Fandom Radio, Monday, March 1

Zoe: Good evening, Fandom. And good evening to you too, Andy. I hope I didn't keep you waiting long.

Andy: No ma'am. Sam's not under the weather or anything is he?

Zoe: Oh no, he's just...very well occupied at the moment.

Andy: Oh?

Zoe: He's with his boyfriend. I could suggest a few things they might be doing right now, but I don't want him to make that face of his at me when I get home.

Andy: Oh! Um, good for him?

Zoe: Very good for him. And good for me, because now I can get a good look at what you all were up to today.

Andy: That seems almost like a government controlled media somehow...

Zoe: Maybe, but only for tonight. I won't be giving out any detentions for what's here. At least, I think I won't.

Andy: You wouldn't want Sam to feel guilty, y'know.

Zoe: Exactly. That's it completely, of course.

School News

Zoe: I know that the start of classes after a break makes most of you sad, but just remember, you could be taking normal classes at a boring school, instead of being here where, for example, the Outdoor Fitness class met in the Danger Shop to do a modified version of the biathlon. That's skiing and shooting together for those who weren't glued to the Olympics.

The Build Your Own Philosophy students turned in their midterms today, and got extra credit for presenting them to the class. After class, Raven offered to heal Tyler's cold. That was very nice of her.

Andy: Raven is always very nice.

Zoe: Oh really? She certainly sounds quite nice.

Andy: She is. Very, very... nice. And cute. And... nice.

Zoe: I'll take your word on that, since you seem so sincere about it. The World Mythology class learned about when myth becomes reality, thanks to guest lecturer Aly. Oh, I wish I'd been paying better attention, I would have tracked her down. Everyone had the chance to ask Aly questions, and there was a discussion of gods made flesh. There's a nice, peaceful topic, I'm sure.

Alex Russo and Chloe were in charge of Horror 101 today, so they made everyone watch a silly horror movie, and the Japanese Etiquette and Tradition class learned about Japanese food and chopsticks. Ah, chopsticks. They're not weapons unless you really, really want them to be.

Summer had tropical-themed snacks in the study hall, and got a visit from Deadpool, who wanted to know if there was Bailey's for the coffee. No, there shouldn't be, and no, I'm not making that mandatory. Also, you're crazy. For the record. Gabrielle was whistling in the library while Henry worked, and when Cindy stopped by to see how his spring break was and he admitted it wasn't very good, she invited him over for drinks later. That was a very nice offer.

And finally, the Flight Club had its first meeting, under the direction of Ben and Tahiri. Ben and Leia spoke of vacation, and he promised to teach her how to fly. Anemone and Ben were bouncy at each other, as were Anemone and Kurt. I suppose they're all excited for the group to be starting up again?

Andy: Or just naturally bouncy.

Zoe: That's entirely possible. There's certainly enough of that going around. Warren talked to Ben about having protection when one flies, and while waiting for the simulator, Kurt explained to Warren that the club is about flying aircrafts, not flying in general. Everyone had the choice of riding in a landspeeder or a light freighter, and Anakin was there to supervise. And to correct people's techniques, I'm sure.

Dorm News

Andy: Over in the dorms, Rose sent email and then was sad. Emma was hard at work making phone calls, and Effy was smoking in her room when she got a visit from Rose and Emma, presumably after they got finished emailing and phoning.

Jaina was hard at work on a project and Francine got back to her room after being in town. Really? This is what's passing for news this week? Are you squirrels still on vacation?

Zoe: They'd better not be. If we have to work, so should they.

Andy: That's pretty impressive. I've never seen a squirrel cower before. You should glare at them more often. Late morning on the first floor, Kate was eating candy and playing a snowboarding video game, and offered Robin-the-frog a turn. Edmund asked if it wasn't too early in the day for sweets, but Kate told him she'd already had a healthy breakfast so it was okay. And really, even if she hadn't, there is no such thing as it being too early for sweets. Trust me on this.

Zoe: You're just lucky my impressionable young child is already in bed.

Andy: Oh, I'm sure she already knows that. Sam's told me about Dean and pie.

Zoe: ...yes, I suppose she's already met her corrupting influence, hasn't she?

Andy: Pretty much, yeah. In the third floor common room, Jean was watching a tv show about New Jersey and fake tans. She asked about Jono's break and said she got a tan on hers. Real or fake?

Jono and Didi discussed each other's days, and Kurt greeted Jono as sourpuss. Not literally, I hope, no one needs to be tasting cats, whether they're students or not.

Jen Walters was sad the Olympics are over and got teased by Kurt. Though not by being called a sourpuss.

Bruce wanted to know why anyone would tape this show and Jean told him people watch dumb things. Because dumb things can be funny when you're stoned. Or maybe that's just me.

Zoe: That would just be you, yes.

