Fandom Radio - Saturday, October 25, 2008
The Doctor: "Oh, is it Saturday again? Must be, because I'm the Doctor, this is WTFH radio and squirrels are the bane of the universe. Yeah, you heard me. Oh, don't protest, you know it's true. I could be on Raxacoricofallapatorious and you'd find me with those notes on a Saturday night. Alright, come on. I have a soft spot for squirrels. Allons-y!
School
Well this makes up for last week. Mac's back in the library. Hello, Mac! Good to see you doing your thing. Since it's Parents Weekend - I'm not too sure on the punctuation of that - there were office hours on the weekend. Edward was showing off the sex education bits and pieces. David Fisher visited on behalf of Claire, Bart Bass - really? - ca- visited on behalf of Chuck, Tessie Stephanides stopped in for Cal, Kevin was there for Joan and Peter and Eva, Marco's parents, got the goss from Edward about their son's behaviour in class. Sam Carter had the Science Lab open where she met Rodney's big sister Jeannie.
Tyler managed to get to his office, as did Mohinder, Jean-Paul, Aly and Nathan.
Anakin got plenty of visitors wondering about their charges and Ethics, such as Solaris for Karal, Picard for Worf, Benicio for Savannah, Valentine for Ender, Charity for Molly, Kyp for Jaina and Dave for John. I'm sure Anakin only said nice things about you. Well, not really sure. Well, he probably said a lot of bad things about you if you weren't on your best behaviour. Maybe he disliked your hair. Have you seen his hair? It's hard to compete with that.
Miss Bennet was also subject to visitors. Picard stopped in for Worf and they had a cup of tea, Tseng was there for Reno, and Miss Bennet got a visit from another Miss Bennet who was there for the first Miss Bennet, not a student.
Constable Fraser was doing paperwork when someone called Maggie stopped in, followed by Robin, who lost someone named Katie. Murdock's only visitor was Jack Burton, whose Dad didn't come - aww Jack. Not to worry. Maybe next year. Mike was wasting time until B'Elanna - I like that, B'Eeeelanna - stopped in to talk about Naomi.
Principal Washburn got visitors in the form of Jonathan Archer for Hoshi and Benicio for Savannah. Benicio stopped in to see Minsc too, as did Weasel to find out about Minsc's teaching practices.
Deadpool knew how to draw in a crowd - biscuits! Weasel oohed and ahhed over Deadpool's new title, Katie shared her Canadian pride, Red enquired about Liz, and Dave learned from Deadpool that John is fat. Ghanima didn't offer any weight loss advice, but she did tell Jacen about Ben's Art of War class performance.

If you were up to no good, then it's your own fault if your parents find out about it on the radio. Come on, you should know better than that.
Ender hung out with a good book. Karal talked to Ender about their guests and Valentine came in shortly after to interrogate Karal. Politely, I hope.
Johnny and Savannah were up to no good, Temari found herself subject to a pinkification from Jamie, for which Ender provides a suggestion about revenge. Temari then yelled at Jamie about said pinkification and her brothers showed up.
There was a cheerleading exhibition in the Gym this afternoon. The audience was a decent size. Benicio had a chat to Eve, Orihime spoke to Ichigo, Abigail had a sign with Hannibal's name on it, presumably to cheer him on, Teddy talked to Phyla and Orihime, and Nancy and Dave chose to spend their afternoon boggling with popcorn over John being a cheerleader. Ned was there with Chuck, not sure if that's Bass or not, Billy looked out for his daughter Angela, Kermit was in the bleachers, Dick took Bruce to show off Ella, who in turn introduced Bruce and Dick to Mandy.
Amber brought popcorn too, Jaina met Nancy, Kevin came to see Joan, Summer came to show her school spirit and Missouri came to see with her own eyes that Sam is, in fact, a cheerleader. Johnny came to show his support for Savannah, Peter met Missouri and discussed the awkward topic of his conversation with Sam, of which Missorui approves, Mandy watched Ella's moves. B'Elanna and Cid also came to watch.
