Fandom High Radio, Tuesday, July 21st

Good evening, Fandom, and welcome to the Tuesday night broadcast, delivered to you by some red-clad squirrels and myself. Which is more of a pedigree than it sounds like. Some of the squirrels even manage to hit halfway competent these days.

Moving on, it's time for a relatively quiet Tuesday, as about half of you have turned into animals, and the rest is probably watching grass grow in the park or something.

In the office, the melk-elkoose stalks the night. Or day. I've no idea, but either sounds equally ridiculous. Anemone sings in the library. I feel for those dustbunnies.

In Debt class, Professor Lily explains about accumulating debt, Adora concerns herself with her chipmunk of a boyfriend - that's strike one tonight - people pair up and Professor Lily's about.

Mythbusting teaches making a cannon out of a tree. ... Now that might actually be useful. Someone get me notes from that class. They pair up to do it, and even Turtle and Claire have to admit it's a useful thing to learn. Robin offers to work with Alex, Kyle and Agnes work together, and Merlin explains to Professor Tyler how Francine's gone. But not an animal, thank God. Professor Tyler and Ino have a heated discussion about Fight Club, which Anemone compensates for by keeping quiet.

Photography class once again wastes their time with this 'developing' thing. This time it's about sadness. People then show their products to discuss. Professor Veronica is present, of course. Flight and Flying, another class I should be taking, tries out modern military aircraft. Like a fighter jet? They do practice jets and Danny chooses that as an excuse to get sick. Master Anakin is understandably annoyed. There's some air-to-surface and air-to-air exercises. TA Peter discusses 'puppy playdates' for the boyfriends with Claire. That would be strike two and three. Finally, Ender, my former co-host, requests permission not to participate. You'd best have had a bloody good reason for that.

Creative writing discusses plot structures, whatever those are, with a lecture and a disturbing writing game by name of exquisite corpse. Right. They present their dead writing bodies, then get back to work. Professor Rick and TAs Valentine and Jon are there to be talked to. Except that Jon ran late. I wouldn't have let you into the class.

Film class discusses European cinema in the 1920s, all right, with a lecture and films. TA George is present, as is my other former co-host, Professor Mitchell.

Finally, in office hours, Glinda's mighty search for a hamster draws in Sir Minsc like a hamster siren calling to a very large, tattooed sailor.

DORMS

The reserves occupied themselves with scouting out areas of the island we're not familiar with. There was some mingling before we tackled the course, and of course Lord Leto, Zack and I were there. Leto and I discussed what had occurred while he was still a tree, Zack... discussed the same with Leto, as well as being a puppy - I'd say strike four but it's barely a difference, is it? - and I had Merlin with me.

Peyton and Fiona left across the causeway. Rose... fell off the roof of Galaxy Quest after meditating, but Jaina made sure she was all right. All in a day's work. Jon, our strike three, woke up naked in Claire's alcove. He made a 'naked dash' to his cabin. Here's a tip for the new: if you turn into an animal, don't get yourself taken into anyone else's room. Peyton is... out of sorts after her trip, and Angela finds it in her to come comfort her. Effy was smoking outside the Valley cabin - I'd suggest you do it outside Smiling Bouncy Hell instead, to commemorate Katina. Fiona and Griff go on a 'date' that ends awkwardly when the topic of my roommate is brought up. I'd never thought I'd see the day I had to acknowledge Dinah had the most sense out of anyone about something...

Ahem.

Rose and Jack also have a date, but it's far less awkward. Unless you count the clumsy conversation.

TOWNIES

Loki was, and I cite the squirrel, 'lazy and fucking literal' at the MCA. Sir Daisy is there as usual to be enthusiastic over the mood lighting, and they discuss the new kn-- cop. In town. Raven survived her second day at... Aphrodite's store, while Layla sets up at Things Reborn with a package to be delivered. Mirax comes by to test how much she knows and to receive a job application, and eventually, I'm told, Ben does show up for his package. Sir Dale is vigilant at work as the soon-to-be Sir Dani arrives for what I'll assume is her final test. Hinata, Adam, Mary, Ellie and McCoy are all quiet at their respective jobs--

*chittering*

No, I'm sorry, Mary is 'joining the zoo crack', which I'm fairly sure must be code.

Ino is speaking to her flowers in a surprising turn of events, and she helps Griff find some flowers for his date. Apparently she's In a Mood. Once again, I'm suprised. Fiona works at the law offices while fussing over a thermos until Professor Tyler interrupts her coffee break to discuss her powers with her. Good luck, Professor Tyler. Griff then visits to give her the flowers and to take her on a 'daaaate'. I'm not sure that needs so many a's. Ender works on a 'holographic projector' at Stark Industries, all right, and Stark praises him for his work before promptly giving him something else to do. Can't let him slack off, Stark.

Fiona and Leto get cuddly on the beach before they speak of fear. Yes. I'm starting to understand about Griff.

At the theatre, the stage appears to be covered in maple syrup. I'm... sure... that's some kind of acting thing. There's coffee and apples for the mingling - always with the food 'round here - and Dinah and Priestly pontificate on the existence of stage ghosts. You never know. Might be some kind of magical creature at work. Glinda and Sophie are merely relieved about the smell. Is it just me, or is this theatre more than averagely damage-prone? Or is it meant to up morale? Karla goes out of her way to make Jack crave pancakes, good work, Karla, and during rehearsal, That Frog gets stuck. Zack's being a good puppy and mopping up the mess and gets some help from Dinah, who learns about the puppy thing.

Again, it really shouldn't be any kind of surprise.

Harper comes over to help Zack, who promptly-- ahahhaaha - trips and falls again.

Zack falls really well. I'm sure he did. Yes. Like a proper reserve leader-- *surpressed snickers* -- would. Geoffrey is there to give notes, and that savage beast - this squirrel is poetic - is tamed with the aid of Priestly's sandwich. Now there's a novelty. Karla, finally, offers to ensorcel the stage to make sure no one'll get stuck. Helpful.

She gave Dinah ideas, in fact, who tried to walk on air and probably promptly fell off.

Marshall's 'bopping' at Caritas, when Lady Adora comes in with her strike... four, was it? Chipmunk. Vince is happy to indulge Marshall in some excessively girly hair talk - I imagine you spend a lot of time combing it - and Dani orders a non-alcoholic soda. And refused to talk to Vince. It was most likely the hair.

With all of that behind me, I bid you all good night, sleep well, and look after your nearest and dearest to make sure they don't join the current animal plague.

[I now have a mental image of some kind of mer-hamster because of that line.]
