Fandom Radio, Sunday, January 3
Good morning! If this is your first time tuning into the radio here, welcome to Fandom and I hope you're having a good experience so far. I'm Sam Winchester and I'm here with everything the squirrels caught you doing yesterday. It's a little weird, but you'll get used to it.
I'm going to set these school notes aside for the moment, since they're all about the picnic, and see what else went on yesterday. In the dorms, Ezra unpacked his bags, which contained clothes and... multiple wallets and phones. He must be very important to need multiple phones, that's what I'm going with. Rey got settled into her room, despite not having much to get settled, but that state doesn't always last for long around here. In town, Leto and Sparkle met up at the gym for knife training, mostly attack and defense after Leto found out what other weapons Sparkle had used before. At Groovy Tunes, Jono was going through a box of hipster music--I mean vinyl albums; Hannibal checked out the new records and Bob stopped in so Jono could read to him. And at Caritas, Mike was managing the bar with snacks he'd taken from the picnic. I definitely should have grabbed a plate of leftovers for this morning.
Now, let's see what actually happened at the picnic. As usual, all the new folks got to meet their new siblings; Velma was surprised to be in Fandom, but Eric was waiting to meet her with pie, so they at least started off on the right foot. Jalian didn't waste any time in explaining multidimensional stuff to Lucille, who was a little more weirded out by the explanation than Skaar was when Ada talked to him. Then she explained radio squirrels and... yeah, that didn't go as well.
*chittering*
I'm sorry, you're a little hard to understand at first. They'll come around, don't worry. Frank also made sure to fill Laura in on some of the weird stuff, while Ringo helped Rey start to figure out Portalocity so she can try to get back home. Aww, that doesn't sound so good. Raven Queen ended up with Raven Darkholme as a sister, because why not, and they talked about having the same name and the look of the school. Then, everyone got to find out their roommate situation--Velma and Skaar bonded well, which is always a concern with guy/girl roommates, and Lucille and Raven seemed to get along as well. Rey ended up with Eric as a roommate, which meant she also got pies. Someone is likely making a good first impression on the ladies there. Over with the teachers, Atton and Electroclash compared their holidays and made fun of the French, because why not. A new teacher named Fred was out in all his superhero regalia--Electroclash gave him a heads up that some students have powers, and Hannibal checked in with Fred since they're teaching buddies. Fred also recognized Tony, so odds are he won't be as fazed by the multidimensional thing. Kitty gave Laura a surprise lesson in multidimensional stuff because Laura knows another version of her, and Kitty and Hardison bonded over being Chicago natives. Hardison also talked to Eliot about how he got roped into teaching with Pinkie Pie, and speaking of Ms. Pie, she and Fred got off to a great start and decided to be friends in crimefighting and world saving. That doesn't sound at all terrifying, really.
Over by the food table, Velma got excited over the food, and Ezra warned her that this kind of spread isn't a daily thing. Until you open the common room cabinets, of course. Velma also talked to Kathy about cheesepuffs and what she considers weird. Anders and Nathan took some time to get caught up after the break, and Lucille found a spot where she could people watch. Ringo showed Lucille her shoes, which she wasn't impressed by, Bob warned her about Fandom's strangeness by explaining that he's a ghost, and Kathy ended up giving Lucille homework because she was snippy. I... don't know if that will work, but it sounds amusing anyway. Mabel and her pig were at the picnic in sunglasses and puffy stickers, and Lucille was not impressed at all by Waddles. Laura, on the other hand, was very interested in Waddles, and that gave Mabel and Ringo a chance to get caught up after their holidays.
April had shorts on in spite of the weather, and she and Laura got to talking about pizza. Isabela and Ada talked about setting things on fire to deal with the cold. Hopefully outside in a safe way, at least. Anders and Kathy got caught up about the holidays and how everyone in Kathy's world thinks she's a superhero boy. That's not very fair at all. Ringo showed Ada how snowball fights work, while older!Raven decided to go blue for the picnic. She also got Lucille to be polite, right up until she started shapeshifting. Jalian and Raven got caught up, and Kathy congratulated Raven on talking to Lucille somewhat successfully. Skaar, it turns out, is large and green so he's kind of hard to miss. Ringo talked to him about what brought him to Fandom, and Kathy assured him that all the weird thing's he's heard about are true while he and Raven bonded over being not-normally-colored. New!Raven was walking around on heels, which caught Ezra's attention, in a good way. Kathy just wanted to compare shoes with her. Laura ignored the tables and went up into one of the trees with her food, which is a note I never thought I'd read. She and Kathy surveyed the picnic together, while Ringo talked to Laura about being "good different," which is a common thing here, I assure all of you. Hannibal teased Laura about growing onto the tree, and Kathy made sure Kira knew she remembered their plan to be shirtless at the June picnic.
That seems like a good, positive note to leave things on. To everyone who tuned in, have a great, safe week.
