Fandom Radio, Sunday, August 24th

Oh my god, squirrels really do run this place. This is amazing and creepy and weird and awesome.

Anyway, hi! I'm Johnny Storm, world-famous superhero on my world, apparently attention-whoring radio broadcaster here. But my attention whoring serves some purposes. I'm here to inform with all of the juicy gossip the squirrels - I again repeat, SQUIRRELS - have handed me. And I'm also here to make sure you get to know me. So hey there, you with the radio. Just so you know, I'm talking directly to you. Especially the ladies. Sorry, fellas, it's just the way I swing, but I still appreciate fan letters and Gary Stu fanfic from you, too. Just strive to make it flattering and not creepy. 'Kay?

Okay then, let's get this news train moving!

My notes tell me that we usually start with dorms news on a Sunday, but there wasn't any. Apparently everyone was too busy getting settled and/or not opening their doors.

And then some town stuff.

Jono was happy to be at Groovy Tunes, and he was even happier to get texts from Momoko planning a get-together.

Nikolai ignored the menu at the Arms because he was too busy making phone calls.

And Eliot showed up at Luke's looking all beat up because of a military coup.... Think I could use that excuse to get out of class at all?

But it looks like like I have no choice but to start talking about the Welcome Picnic. now.

Disclaimer: Remember, these notes were given to me, I'm just reading them. If for some reason you think I may be taunting you with weird lies, then it's probably for the best if you turn off the radio and get some fresh air. Okay? Okay.

So, we new kids met out big sibs. Face got to weird Ichabod out about being from another planet, which is weird since Ichabod's the big sib. What are they teaching you guys here? I met the darling and beatiful Cosette, who I think I really hit it off with. She told me a lot of things to watch out for, but never mentioned her smile.

Kaylin found her little sib, Evie, and I'm sure that went well. Mara and Barry were rude and loud and cordial at each other, which is like having jumbo shrimp or something. Gwen's big bro Four wasn't really approachable... I'm guessing it's because he's a number with eyes like on Sesame Street. And Anders confused Travis with talk of magic, because apparently people don't have that stuff in their worlds. Weird, I know.

Then we had some roomie time. Fac managed to get Travis with his 'I'm from space' bit, since I guess Travis wasn't ready for it. Cosette met Evie and I hope that went well. I'm sure it was fine. And I think Mara and I make a good roommate team so far.

Over by the teachers, Pinkie Pie bugged Jayne, who didn't seem to appreciate it or being here or anything else. Atton was back and it seemed uncomfortable. ntil he got to talk to Sparkle about recent goings-ons. Atton also snarked with Kitty, his teaching buddy.

Karla didn't seem to know why she was here, but Hannibal did, so yay? The teaching buddy status amused Ghanima and Reno, and Karla was happy to see Ghanima.

Jayne complained to Zoe about being a teacher because apparently they know each other already. And Anakin was hiding from something when Karla approached to yell about having to teach. Personally, that's the kind of attitude I look for in my teachers.

But even with all of that stuff out of the picture, there was still more picnic to be had!

Minako freaked out about Evie's shoes, whereas I just accidentally upset her by showing off the fire thing. Jalian checked with Kathy to see how often new kids come in and Kira sat down to talk about the past few weeks.

Mara fangirled all over Face, and Kaylin asked Travis about how he got his scars. Not cool.

Sparkle sang to his cat when Minako tackle hgged him and hopefully didn't crush the cat. Hannibal greeted Sparkle with food instead of hugs.

Elsa talked to Barry about his wacky previous week and then I stopped by Elsa to make some clever temperature-related jokes.

Kaylin checked to see if Tamsin was a cop since that's hr dram job before telling me some stuff about her home world. And then Gwen checked in with me to compare notes on what we've heard so far, and that's when I learned that the radio wasn't full of squirrel-people, just squirrels.

*chitters*

It was a reasonable assumption!

Kaylin asked to be Four's sparring partner and I asked to share a tree with Felicity. I don't know how Kaylin's rquest went, but mine ended up in a very ncie conversation.

Hannibal was surprised when he saw Hatter at the picnic, especially since he's not teaching. And Hannibal was also surprised to see Kaylin hitting the free food so hard.

Gwen and Isaac bonded over being loners. And a lot of people noticed Minako's enthusiasm. I checked in to see what was so exciting and got some good answers, and Kathy shared her enthusiasm for the new semester.

Gwen checked with Kira to see if this good food thing was a trap and I found out that sometimes a girl with a knife on her body at all times can be dfficult to hit on, but not ncessarily for th reasons you'd think. So sorry about that, Jalian.

Atton and Sia caught up and it was all kinds of awkward. Kaylin talked to Gwen about the police, which didn't go over well. Edward checked if Anders was looking for someone, and Kathy wanted to know if Anders felt mature now that he's not one of the new kids anymore.

Home stretch here. Gwen gave Alana some compliments on her wings, which mans I omehow didn't hit on a girl with wings, and I'm sorry for both of us. I promise to make it up to you sometime, Alana. Sparkle and Evie bonded over clothes. Elsa freaked out to Kathy about something Barry did. And Hannibal gave Kaylin a sandwich and some encouragement to heal herself, but she couldn't do it.

Well, there were a couple technical issues goddammit, LJ, but overall think that went well. If you have any questions or comments or would just like to get to know the man behind the voice, let me know.
