Fandom Radio, Monday, June 15
Dean: Good evening Fandomites!
Sam: I hope everyone out there is in as good of a mood as Dean is tonight.
Dean: What he said.
Sam: Do I want to know what's causing the good mood, or is this something I shouldn't ask about for the sake of my sanity?
Dean: Uh, ask me after tomorrow.
Sam: ...that's my cue to take some of the notes and not ask at all, isn't it?
Dean: It'll give us something to talk about over lunch when you're hanging in the library.
Sam: I guess I can wait that long, if it means your mood will hold out too.
School News
Sam: The Arts and Crafts class made finger puppets today, and the Drama class talked about stage acting vs. film acting. Everyone had to dress up in costumes and act in front of a camera to get a feel for the difference between stage and video, and I'd just like to add, for the record, that finding a costume when you're kind of tall can actually be harder than memorizing lines. For some people, that is.
Dean: Dude, just think of it as a disguise on a hunt.
Sam: That's not going to make clothes that fit me magically appear. I wish it worked like that, I really do.
Dean: Hey, you're the one who didn't know when to stop growing.
Sam: Or you're the one who didn't know when to keep growing. Civil War Re-Enactment learned about the Battle of Antietam this week. Penelope and Joan talked about what they did over the weekend, and about where Penelope and Hurley stand in their relationship, or lack thereof. Then, everyone ran around the Danger Shop field fighting each other with fake weapons. Better than real weapons - we get enough of those around here already.
Keeping Your Advantage talked about the terrain of urban environments and about how to move around as smoothly and efficiently as possible using parkour. Dinah told Eleanor that she grew up in a big city and is very used to that kind of environment, and that was probably useful as everyone ran a practice course, and a simulated city course, trying to get through each city as quickly as possible. After class, Dinah made plans to meet Lady Ghanima in her office later in the week, and Eleanor talked to Lady Ghanima about missing class last week due to being a kitten. If that's not the Fandom equivalent of "The dog ate my homework," I don't know what is.
Dean: Maybe "I was a dog and ate my own homework"?
Sam: Okay yeah, that definitely wins. The Spy Games class got to work with weapons this week - real guns and knives, amazingly enough. Triela and Karla had plans to go to the gun range already, and decided to use the class as extra practice, Alice asked Ms. Walker where she could get knives like the ones we used in class, and Agnes wasn't sure if the Danger Shop's protocol of turning the weapons into badgers if people turned them on others actually made the weapons less of a threat. Badgers are kind of fierce, after all.
Dean: And they can probably eat your homework.
Sam: Or your hand, and that's a lot harder to replace. Mr. Eriksen filled in for Ms. Aldren and taught basketball today. The class actually had to do work for once, first running around the gym, and then running and dribbling at the same time without falling and tripping and faceplanting. I'm assuming that last part, at least. Mr. Eriksen also helped Mitchell come up with some ideas for his next class, and Minsc was training during his office hours - with Boo, of course.
Dorm News
Sam: Earlier today, Johnny broke the news to Savannah that he has to leave next week for good, and things understandably got a little sad. Peyton had her music going in the evening, and when Fiona stopped by, Peyton told her about the CD she's putting together, and Fiona got her brother to agree to play for it. And out at the cabins, Worf and Rose have...broken a wing of the Taft cabin by having sex? The squirrels are impressed; I'm just trying not to imagine how that could happen.
Dean: This may require diagrams.
Sam: Or pictures. We've got to get the squirrels some little cameras or something. As usual, the salle was hopping with Arthur and his students and friends this morning. Arthur was practicing in his chainmail, which earned him a compliment from Zack, and even though Dinah wanted to work on new tasks, Arthur insisted on sparring first to see how she's coming along. Fiona asked Arthur about his weekend as he tested her to see how her drills from last week were coming, and Romeo insisted that he wanted to learn something new too, until Arthur suggested working with a sword to see how long it took before he hurt himself.
The construction on the sixth floor continued today, with more framing still to be done. Johnny was there in the morning and the afternoon, with a break for lunch, and both Constable Fraser and Ronon were there to supervise.
Worf was in the gym in the afternoon, taking his frustrations out on a punching bag. Rose came in for a workout and learned about how horrible Worf's trip home was, and that apparently led to sparring and kissing and breaking wings of cabins.
