Fandom Radio, Saturday, August 24
Kaidan: Hey, good morning, Specialist.
Sam: Morning, Commander. Awful weather outside. ...Er, sorry. I must be tired if I'm making small talk about the weather.
Kaidan: Didn't get a lot of sleep last night?
Sam: Not what you might call 'a comfortable amount.' That's all right, though.
SCHOOL
Kaidan: Just to kick things off, Professor Barton finishes his last class with cookies. Then Bay added to the sugar pile by bringing him some candy as a thank-you gift for having her back during the invasion. Jack assigned a final paper in Detecting class, while Professor… Batman asked everyone to reflect on the class. Wait, isn't he the guy who…?
Finally, Monsters class covered the monsters we all had to deal with last weekend. Might be a little late - I hope none of you will have to deal with them again in the future.
TOWN
Kaidan: Okay, looks like Priestly's hair was normal and it put some people off at the Diner. Okay. I can see that. Derek wound up jogging around the preserve with his dog - which I can't see - and Allie thought about running out early on her shift. Don't, you can use the money.
Anyway, apparently I missed a charity gala in the park? Not that I mind. I'm not that much of a crowd person. Lot of people did show up, though, and Karina had them covered. She greeted Jaina by explaining how she'd rolled into this last-minute. Rilla got compliments on her shoes instead, and then they talked about how they knew the guy running this gala. Or rather, Rilla did. Emma turned up looking great as per usual. I don't think 'not bad' covered it, Cade-- I mean. Uh. Never mind.
Sam: ...You're quite right. *cough*
Kaidan: Anyway, Emma asked Karina whether she was Wayne's assistant for real now, but it's just a temporary thing. I guess Wayne is the guy who set the whole thing up? He complimented Emma. As did Jack. Josh was also around - I think that accounts for pretty much all of my roommates-- no, wait, Bruce. Anyway, Josh wanted more big fake checks, or at least that's what he told Kitty. Then he got back to drinking, because, as he told Karina, that makes him feel less old. Can't say that's ever worked for me.
Sam: Speaking as a former bartender, the trick is ordering drinks that no respectable adult would ever consume. Does wonders for nostalgia, as far as I know.
Kaidan: Do I really wanna know?
Sam: Probably not, sir.
Kaidan: Emma teased Josh about his clothes, which… they're just clothes, Emma. Wayne said the giant checks were a deliberate choice because they get more people to give money. Really? I'm a little skeptical about that. Then Karina greeted Kitty with some compliments.
Sam: Nikolai told Karina he was out and about because he had been going a bit stir-crazy in his hotel room - I know the feeling. He then spoke to Bruce Wayne about where all the money was going. Orphanages, apparently. Hannibal spoke to Karina about donating without using a giant check, which just takes all of the fun out of it, and when he was told that he was able to, he assured Bruce that he was pleased to be giving to a good cause. Sparkle spoke with Hannibal about school and food, and Jack and Hannibal met and discussed what they're each teaching.
Sam: Sparkle looked quite nice, according to Karina, who informed him that he cleans up well. Of course, then they spoke about… throwing tomatoes and drinking absinthe, which I hope didn't happen at this event. Sparkle told Bruce that he was rather surprised by how many people had come out to donate, but in a good way. Tony shared much the same sentiment to Karina, though Hanna then broke the pattern by speaking to Karina about clothes and the… physical attractiveness of many of the guests.
Kaidan: Seems like it was a, uh, recycled topic. Too.
Sam: Quite. Bruce thanked Hanna for coming and Karina for volunteering. It is quite a lot of work that she had to do. Jack was surprised by the fact that the party had a greeter, though Karina thought it fit the sort of party that this was. And then Jack and Bruce caught up about goings-on in their lives.
Cade offered to get Karina a drink, and she settled on a soda. Bruce arrived fashionably late, and he caught up with Jaina about her summer activities, as well as Rilla and finally Tony, who inquired about Bruce's company.
And I believe that's it, Fandom. Thank you for listening to a longer radio than usual, and enjoy the rest of your week.
Kaidan: This was WTFH radio-- intruding on your privacy. Again.
