Fandom Radio, Monday, March 5th

Good morning, whoever is left on the island today. That's, what, the grownups? Good morning, grownups of Fandom Island. This is Kanan Jarrus, with all the Monday notes about Sunday that you probably don't care about anyway. Looks like the squirrels have found a way to get notes here from China, which is mostly only impressive if you consider the fact that they're too tiny to carry a phone around to text them back here with.

I'm going to start with the notes from town, though, because that way the people not on the trip can turn off their radios before anything worth being jealous about comes up. At Luke's I was apparently the only member of the staff who didn't think the bird family reunion at table eight wasn't weird. And that includes Eliot, who lives on an island where squirrels wear little hats and get drunk over the radio. Summer didn't think much about the birds, at least. She was more interested in getting a to-go milkshake before heading to the causeway for the trip. She'll do just fine in our galaxy, I think.

Jono was lecturing the stereo about... polka spoilers? At Groovy Tunes. I have no idea what that means. I might be happier that way. And at Demon Marcus, Sparkle was unpacking cute raincoats to help cope with having to miss out on the school trip. Seivarden stopped in to get new gloves because she keeps using hers as toys for her cat. They do make cat toys, you know. Iris came in demanding to be entertained, and after some talk about a fashion show and then fire, she actually wound up taking Sparkle out to the beach and teaching him how to throw fireballs using marbles. Huh. Sounds like a neat trick. And Sparkle got some texts from Sia, and I really have to wonder how the squirrels could tell that they were texting about their respective boredoms and frustrations. They say they're excited to see what Sparkle does with his office, though. Whatever that means.

If you're stuck on the island and don't want to hear all about the school trip, here's where you turn off the radio. Aloy was the first one to the causeway yesterday morning to wait for the portal to China. Students and teachers alike gathered there and mingled around for the trip, like Norman, who chatted with Mara about whether he packed enough clothes and what kind of jobs there were on the island so that he could have some pocket money again after the trip. Peridot and Aloy speculated about what the Communist Party was and whether actual partying was involved. I, uh, I doubt it, guys. And Sidon and Breq chatted about how they were excited for the trip, and how much bigger Earth is compared to Sidon's homeworld. Yeah, you get that sometimes. I still think this planet is cute.

The vacationers arrived at their destination, The Brickyard Retreat hotel sometime in the afternoon, and got themselves set up in the hotel rooms there. They made it in time for dinner, though Dante seemed more interested in the drinks, which Peebee teased him about, and they chatted about how trips to the other side of this planet generally aren't as easy as some of us are used to trips around one single planet being.

In the Lodge, Summer lectured Paris about reading while on vacation all the way on the other side of the world. A handful of the students gave the jacuzzi a try, and Breq and Gratuity chatted about their respective jacuzzi experiences. The grounds were open for exploration, too, and while Mara didn't seem terribly impressed by the wall, that wasn't going to stop her from suggesting to Rey that they attempt to climb it.

Mara, that's a terrible idea.

Let me know how it goes.

And that seems to be all the notes, so I'm going to take off, now. Maybe take the Escape up and see if I can spot this China place I'm reading so much about. Kanan out.
