Fandom Radio, Monday, February 1
Sam: Good evening, and happy Monday, Fandom. I hope everyone's doing okay today.
Andy: Dude, have you been pigging out or something? You smell like chocolate.
Sam: No, I haven't been pigging out. After this weekend, I don't want chocolate for a good, long while. I think maybe I missed a spot when I showered or something.
Andy: Well that explain why you're looking kinda... polka dotted.
Sam: No I don't! It's all in your head.
Andy: Scout got fleas?
Sam: No! At least, I don't think so. I'm sure it's nothing. Sorry about the smell though.
Andy: Hey, could be worse. You could smell like a wet gremlin or something.
Sam: You always manage to find the positive of a situation, don't you?
School
Sam: The Outdoor Fitness class finally went on their cross-country run through the preserve. The snowy, muddy, slippery preserve. It was a blast, really. The Build Your Own Philosophy class talked about Machiavelli and whether, if they were in charge of their own country, they'd rather be feared or loved. I've got to say loved, definitely.
World Mythology talked about the myths of ancient Greece, including some of the more violent ones, since those are the most interesting. They also talked about the story of Oresteia and whether or not Orestes' life could have been any different, or if his fate was set in stone. After class, Ben asked Lady Ghanima if the similarity between their topic and her own family name was a coincidence, and she said no. That's got to make teaching a little more interesting.
The Horror 101 class talked about ghosts, and instead of watching a movie, they explored a haunted house, which came complete with a ghost at the end. I think I might have to get Dean to talk to Mr. Mitchell the next time he's in town, they'd probably get along.
The Japanese Etiquette class talked about business etiquette, and what kind of gift they would give as a visitor to another country to represent their home. Gabrielle was doing some writing in the library, and Ms. Pitt was in charge of study hall, which was visited by Clark and Tony.
Mr. Stinson was playing with some bobbleheads in his office when he got a visit from Biff, who complained about Farmville and talked about how they should buy a bar. Hopefully not here, since we already have one of those. And Cindy brought a fan into her office and got a map of the island to look it over. I can't quite get over the fan thing. Isn't it cold out?
Andy: Maybe it's a fan as in fan of something.
Sam: So, she brought like, a person to her office?
Andy: Maybe?
Sam: Well, when you put it that way, that doesn't sound so strange, I guess.
Dorms
Andy: Over in the dorms, Ino got a call from home that left her all distracted, and Mat had an STD. Or at least something that left him covered in spots and hiding in his bed. Dude, that's an STD? What have you been doing??
Sam: I haven't been doing anything! It's not an STD!
Andy: Well that's what the squirrels say it is here.
Sam: Well, the squirrels are wrong!
Andy: If you say so. It's Monday, so Arthur was in the salle, practicing with swords. Dinah asked if it was spar or drills day and it turned out to be the former so they did that. Merlin was finding videos on his iPhone and told Arthur he wanted to put his own videos on there. That sounds like it could be pretty cool. Maybe he could put up videos of Arthur playing with his swords.
Up on the roof this evening, Warren took off his coat, spread his wings and flew. Oh wow.
Marco was envious and asked if Warren always had wings to which Warren answered "More or less." I'm not quite sure how you can have wings less. Ben said it was a nice trick and he needs a ship to fly, and Warren said he usually just buys a plane ticket -- less stress that way. Alice applauded the wings and she and Warren discussed how he conceals them and whether they're permanent. Okay, I guess that could be the less part.
And in the fourth floor common room, Proto was surrounded by junk food. Sounds like my kind of night. He offered some food to my roomie, Jack Priest and they discussed, among other things, oversized attack squirrels. I'm pretty sure I don't want to know.
Sam: I don't think I do either. The regular squirrels are bad enough.
Andy: You're just saying that because they think you have an STD.
Sam: I do not have an STD!
Andy: Tell them, not me.
Sam: I'm pretty sure telling them won't do any good. Stupid squirrels.
Town
Sam: Ender was poking at a prototype at Stark Industries when Ben came by with lunch and coffee, and they talked about the carnival and what they did there.
Lacey was trying some more complicated recipes at Luke's Diner, Joan set up a Valentine's Day window display at Covent Garden Flowers, and Alex was dealing with a shipment of love potions and charms at The Magic Box. Dani was dealing with monthly finances at The Gig, Claudia was working on Kurt's image inducer at Book Haven, Oz set up a banner for pretty much every holiday in February at Holiday Grove, and Irulan was supervising the reconstruction of The Imperial Brim.
Claire was putting away holiday themed comics at Android's Dungeon and got a visit from Tim, who wanted to check up on the place. Lulu was working on her business plan for Cafe Fina at The Perk when she bumped into Mary and let her know that her weekend vacation has turned into sticking around for good. Lulu also met Max, who was quick to introduce himself to a semi-new and attractive woman, and Captain Price, who introduced himself politely and welcomed her back to the island.
Aphrodite was redecorating at Dite's Decadent Delights when Lulu stopped in to check the place out, and they talked about her maybe teaching Sex Ed this summer. Max came by as well with pastries, and got a tour of the redecorations from Aphrodite.
Makita was hard at work at Pixie Dust, and got a visit from Proto, who came by to check on her, ask how her weekend went, and mock some of the terrible fashions in the store with her. Dimitri was in a bad mood at Atlas Gym, but Ashley cheered him up a little when she came in to work out and they got to talking about where they came from before Fandom.
Mr. Gibbs spent the evening repairing the gremlin damage to his boat, which is...in the basement? Must be a small boat. And Adrian was actually on time to work at Caritas.
That looks like everything--wait, no, there's one more sheet. Uh, Joan found Raven in town bleeding from what looked like a vampire bite. Jennifer Walters helped Joan get her to the clinic though, so I think she's okay now.
Andy: What? You guys couldn't give us that note first?
*squirrels chitter*
Andy: I don't care about proper order, not when Raven's hurt. Next time, you tell me that first.
Sam: Hey, uh, why don't you go check on her? I can close up here on my own and you can see how she is?
Andy: You'd do that?
Sam: Of course. You'd do the same for me, wouldn't you? Go on, it's fine.
Andy: I owe you one, Sam. *sounds of getting up and leaving*
Sam: Uh, I guess that's it for us tonight. Stay safe, Fandom.
Andy: Dude, have you been pigging out or something? You smell like chocolate.
Sam: No, I haven't been pigging out. After this weekend, I don't want chocolate for a good, long while. I think maybe I missed a spot when I showered or something.