Andy: I'm comfortable with that. Kurt stared at Bruce and Jean and finally waved, and attempted to climb on the ceiling to drop popcorn in Jean's hair. Most people would just try to throw it from where they were sitting, dude.

Elena was sad those sport competitions are over, and Kurt told her the Olympics can't last too long or they wouldn't be special, to which Elena asked if the most special Olympics would only be a few seconds long. No, because that wouldn't be fair to all the people who compete in the Special Olympics. Seriously, they deserve their day in the spotlight too.

Didi and Kurt introduced themselves and Didi showed Jean an incriminating picture of Jono in mouse-ears. So he's a sour mouse, not a sourpuss?

Layla said that the common room should be a no-fist-pumping zone, and Kurt thought fist-pumping should be private to which Layla responded with, "That's what she said."

Zoe: I have so many remarks I could make about that, I don't even know which one to go with.

Town News

Zoe: Oz had dinner in his van, which doesn't sound very comfortable or sanitary. True to her word, Cindy had Henry over for dinner, and Fred came home to find a message on his answering machine. Sam stayed home from school today - with permission, for the record - to stay with Peter and take care of him. He also got a phone call from Chuck, who I think is still out of town, ignoring that spring break has ended.

Arthur wasn't in a very good mood as he and his friends returned from vacation, but I imagine the end of the break had that effect on a lot of people's moods. Arthur and Katina talked about how they enjoyed the trip, and Arthur's change in mood, Francine and Arthur discussed getting back to classes and the daily grind of their extra-curricular activities, and Merlin and Francine were awkward towards each other. Not too awkward, I hope.

Ender was happy to get back to work at Stark Industries, even with the randomly appearing oranges that were there. I think Tony needs to have that looked into one of these days. Ben came by for his usual visit, and tried to get Ender to understand that Fandom's beach just isn't the same as the beaches in the Bahamas.

Andy: It's colder for one thing.

Zoe: For now. It'll warm up eventually. Lacey was celebrating at Luke's Diner for...something about hockey and Canada that I can't fully make out here, and Kyle and George came in for milkshakes and hamburgers to ease back into things after the break.

Worf was looking quite relaxed at Wellspring Arms, and Jack Burton came in to look at the weapons. Just look, I hope. Sometimes I wonder if you're not all far too well-armed.

Andy: I'm not armed at all!

Zoe: Don't worry, I know you're not. I meant the general population at large. Claudia was reading books on sea lions at Book Haven when she got a visit from Jack Burton too, who came in to find something new to read.

Cable was dealing with an extra week's paperwork at the Town Hall while Angua was looking cranky and growly at the Trooper Station. Loki was playing video games in the MHA lobby, and Gunn was at work at Cabot and Associates, in as much as he was physically present in the office.

Dani had a frustrating day dealing with the farm animals that have taken up residence at The Gig, Makita was trying on swimsuits at Pixie Dust, and Claire looked to be in a fantastic mood at Android's Dungeon. Joan had more notes to write at Covent Garden Flowers, and Alex rearranged some of the displays at the Magic Box. Oz set up some displays about St. Patrick's Day at the Holiday Grove, and Ashley was glad to have people back on the island while she was at work at Atlas Gym.

Aphrodite was happy to be back at Dite's Decadent Delights, but when Karla came in complaining about the cold, she had no problem turning the place into Dite's Sun Lamp Parlor for a little while. Beka was out at the park feeding the pigeons when Aly spotted her, and they had a talk about the trouble with wanting to be home and be in Fandom at the same time. I get that conflict quite a bit, I really do.

Ino was in the clinic today, having switched to the Monday shift, and Adrian and his kitten went to work at Caritas in the evening. Tyler wanted to know if the kitten was a real kitten, or a student, which is a perfectly valid question here, and Adrian insisted to Dimitri that the whole kitten situation is temporary and he's definitely not keeping it.

Andy: But is it a sourpuss?

Zoe: No, I'm sure it's a very adorable kitten, or people wouldn't keep wondering if it's a student.

Andy: I think I'd be very sour if I suddenly woke up a kitten.

Zoe: I can think of a lot of animals it would be worse to wake up as. Like a skunk.

Andy: Then I'd just be stinky.

Zoe: And probably difficult to take care of. Are there any more notes in your stack?

Andy: Nope. You?

Zoe: It doesn't look like it. I suppose that means it's time for us to go. I'm sure you'll have Sam back with you next week.

Andy: That's okay. He can take his time.

Zoe: That's good to know too. Have a good night, and that goes for the rest of you too.

Raven always listened to Monday night broadcasts, and she blushed when her name came up. "You are very nice, too, Andy," she said to the radio. Not that it was listening.

Summer listened to the broadcast and when she heard Zoe's opinion on the Bailey's thing, she had to crack a smile.

She had a feeling that wasn't going to go over well with the principal.
