Fandom Radio - Saturday, December 6, 2008
"Hello Fandom, I'm the Doctor and you're listening to a radio broadcast. That may seem fairly matter-of-fact to most of you, but if the men at the door and these notes are any indication, the island's animals have turned human. I've turned human before. Not all it's cracked up to be. Let's hope, for the animals' sake, it doesn't last.
School
Good ol' reliable Mac was at her post in the library with her new friend Poe. Poe who's in dire need of a haircut.
Dorms
Let's organise these reports by floor. First floor! Well, the stables. Aravis and her pup-turned-boy Ata went to check on Trenor who was a horse, but isn't anymore. Karal, good ol' Karal, calmed Trenor's nerves and they all had tea. Well, the notes don't say that, but let's assume they did.
Second floor! In 208, Robin the Frog isn't a frog anymore, he's a real boy. Someone should test and see if his nose grows long if he lies. Roommate Jack is a good candidate.
In 213, Ned thought he was being robbed, but it was actually his dog Digby who's now human and just wanted something to eat. Kaylee and the newly humanised Popples joined them.
Across the hall at 214 saw Evey's cat-now-human demanding food as well. They might have opposable thumbs, but that doesn't mean they know how to make a meal. Make sure you all feed your human-like animals. And animals? Try to remember your digestive system is a little different now. Too much grass will make you sick.
Third floor! It seems some animals are more attentive than others, because in 306 Summer's former rabbit Pancakes got coffee for her - his? - owner. I wonder if Pancakes can make pancakes.
In 308, there was a strange boy in Rikku's bed, but turns out it was a former animal, so Rikku's other half doesn't have to get homicidal. Same room, different side, Ella's bird Pento is a chatterbox. He used to be a bird. Is it really any surprise?
Down the hall at 311, Kaylee, pre-Ned visit, learned of Popples' existence as a human. Across the hall at 312, Prince Oscar Pedro was adjusting to the new size and form and promptly shoved Galliano out of the bed to get more room.
Next door in 314, Sweetie woke up his owner, Chuck Bass and Chuck Bass being Chuck Bass had no idea what was going on.
Poor Jan in 326 woke up human. Bit of a surprise, one minute you're a unicorn, the next a human. Try cupcakes. If you're going to be human, might as well take advantage of the human digestive system and eat as many sugary treats as possible. Only species in the universe who can handle that much sugar. Well, without transforming into a lizard.
Aaaand over in 332, there were no animal transformations, but Claire was fretting while getting ready for a date.
Fourth floor! Eve made Christmas plans in 410 and received a visit from a dumbfounded Adam, while over at 423, Hoshi came face to face with a very human Porthos. The Porthos that used to be a dog, not a Musketeer. Porthos was in good company, with Hinata's former cat Yei showing off her human colours. Seems it was all a bit too much for Hoshi, who escaped to talk to Jack.
Seems Reno in 429 didn't miss out on the festivities when Mako, now human, decided to put his new opposable thumbs to good use moving furniture.
The fourth floor common room got some action of its own. Amber made blueberry pancakes in the morning and Ben opted for popcorn and a cheerleader movie in the evening. A former pet now human Yoda came to give Ben a dressing down for the way he's been treated in the past. That's a lesson to take from all of this. Take good care of your pets. You never know when they'll turn into human form and be able to yell at you.
Mac and Poe joined them a short time later, in search of food. Hunter, former dog, couldn't pass up some popcorn since he's not normally allowed to have it. Temari didn't seem to have any animal afflictions or visitors, but she did have a natural aversion to the cheerleaders on the tele. Aaaand Robin-not-a-frog-anymore decided to take advantage of his new height and not have to crane his neck up to watch the cheerleaders.
Fifth floor! In 502, Romeo was writing but not having much luck with it. Dojima's cat Alea came in search of ice cream, providing Romeo with plenty of writing material or at least something to talk about in therapy.
Alice and Dinah had a pleasant evening together in 511, which is more than can be said for their neighbour. In 513 Jeff thought he was snuggling with Turtle, but it turned out to be Nana. Turtle was unimpressed and there was tackling involved.
