was punishment for messing with people, and Hannibal insisted that being a girl makes Chuck bitchier. Personally, I think being stuck as the wrong gender would make anyone a little extra bitchy, but that could just be me.
George was selling tickets to prom in the lobby today, and Kyle and Bobby came by to keep him company. Of course, I can't mention that without making a plug for the Student Council - there will be people selling tickets to prom all week, so if you didn't get yours today, don't worry, you still have plenty of time.
And finally, Rose was in the fourth floor common room this evening with leftover Easter candy and magazines of prom dresses. I'm always so thankful to be a guy this time of year, and only have to worry about making sure my suit still fits. Alex teased Rose about what she was reading, asking if she was reading up on how to please a man, and she said she was reading up on how to kill him. By giving him a heart attack with a good dress, maybe? Stranger things have happened.
Town News
Zack and Deadpool met up in the preserve, and talked about Zack's mentor who died, and strange place names. I'm sorry about your mentor, Zack, for what it's worth.
Ender was running some tests at Stark Industries when Ben came by for his weekly visit, bearing coffee and sandwiches. Angua was having a quiet, normal day at the Trooper Station, and was freaking out accordingly. It does seem a little scary sometimes when things are too quiet, and Dani Reese agreed while Vimes warned her not to tempt fate.
Claire was looking up Portalocity listings at Android's Dungeon, Joan was in kind of a somber mood at Covent Garden Flowers, and Ashley was taking her mood out on the punching bags at Atlas Gym.
Dani spent the better part of the day horseback riding at The Gig, Gunn was working very hard playing Minesweeper at Cabot and Associates, Irulan was working on her next book at The Imperial Brim, and Makita had Pixie Dust open for anyone who wanted to get started on finding clothes for prom.
Lacey got some cleaning done before opening Luke's Diner. Jake Doyle came by, and when Lacey admitted she was surprised to see that he was still in town, he said that he hadn't expected to stay so long either. I agree with both of them, apparently, that there's just something about this place that makes people want to stay, even if they didn't intend to.
Karla was reading one of the novels they sell at Dite's Decadent Delights to kill time during her shift, Claudia was experimenting with the coffee pot and the teapot at Book Haven, which doesn't sound foreboding at all, and Alex was looking through the charms case at The Magic Box.
Oz had the Holiday Grove selling ice cream for the Cold Food Festival, Jane was painting in her office at Strokes of Genius, Ino accidentally went to her shift at the clinic without anything to study, and Adrian was actually on time to work at Caritas, accompanied by his cat of unknown gender, and Dimitri. I don't know how you can have a cat and not know it's gender, but maybe that's because I'm more used to dogs.
That's all the notes I have for tonight. I hope everyone is enjoying their quiet days, and juniors and seniors, don't forget to buy tickets for prom!
If it is, uh, I'm sorry to disappoint you.