There were warm-ups and then it was a roll call for the cheerleaders: Savannah, Angela, John, Chad, Hannibal, Kaylee, Sam, Ella, Brooke, Robin, Peyton, Joan, Naomi, Rikku and Eve. Long list. Anyway, the exhibition was on, Kermit cheered for Robin, Savannah was flipping around, Joan was awkward but had plenty of enthusiasm, Rikku...okay, the squirrel says that Rikku's shakin' her money-maker and that's something I hope I'll never have to say again. There was also post-exhibition mingling, but hopefully it didn't include shaking...well, you know what I mean. Most of the mingling went on out on the Deck with Karal, Solaris and her guards, who were joined by Gavin who managed to embarrass Karal, Evey who felt under-dressed and Inara who was unsure, but polite nonetheless.

I don't say this often because of avoiding stereotypes even though I'm far from it, but blimey, you people were busy this weekend. I guess that's what happens when you double the island's population. No one showed up for me, but that's for the best.
Let's change it up a bit and start with the Clinic, where Ino was visited Isshin who wanted to know if she'd made a man out of his son yet. Oh, he must be Jamie's father."
*chitter*
"No? Nevermind what I said then. Ignore the pinkification comment earlier too. All was quiet in the evening when the nurses had clinic duty.
Okay, the Arms Hotel, hub of activity except for the Park which was jam-packed and we'll get to later. Hellboy came looking for food and Viki...who are you?"
Friday: "Friday Next. Who are you?"
The Doctor: "I'm the Doctor. Are you lost?"
Friday: "Not really. I came looking for pizza, but saw the light on and thought I'd have a look."
The Doctor: "Excellent. Here, they're all yours. Read from there. I'm off to see if there's any food left at the party."
*door opens and slams*
Friday: "What? Um, okay. Hi, it's Friday. Well, no it's Saturday, but I'm Friday and I guess I'm reading the rest of this unless anyone else conveniently stops in. Where was he?"
*chitter*
Friday: "Okay, thanks. Charity and Harry, um, had breakfast in the restaurant. I don't know what restaurant. Teddy's sister Phyla was here unlike my sister or Mum or Dad who couldn't make it. Not that I'm upset about that. That'd be stupid. One of the squirrels is giving me the evil eye, so I think I'll stick to the notes without commentary. Um, Teddy told Phyla about all the cool stuff to do in Fandom. John showed Nancy around, but the squirrel doesn't like her because some of these notes are written in capital letters with not very nice things about Nancy. Don't shoot the messenger? Kermit gave Robin a pep talk in the swamp. We have a swamp? Aly and Roy had a quiet morning in bed and that's more than I ever wanted to know about the Dean and the Sheriff's personal lives. This is why I don't often listen in.
The Doctor Jones who's named after a state babysat Marion's son with his Dad, Mohinder, Molly and Matt had an alliterative evening in at Mohinder's apartment. Arashi relaxed on his porch. Biff tried to get rid of an angel named Raziel who was infesting his house. Barney came downstairs to help, but really didn't, and then introduced everyone to his brother James. Raziel called Vala a harlot when she came in, which usually doesn't end well, and then she talked to Barney about meeting James.
I wonder if my pizza's ready yet. Maybe I should have gotten Ching Tai like Professor Durden, Marla, Tony, Rhodey and Pepper who actually sound like they're a pop band from back home. The band didn't last, because Tony, Pepper and Rhodey went back to Tony's place afterwards to talk about Tyler and Marla. A few more minutes and then I'm out of here, okay?"
*chitter*
"I'm just warning you ahead of time so you don't attack me and eat my guts. What? I heard about it on Man vs. Wild. Squirrels did that to a dog once.
Unrelated, but Hurley opened Groovy Tunes where Gonzo - that Gonzo? - gave him an autograph. Um, so over at Turtle & Canary, Turtle's blonde sister Angela opened up the shop, introduced herself to G'Kar, and someone named Ba - like the sheep, I think - demanded milk because he drank all of Murdock's. Harper came to do some shopping while Angela was there.
Toby, who hasn't been eaten by a lion yet, brought his, um, friend Adam to Pixie Dust. Cal and Tessie went to the spa for the day, Temari got a delivery from that flower place and the mayor was at the gun shop. The coffee shop had Dojima talking to Juliano and Hellboy ordering gallons upon gallons of coffee.
