Fandom Radio, Thursday, May 10

Good morning, folks, and a special hello to all the new people who are probably still getting a handle on being followed by squirrels and having people talk about them. You get used to it eventually, I promise. To help, let's dig right into the juicy stuff from yesterday.

Up at the school, it seems classes are well back in session. Sherlock Holmes started The Art of Disguise by talking about recognition, and the things that need to be disguised. The students talked about what they hoped to get out of the class, and then paired up and took turns describing each other. Frank and Darcy described each other before Darcy distracted Frank with the internet, and Peeta and Butters talked about how height and build are hard to disguise. Not if you're willing to wear heels and layers! Just saying. Sam and Lex argued over which traits would be the most difficult for the other person to hide, George was thorough in talking about himself to Alex, including that he smells of lemons, and William was very thorough in his description of Natalie. Not dirty? Maybe.

Summer Pitt welcomed everyone to Surf's Up, her usual summer-fun class. The students did their introductions, including how much experience they have surfing, and then grabbed boards and headed into the water. Kennedy had her first Kicking Butt class - is that what it's--I meant to say--never mind--and talked about how it's basically about fighting together without fighting each other. The students did their introductions again, with a mention of powers and how they might be useful in a fight, and when Victor left something out in his introduction, Topher called him on it, and got a little lesson in not telling other people's life stories to people the original person doesn't know. We'll see if it sticks. Bobby and Squall were there as Kennedy's TAs, and Angelica talked to Bobby about how things got kind of bad at home, but she's back in Fandom for good now and is very happy about it. See, that's why we do this, because the news isn't always embarrassing!

Finally, Electroclash had her first session of Heroics, Fame, and You which is apparently all about cashing in on being a superhero. Okaaaaay. The students introduced themselves and got new nicknames from Electroclash, and so did Rinoa, who's Electroclash's grad TA, and who Electroclash decided can't be trusted with her magic. Because that's totally her call to make, right? Yeah, right.

And over in the teacher offices, Angela was excited about having an office, except that she was having trouble getting inside, but Angelica helped her with the door, so she could have a chance to ask whether people would have to bring their own supplies to Art Therapy, or whether they'd be provided. They'll be provided, of course, because that's how we roll here.

Over in the dorms, Britta and Frank explored the sixth floor so she could show him the ball pit, which is a legitimate room, and not a "we have a pool on the roof" kind of thing. Britta got a little worried when Frank took off his sweater vest to jump in, but he kept the rest of his clothes on - thank you - and proceeded to fanboy over Britta's criminal record. Ah, it's so nice when the juvenile delinquents find each other and bond, and really, I say that with only a drop of sarcasm.

In town, Britta took pictures of Turtle and Canary to show... the corruption of humanity? Or possibly to just pass Jaye's first assignment, I don't know. Samus was at Stark Industries, trying to get the technology there up to date, and when Victor stopped in to take a look at the place, he asked if they were hiring and ended up with a job. Well done, Victor! And over at Caritas, Kitty and Tino were on gremlin watch. Ouch, that's always a fun way to spend the evening.

Well, those are all the notes I got from the squirrels, so that's my cue to get out of here and hit the Perk again. This is Chloe Sullivan wishing you all a good back-to-classes week!
