Fandom Radio, Monday, November 23

Sam: Good evening, and happy early Thanksgiving, I suppose.

Andy: Works as a greeting.

Sam: People seem to be getting geared up for Thursday already, so we might as well start the greeting early too, yeah?

Andy: Gobble, gobble.

Sam: *laughs* Heh, that's the spirit. Let me start looking through the notes, and I'll see how many of them might make us hungry this week.

School

Sam: The Applied Science class discussed the farming and engineering that makes our modern-day food better, faster, and stronger. Of course, the best way to learn about that was by sharing some pumpkin pie.

Hubris From Revelation talked about Hinduism, with a particular focus on Devas - the Hindu gods - and their avatars. Before class, Kate apologized to Lady Ghanima for missing last week's class, and I did the same thing later.

The Physical Films students had a pretty easy day - after changing into their uniforms and appropriate footwear, they watched a movie about golfing while trying to hit golf balls as far as they could into the Danger Shop-created ocean.

Care for Magical Creatures had an easy day too - clearly, we're easing into the holiday already - watching a movie about unicorns. I guess those count as magical creatures, even if they're not real.

Andy: Are you sure about that?

Sam: I...think so? Why, do you think otherwise?

Andy: Because this is Fandom and if you can think of it, it's probably real somewhere.

Sam: Good point. Let's just say they're not real here for right now. The Sex Ed class learned about the difference between pornography and erotica. I'm not sure what that difference is, but I bet if you asked Chuck Bass, he could give you a dissertation on the subject.

And the Fencing Club met and practiced with real swords again today, under the watchful eyes of Edmund and Mr. Algren.

Dorms

Andy: Over in the dorms, Jonas took advantage of some downtime to read. Excellent choice of activities. Throw in something to mellow out your mood and you've got a perfect afternoon, in my opinion.

Sam: As long as you're, you know, into mellowing out.

Andy: Everyone needs a little mellowing every once in a while. Francine was being completely adorable in her room with her fake baby, but Angela Martin blamed her droid baby for her cat running off. Guess all fake child moments can't be Hallmark moments.

Sam: I guess not. Good luck to those of you who are stuck with babies for the next little while.

Andy: Down in the salle this morning, Arthur was working with his staff, which caused Dinah to ask why staffs. Arthur just waited until she wasn't paying attention and then attacked her. Which doesn't really answer the question, but I suppose would distract a person enough to forget they asked.

A sluggish Zack got tackle-glomped -- is that an actual word or just some weird squirrel thing?

*squirrels chitter*

If you say so. I don't think it's in the dictionary though. Anyway, Zack got tackle-glomped by Dinah and offered cookies, while Arthur accused Zack of slacking off. Probably because he was too busy being tackle-glomped to attack Arthur with his staff.

I should probably add "not dirty" here.

Sam: Oh, right, totally not dirty at all.

Andy: Y'know I've only meant him the once, but you sounded suspiciously like your brother there.

Sam: After living with him for almost my whole life, he's rubbed off more than I can ever deny.

Andy: Also, not dirty. Didi was eating sugar cookies and watching a Katherine Hepburn movie in the third floor common room. After pointing that the movie was from before she was born, Hayley told Didi that Liir's magic dog is babysitting her droid baby. Y'know that's probably grounds to have a baby taken away. Or, in this case, to fail the assignment.

Sam: Maybe? It depends on what the dog is like.

Andy: The whole dog thing pretty much is the point of why it's not good parenting. Elena asked if the movie was any good and got invited to join them.

And Leda was out on the roof singing from Les Mis. The squirrels suspect a gremlin was involved. Or, y'know, maybe she just likes showtunes.

Sam: Enough to sing them from the roof? That's kind of a different story.

Andy: Maybe there's really good acoustics up there?

Sam: Or maybe she got really "mellowed out"?

Town

Sam: Ender had random tomatoes and his weekly meeting with Ben at Stark Industries. I'm a little concerned about the idea of random tomatoes, considering our recent history with vegetables, but there doesn't seem to be anything scary in the rest of the notes, so...

Anyway, Liz was around for her shift at the Arms Hotel, Dani was a little late - and hungover - for her shift at the Gig, Oz was selling all kinds of Thanksgiving stuff at the Holiday Grove, and Aphrodite was attempting to get an ice sculpture for Dite's Decadent Delights, but she didn't have any luck.

Irulan made some tea to get through the day at the Imperial Brim, and got a visit from Aphrodite. Sophie was considering what kind of exhibits to have at 4th Dimension after Thanksgiving, and got a visit from Aphrodite as well, to talk about decorating.

Sam Vimes had his first day of work at the Trooper Station, apparently as the new guy in charge. Just what this place needed was another Sam.

Andy: Could be worse. Could have your face instead of your name.

Sam: ...okay, that is a very valid point, thank you. Lacey was having trouble staying awake at Luke's Diner, until a super hyper Dinah came in and woke her up with some yelling. Deadpool checked out the treadmills at the Atlas Gym before doing some therapeutic sparring with Zack. Therapeutic? If you say so, squirrels.

Adrian arrived for his shift at Caritas already drunk, which might be a problem at any other job, but Tino's used to it by now. And Millie was cheerful at the clinic.

Andy: She always seems to be cheerful. That's pretty cool.

Sam: Especially if you go to the clinic feeling like crap. I guess you're not the only one around here in a perpetually good mood!

Andy: Hey, I get upset sometimes. I just... haven't had anything to get me that way since I came here.

Sam: That's because things that get you down don't actually exist. It's okay, it just must be nice to be able to live like that.

Andy: I don't know if I'd go that far but...

Sam: I would. Consider it something to be thankful for, this week and all. I, on the other hand, am just thankful that I seem to have run out of notes.

Andy: Hey can't argue. That means we're outta here.

Sam: Yes, we are. Have a good evening, Fandom.
