Fandom Radio, Sunday, August 18th
I can hear myself talk again, and this is the news! Let's just dive straight in because yesterday was somewhat eventful.
And we're starting, of course, with the bit of fun that informed EVERYTHING ELSE THAT HAPPENED. Namely, a bunch of weird freaky bird vampires called wakwaks flew over from Ingvar just as everyone on the island went deaf. But I hardly had to tell you either of those things, did I?
Over the the library, Cassidy was a tad freaked out. Loki was upset when he ran into the library, and he and Cassidy managed to communicate via the power of texting.
Over at the campground, Alec was standing guard with his bow and arrows.
And in the dorms, where people without bows retreated, Bay set up a movie day in the third floor common room. Cordelia didn't let everyone's deafness stop her from complaining about the day. Mira tried advertising her tracking skills to anyone looking for someone in town, which Bay was a little worried about. Cordelia thought Mira was nuts, and she couldn't communicate very well with Jackson, who was himself not up for movie day, even though Bay tried to convince him to stick around. Kenzi was more than happy to stay inside, though, and had a notepad conversation with Bay about Bay's sister, who's deaf.
Jim was in his room, watching things happen outside when Natalie stopped in, covered in the blood of bird-vampire-things.
In the evening, Clint took over dorm and campground bow and arrow patrol, and he had a chance to save Bay before they started signing with each other. Bo was also patrolling in her role as security and with her and Clint combined, they fought monsters.
Over in town, Kaidan spent his day shooting wakwaks by the causeway when Hannibal showed up and Kaidan and Dean helped him to safety from the monster attacks. Dean and Kaidan also spent time shooting wakwaks together, but Dean kept talking despite the deafness going on. And Batman somehow ran over a flying monster with a luggage cart, but Kaidan didn't seem to care about that.
Clint and Kitty dealt with waking up deaf in a way that I can't discuss on a family show.
Back to the violence, Goose was shooting wakwaks in the park when Batman showed up and started using explosives. Over by the warehouses, James got his fight on using a sword. And Electroclash and April hung out in April's apartment while all the weird stuff was happening.
Nikolai was showing off his scars from a wakwak attack at the Arms. And by "showing off," I mean "treating." Speaking of wakwak attacks, Batman was in the middle of a fight with one when he ended up in the hotel and grabbed the luggage cart I mentioned earlier. And after Hannibal discovered he couldn't hear the second he stepped onto the island, he also ended up at the hotel, where he helpfully stitched Nikolai up.
Derek sniffed around the preserve while he waited for something when Jackson showed up. And shortly after Jackson, some wakwaks showed up, so there was fighting. Stiles had a similar encounter, except he didn't do any of the fighting and Derek ended up ripping his clothes off to check for damage. Jack found Derek, they were attacked again, and they both went werewolf and fought the wakwaks. Batman changed things up by finishing a fight with a wakwak in front of Derek before handing over a note explaining what exactly a wakwak is.
Dean cleaned his weapons at Luke's, where Éponine had an unfortunate run-in with a wakwak. Fortunately, at least one of Dean's guns was ready for shooting so he saved the day and served her breakfast. Then Sam Winchester stopped in and Dean served him a spare gun, for using.
Over at Stark's, I had a quiet day and cleaned the back room. Things were getting messy back there, but it's all good now.
Jono was on the roof of the Boards, blasting away at wakwaks with sonic blasts. Because let's not forget, sound waves can be felt, even if they can't be heard. That's science for you. Natalie joined Jono with her bow and arrow before they ended up tkaing a coffee break. Victor was chased up the fire escape and ended up dispatching a few wakwaks with Jono. And in a mirror of that, Batman chased a wakwak by running across the roof and jumping on its back.
Ender set up shop in an abandoned house in case anyone needed shelter. Flick could have used that because he got chased into Needful Things. And over at The Devil's Nest, Bo was in a good mood after her experiences with the wakwaks earlier in the day and Jaye was picky about the beer selection.
Jaina hit the streets in the afternoon, looking for wakwaks and messing them up when she found them, and Batman was in another freaking place, tackling a wakwak out of the sky in front of Jaina.
Allie was hanging out in the park with her sword and some former bits of wakwak. Batman was taking down wakwaks there too when he and Allie had another random wakwak encounter. Kitty showed up for some female bonding time while fighting monsters, and Allie was ready to be back up for Robin in a wakwak fight, but it was unnecessary. Allie ended up having some trouble with yet another wakwak, but fortunately Drac was there to hypnotize the wakwak into taking offoff.
Yes, I waited until the last note before doubling another word. I showed impressive restraint, you have to admit.
Okay, I'm done here, I can hear, and nothing's going to attack me if I wander outside. So I'm gonna call it a day.