Kurogane opened Cafe Fina where Temari and Gaara stopped to eat, Luke's Diner had chili cheese dogs as a special, which Lacey's visitor Brent loved. And this is the last bit for me, because I'm going to go get my pizza and no, sorry squirrels, I don't care who you get to do it because I'm hungry and emo. Sora went to the beach and met Kairi, who he was really happy to see. Okay?"
*door opens*
Edmund: "I don't think I've ever been manhandled by rodents before. It's not an experience I'd like to repeat. Is this the wireless station?"
Friday: "Yep. All yours. I'm off to get pizza."
Edmund: "What am I supposed to do?"
Friday: "Read! It's good for you brain."
*door slams*
Edmund: "Hello? Is this working? This is Edmund. Pevensie. If my sisters and Mr Tumnus are listening, sorry, I'll be back when I can. I didn't mean to get waylayed by squirrels, but they're very insistent. I think there's just the party in the park left, oh and Caritas, so this shouldn't take too long. Except for the part where there's several pages of this. Can't you just ask your friends about it? Ow! Acorn throwing is uncalled for. No, so is rum bottle throwing, show some manners. I'll read the party notes.
There was a party in the park this evening for the invited and uninvited guests of Fandom residents. Food and drink were provided. Jaina neglected to inform her guest, Kyp, about Professor Skywalker's presence, which was a point of contention. Doctor Tam was looking to eat his pizza in peace, but found Brooke instead. Irene hadn't expected to find a Talking Frog in Fandom, but find one she did. His name is Robin and his guest, Gonzo, who is a...well, actually, I'm not sure what he is, but he found Gonzo.
Blair chose not to eat, but instead caught up with her friend Nate, who was then informed about the school by Chuck Bass who I'm told is quite the gentleman, as well he should be. Serena hoped to reacquaint herself with Blair, but Blair declined the invitation. Chuck Bass, a perfect gentleman, felt their gathering was more like a family reunion.
Bruce Wayne met Irene Merryweather in the buffet line, while Kyp spoke to Jacen and John, who sought Kyp's approval of Fandom.
Katie arrived without her sister, who I must assume from the notes was supposed to be there. Mandy sought out friends of Ella, Andros escorted Zhane to the food table, where Charlotte was also enjoying the food. Professor Suresh told Matt about the day when genders were changed about, Isshin surveyed the party, Ella ate and people watched, David spoke about his desire to have Claire no longer take Professor Cullen's class and was then introduced to Hurley, who also spoke briefly with Claire.
Summer came to the party alone, Jess and his uncle Luke talked to each other about classes and Professor Skywalker. Buffy then arrived to interrupt the conversation, which was quite awkward for Jess.
Kevin enjoyed the party, as did my sister Susan and myself, especially when our younger sister Lucy and friend Mr Tumnus arrived unexpectedly.
Mary and her sisters tried all sorts of food on offer, while Turtle who was not Angela her sister spoke to Marco's parents and learned that they had met Angela earlier in the day. Marco's friend Jake was also present for the festivities.
Liir and Trism engaged Tony and Henry in conversation, while a fellow named Derian looked quite lost.
Chuck Bass made advances towards Katie, which were unfortunately reciprocated in a rather inappropriate way in public. It's enough to put anyone off their food, but Tony and David hadn't seen it, so they enjoyed their food. Tully was also at the party, but it doesn't say whether or not he had any food while he was there. Cal introduced Amber to his mother, John reluctantly gave back Chuck's scarf, which gave some confusion about John's identity, but it was cleared up when Nate and John engaged in introductions. John and Serena meet for the first time and the squirrels feel that I should point out that their hair is 'fabulous'.
John and Jaina considered an early night, but instead chose to dance. Johnny stayed close by to the food and Angela and Hannibal engaged in courtship in a much more acceptable way than Chuck Bass and Katie. Angela then spoke to Peyton about meeting Angela's father.
B'Elanna and Naomi were glad for each other's company and discussed cheerleading and boys. Meanwhile, Brent and Hanabi decided to watch people. Jaina and Cal checked in with each other, Claire and Cal discussed her brother and a speculative art project and Hannibal found the food.
Lee spoke to Hurley about his guest, Kara, then met Irene and discussed her plant-growing magic. Chouji, forgive my pronunciation, made his association with Ino known, which led to Ichigo, Cal, Kankurou and Tony coming to speak with him.