Chuck was out on the roof this afternoon, brooding and smoking something that was probably illegal in most states. He talked to Claire about how it was okay for her to be up there too, since it's a free roof - as long as Chuck wasn't sharing whatever he was smoking with her, that is.
Dean: Maybe he should just move up to the roof permanently; he spends enough time up there.
Sam: Everyone's got their favorite spot, I guess. Leto and Chuck talked about musical instruments, since Leto was going around with his baliset in hand, and about being familial disappointments. Karla asked Leto to play his instrument a little for her, and he asked her about her musical experience. Claire and Leto talked about how Claire joined the Fight Club, and they made plans to get together later in the week so he can give her some extra training. Amber and Chuck got caught up with each other and talked about what Amber might do before she leaves the school, which won't be anything crazy or troublesome, not at all.
Karla offered to trade Chuck some wine for some of his joint, but he said no, and insisted he wasn't brooding, no matter how much Karla insisted he was. And Karla and Claire talked about being new to the Fight Club.
Hannibal took over brooding duties in the evening, down on the deck. Hurley wasn't in the best of moods either, so they commisserated for a while, and Prince Edward tried to get Hannibal to open up and tell him what was wrong. Gabrielle and Hannibal talked about the weather, and about how her constant optimism balanced Hannibal's brooding well.
Serena wasn't in a great mood either because she's fighting with Blair, but that didn't stop her from defending Blair to Hannibal. Hurley and Valentine got caught up, and if she was trying to cheer him up, it didn't work. And Valentine and Hannibal talked about how hard it is to have a cheerful roommate who's a morning person when you aren't. I don't know about that, I think roommates can make it work. It all depends on how the late sleeper's roommate wakes them up.
Dean: Point. And the proper way is either with a) sex or b) coffee and donuts.
Sam: Or, um, maybe both, if you want as many brownie points as possible.
Dean: I can see we're in agreement on this one.
Town News
Dean: Down in town, Ender kept busy with math at Stark Industries. He got a visit from his sister, Valentine with whom he discussed space travel and immortality. Is that like me telling you you're not allowed to die?
Sam: I think so, only with math to back up that it might actually be possible.
Dean: That would be some equation. Ender also got a visit from Ben and they talked about disguises and their uses. A very interesting topic. Especially if discussed while dressed as a priest.
Sam: Do not pin your kinky sex habits on Ben and Ender of all people, please? It just doesn't feel right.
Dean: Who said anything about kinky sex? I was thinking about the class on disguise I taught. Bender took care of the horses at the Gig, Liz was on time at the Arms Hotel, Romeo was worried about the future of the Pixie Dust, and Lacey decided to change coffee providers at Luke's Diner.
Daisy wondered about the eternal question of paperwork at the Trooper Station and had a lunch date with Tony DiNozzo who is still being a doubting Thomas -- or doubting Tony in this case -- about Fandom weirdness. Dude, trust me, this place is weird. Take it on faith, you really don't want the island to prove it to you.
Doubting Tony was also snuck up on by Gibbs, who also exchanged greetings with Daisy.
The Imperial Brim was open with Irulan in charge. I'm assuming this is a hat store because that seems to be the topic that came up most when people dropped by: Alice suggested a hat day and Jill and Dinah tried on hats. But there was also discussion about pie between Dinah and Irulan. Mmmmm, pie....
And keeping with the hat motif, Eliza was wearing an awesome hat to the flower shop, where Biff stopped by to buy a tree and talk about an old friend who wasn't a camel. Good that we can get the camel thing clarified; I know whenever I talk to someone about an old friend, I wonder if they're a camel. Or not.
Turtle was working at Cabot and Associates, where Alex had a teabag and, one would extrapolate, tea. Zack and Dinah had a date at JGOB, with biscuits. But over at the Magic Box, Alex had neither tea nor biscuits, just Harper complaining about classes.
Is it just me or is this broadcast making you hungry too?
Sam: Not as hungry as you're probably getting, but that's because everything makes you hungry.
Dean: Pie, Sammy.
Sam: I know, the magical P-word was said and now you can't think of anything else. Do you want to go try to find food?
Dean: What was your first clue?
Sam: I just wanted to check. That's all for this evening, folks. Thanks for listening to us yet again.
Sam: I hope everyone out there is in as good of a mood as Dean is tonight.
Dean: What he said.
Sam: Do I want to know what's causing the good mood, or is this something I shouldn't ask about for the sake of my sanity?