Sokka was across the hall in 514 and had the displeasure of having his ear chewed on by a big man who used to be a chinchilla. There's a sentence I never thought I'd say.
Not far away in 515, Liz met the humanised Blackie and down the hall in 527, John discovered his turtle and fish were not only human, but senior citizens. Jaina couldn't stay away. Really, who could?
Town
Business roll call! viki opened the Arms Hotel and was sorry to see that the tiny horses from yesterday weren't around.
Tony offered free beer to anyone willing to help paint The Boards. Peyton came to the rescue with painting the backdrop and power tools and free beer lured Jack in to help assemble sets.
Hurley opened Groovy Tunes and blasted the greatest hits of the early 90s. You know, I'm not entirely sure that sentence is right as it's based on the assumption that any music in the early 90s could be considered a 'hit'.
It was free headdesk day at Turtle & Canary which Turtle indulged in. Marco didn't headdesk, but he did find out why Turtle was so into the practice - Jeff's dog turning into a large woman. Jan took my advice before he even heard it, tried a Squishy and had his first brain freeze. Aww your first brain freeze. You never forget your first. Sokka was brain freeze-free, but did try to set up a kiddie pool for Momo Junior to do the backstroke through popcorn. What is it with popcorn today?
Juno opened the Gig only to find that Bold and the sparrows were missing. Why? Well, they and Mr Twain were human, of course.
Daisy headed to Atlas Gym for a workout and Fast Eddie's was the site of Cal and Claire's date.
Marion had the task of opening Caritas, but she made Tino tape up the zombies. Tully introduced Mr. Twain to liquor, and Hunter and Scout came to see what all the fuss was about as they weren't normally allowed in as pets.
Around town, there were more realisations that animals were now human. For example, Cable found out about Tether, Linz woke up with Martha - wait, what? Ohh, her dog Martha, not Martha Martha. Tyler was then asked to feed said doggy-Martha, but declined. Deadpool found out about his fox's humanness. Max and Sam or Sam and Max, whichever you prefer, were less than pleased to find that they were very, very human. Murdock found that his dog, Houston, had a problem. Minsc was sceptical of a human Boo, and Rosie was pleased to see it wasn't just Bold that had a human attack. Robin and Fraser learned that having many dogs, on days like these, leads to much confusion and being eaten out of house and home.
MHA was the place to be if you wanted to hang out by the pool or if you were Loki or possibly both. Proudfoot admitted to her voyeuristic tendencies and Daisy convinced Loki to jump in the cold pool (or was it vice-versa?).
The squirrels, who are now very scruffy looking men with notebooks, and much more creepy now that they're in human form, joined Barbossa in the Park for gossip and rum. Said rum-supplying pirate then took pictures of Lindsay and Dog-Martha as they walked by. Max posed for the paparazzi, who lapped up the attention. They didn't seem to mind that she was waving a gun around and threatening to shoot their boss's hat.
It was business as usual at the clinic, with Ino during the day and the nurses at night.
As if that wasn't enough news for the day, there was the monthly market in the park. Jack Knight was selling collectibles and vintage goods, which Daisy suggested he should try to sell on eBay. Claudia was back with her handmade art. Daisy commissioned a custom piece and Tully bought himself a painting for the lighthouse.
The Cabbage Merchant was selling cabbages, as cabbage merchants do, but it was all tears in the end when Jack and Robin skateboarded into the cart, Tether tackled the Cabbage Merchant for no apparent reason and Momo Jr. and Sokka once again destroying the Cabbage Merchant's livelihood.
Eleanor was selling herbal goods at the Sara's Secrets booth, Ms Eliza had her Covent Garden Flowers booth open, which Mr Twain was tempted by (for eating, I think). Daisy complimented Eliza on the arrangements, and Angela put in a request for mistletoe. Watch out, boys.
J,GOB, the Perk and Winter Delights had very empty booths. But there was plenty of places to sit, which Nate and Wade took part in while their pets did some tackling and Mr Twain caught up with Tully.
And that's all from the radio booth. Goodnight to all, whether you're human, only human for now or not human at all. This is the Doctor, signing off."