Kara, er, well, she was quite frank about being open to new experiences while here in Fandom. Liir ran into Inoichi, hopefully not in a literal sense, and Abigail and Angela discussed Hannibal's possible hidden profession as a gigolo. I...I'm not exactly sure what that is, but I don't think I want to know. Let's talk about something else.
Brent was pleased to meet Eliza, and Bruce complimented Eliza's flower arrangements. Harry was surprised to see Lea there, but they had a quiet discussion. Tony showed his friend Henry around, Peyton was looking very nice, Tessie avoided the healthier foods and Peyton talked to Brooke about being a surrogate family to each other and there's something about a hook. Oh, hook-up. A hook-up. I think I have a bit of catching up to do with modern slang.
Lasaraleen and Aravis looked their best, but Aravis was not pleased to be there. Irene was as there was chocolate. Hurley and Buffy were giving it their best efforts. Angela confronted Ichigo about him avoiding her, for which he apologised. Kara's attempt to confront Jacen wasn't as successful, but Brooke's was. Sort of.
Marco discussed getting a car from his parents, Daisy delighted in the food on offer, Humphrey, Jan and Dor found a place to sit together and Dor asked a question of Humphrey for Jan.
Aside from food, there was also dancing, which John and Jaina did. I think I'm finished. Can I please go now?"
*chitter*
Edmund: "Oh, Caritas."
Alan: "Don't worry about it. I'll get Caritas."
Edmund: "Where did you come from?"
Alan: "I'm very good at being sneaky. Go on, I'll finish up."
Edmund: "Thank you, sir."
*door opens and closes*
Alan: "This place brings back memories. Hello, Fandom! You don't know me yet. Alan of Pirate's Swoop, at your service, which I think is a bit appropriate considering this is pirate radio. I was at Caritas tonight, so this won't take long at all and then I'm going to put on a good playlist so you can dance the night away, if that's your sort of thing. Aly, if you're listening, I'll be back with the Chinese food soon. Okay Caritas! What did everyone get up to tonight? Let me see...ahhh yes. Here we go.
Our lovely hostess Marion was in a wonderful mood, and the service was as well. I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Willy Singer, but he was up on stage and singing. Had a lovely voice, in an odd sort of way. The bar itself was full of hustle and bustle, but come on, what Parents Weekend isn't? Willy was very interested in the zombie band, as were Rusty and Danny. Loki regaled to Marion the tale of how he was told off by a child for foul language and he was then mistaken by Rusty for someone he knew. Tyler who, if you were listening earlier, had been into the alcohol by this stage, asked Loki if he was a parent or loved one. I don't know what the response was, but surely someone out there loves Loki, as long as he hasn't been up to too many tricks as his name implies. Hellboy made a memorable entrance, but our dear Marion took it all in her stride. Robin escaped her sister and her boyfriend's sister and met Marion for the first time. Benvolio, Romeo and Dojima met for drinks and a lively discussion of a man named Father Juliano.
Irene and Bruce discussed the finer points of their home cities - Gotham versus New York. I could have many things to say, but they would all get me a lecture about time travel, so I'm going to press on. Marla and Tyler built up a respectable tab and then moved on to Marla's hotel minibar. Sam, that's Carter not any other kind, decided to make the bar her home for the evening and ordered her drink from Marion. Then I happened by and introduced myself, in a manner of speaking. My sister Aly joined in on the conversation a short time later. There was talking, there was drinking, all in all a fun time for all. That was three alls. I did drink a lot of whiskey tonight. Forgive me, Fandom.
A rather large gentleman named BA ordered milk and frowned upon drinking alcohol. Sorry man, but I think you might be on the wrong island. Over in the lounge, I caught my little sister unawares and then met her latest conquest Roy, who has a death wish. It's amazing the people you meet when you stop by for a weekend.
Anyway, I'm all out of notes. I could sit here and chat away to you all evening, but there's food to be had and I'm to be introduced to something called America's Next Top Model. So, for now, I say farewell, Fandom. We'll meet again. And goodnight from the people who spoke before me. I'm sure they would love to be here, but they had other places to be. You know how it is. Here's some music to keep you going."
