Fandom Radio, Monday, August 13th
So, uh, that was definitely a weekend, huh? I'm not even going to do some kind of crazy preamble today, Fandom. I'm Kanan Jarrus, I'm probably not even half as exhausted as some of you are, and here's what we survived yesterday.
As you probably know, the woods kept kidnapping people right on until yesterday morning. Detective Diaz, one of Fandom's finest, was the one to finally get to the bottom of where we could breach the darkness, by following Peridot to where the shadows were the weakest. The squirrels also made some crack about pet-sitting services, which I assume means that Peridot, you should probably find the detective at some point to get your pet back. Miguel was up bright and early pulling due diligence trying to find a way in, too, which meant Detective Diaz got to check out his tights before he agreed to share his coffee.
In an example of Fandom's law enforcement actually getting the job done and making things happen, out there in the woods, it was the Detective's chat with the Mayor that got the ball rolling on the hands-on rescue efforts. Some troopers lit up the weak point in the barrier, and after facing down against some angry salt and pepper shakers, the free-for-all began.
Yes, it did involve Rey and I throwing down against a teddy bear and an angry flower. Yes, Aloy did stab a pepper shaker with a spear. That's kind of what we were up against, for those who didn't venture into the woods at all.
And, as it turns out, it was all that damn fish after all. Can I say that on the air? Do I care? He buried Zack in confetti, kept healing as Gratuity put her sword lessons to work - I'm proud of you, Gratuity. He was pretty impervious to Miguel's webbing, too. Yang kept blowing him up even though he kept getting better, karking nightmare fish, Sabine tried blasters and glitter before he shook her off, Sidon felt well and truly betrayed, and I think Skywalker was mostly just digruntled about that whole thing where if you say something around here, you've jinxed it. That's some hell of a jinx, Anakin.
Anyway, there's probably some kind of important lesson about being understanding about differences or something, because it was Rufus talking it out with Billy and then fixing his plaque to say that he was 'On Santa's Nice List' that finally saved the day and sent the fish flying off, hopefully never to be seen or heard from again.
Look, I don't know this Santa guy, but clearly he hasn't been paying attention.
While all of the fish fighting was going on, elsewhere in the woods, people were on rescue missions, trying to find their missing friends. Lady Ghanima managed to snap Reno out of whatever it was he was facing, and Hernando and I went after Kaidan. Detective Diaz kept up the good work with a rescue for Cristina, Raven did some picture stabbing for Hardison, Dr. Lecter shot a cell phone, which sounds like overkill but given everything else in there, no, it probably wasn't, and then pretty much carried Jonothon out. Clint found Kitty and proved he was really himself before getting her out of there. Good. Peridot basically yelled and swung a stick at things until a rope stopped tormenting Jason, then Peter and Constantine joined forces against some demons, said some things, I'm pretty sure none of those things were polite. Don't blame them. Iris got princess-carried out by Zack, probably mostly because he could and less because she actually needed it. Aloy found Astrid, Tony found Steve, and it sounds like Ahsoka held it together enough to have a bit of a reckoning of her own with her lightsabers.
Which leaves us with the aftermath. There were more than a few pieces to pick up again. Probably still are, considering some of the scars that got torn open yesterday.
Cristina made her way to the clinic to help take care of some of the more physical ones, and Reno and Ghanima made their way in for treatment in the wake of what happened in the woods. Good to know there's someone reliable in there who can handle this stuff.
Rufus was in his room in the dorms, mulling over what happened in the woods while chatting to his dog. No snide comment there, since he actually saved the day and all. Besides, who doesn't chat with their dog?
Tony was nursing Steve back to health in his apartment, which involved talk about how Steve and Hardison aren't much for foraging and a chat about how to handle situations like this in the future. Dr. Lecter brought Jonothon home, cleaned him up, and did what he could to get him out of his own head. And Hernando brought Kaidan back to his place at the Arms, let him get cleaned up and fed him, and then they talked it out for a bit before Hernando tattled to Sparkle, who caught a portal out and showed up with ice cream delivery and a threat to yell it out at Kaidan for getting hurt.
And that's probably the longest radio full of sensitive news about vulnerable people that I've ever had to wake up to on a Monday morning, so... enjoy that note to start your week on, I guess. I'm going to go walk my dog or something.
Hang in there, Fandom. You made it.
