Pirate Radio [Tuesday, May 10, 2011]

Good morning, cherubs--and Vikings, if anyone has introduced ye to a radio--it is I, the one and only Captain Jack Sparrow coming over the radio waves and through your school's broadcast system to tell you all of the news of yesterday because I'm magical like that--

Ow! Stopping throwing things at me. I'm trying to build a mystique, squirrels.

Our first stop is in classes, where we have all new courses and I don't have to read about sexual education every week now and that will make me quite sad. We begin with Hero Management, where Miss Granger talks about the importance of backing up the idiots who charge headlong into danger. I never charge headlong into danger. That can get a man killed. I sidle up beside danger, then pick his purse. Students listened, with Jack Carter--nice name, I approve of more Jacks on the island--being first confused by wizards, then by the idea of people being from different times. Oh, Jack, Jack, Jack. I'd recommend rum but apparently that's not for children. Surreal--that's a name?--was confused by magic as well, especially when things can be done more efficiently with Craft. I'll nod sagely here and pretend to have the slightest idea what's going on. Then, since it's the first day of workshops, there were introductions. Mr. Rogers had his Outdoor Activities class (up quite early) warming up and then out for a run. I run when chased and not a moment sooner. Butters--really? Butters?--learned that Blysse's big dog is really a wolf--and we all learn that Squall is crazy because he asked for more jumping jacks, which just cannot be normal. Then there were introductions, with Mercy and Tony Stark complaining that they hadn't signed up for the course, and Mercy making a date to talk with Blysse and Blind Seer later on. Billy was excited to recognize Mr. Rogers--that seems to go around here fairly frequently. Mr. Rogers must be quite a sight to see--and Tony stopped by after class to tell him about thwarting evil and his friend Ben chopping someone's hand off. That can't be healthy. In other burly news about classes I would never take, Mr. Bond taught his students in Summer Fitness and Survival how to catch a fish with a spear. Hey! I know how to do that! I am, in fact, quite manly. Who knew?

Lady Ghamina explained her class about Destiny and Free Will to her students, who listened avidly--except for Cassidy and Jocelyn who passed notes--before getting into the class discussion. Cassidy believes in free will, though Rinoa pointed out that it can have limits, as Cassidy cannot choose to not be a Queen, and Jocelyn agreed that being born to do something didn't necessarily mean that the destiny came with instructions on getting from A to B. Gabrielle said that she believed in the Fates, and Faramir countered that could be just because the Fates wanted her to, while Rinoa wanted to know if the gods pushed people into thwarting them. In the library, young William had prepared tea for our lovely new librarian named Belle. I will assume she's a beauty because it would be far too cruel to be named Belle and be forced to spend your life with a bag over your head. And in the office, the workers were conspiring against the new person who was actually working. Make them walk the plank! And the lovely Miss Porter was very excited to be working in her office.

In dorms, Nathan left naught but a note to tell us all he was leaving, which annoyed Ramona. In related news, Caroline wasted no time putting her bed with Nathan's to make a very big single bed in her now-single. Jocelyn was putting a privacy screen up in her room, and Emma was listening to music in her room before getting interrupted by Effy, who made sure Emma wasn't leaving right away, Toby, who wanted to know about the music, and a phone call from Jack Priest. Squall was confused and trying to use a phone to send email! Ahahahahaha! You cannot do that with a phone!

*chittering*

I am mistaken. Apparently you can. And Cara is never getting out of bed again. Please plan accordingly. Rilla had tea and cupcakes in the fifth floor common room and certain ungrateful rodents didn't think to snag me either. Dave learned about the sixth floor ballpit and showed Ariel his Fandom bingo card and told Rilla about his horrible caffeine addiction. Ariel wheedled a cupcake out of Rilla before they start gossiping horribly about their new siblings. I don't gossip. I'm a news...something. Totally different. Freddie got confused when Rilla introduced herself as Miss Blythe. She's from the past, Freddie. Freddie also learns that Richie, his new roommate, is Ariel's little sibling. That's terribly convenient!

And now to town, which is where I live and thus the best and most interesting portion of every broadcast. Momoko is back from visiting Triela and was making files at the law office. Ariel met Seifer at Groovy Tunes when she helped him to discover bands from Seattle and learned that he already knows Rinoa and Squall. Rude and Reno catch up over coffee at the Perk: in case anyone was worried, no new students were injured when Reno drove the bus from the airport. New people who might disagree, come and find me! There will be a shiny...well, not coin, but something shiny in it for you. Do ye like buttons? Alex Russo was playing with the new shipments to the magic store, and Lacey was writing apology notes to other Canadians due to their recent election results. How many times did ye vote, Lacey? She had to interrupt Sam Puckett's...liaisons...with the specials board and got Stan a nice, normal burger.

Dani's horse got spooked by some Vikings, and Rikku opened up Fixer-Uppers instead of Ender and his weird groupie. Rikku also had visitors, though time will tell if they turn out to be weird. Butters wanted to know if Rikku could fix what was wrong with him, but sadly, he is not a robot and so, no, no she couldn't. He might have a job, though! And then Hermione stopped in and she and Rikku caught up on several years of gossip, since they used to go to school together here.

Finally, at Caritas, the inferior bar, Jake had butterflies, while I, working at the Devil's Nest had Vikings and autotuned polka, which, squirrel notes to the contrary, was extremely catchy.

And that's all we have for notes. Remember, children, if you have news for me, I work at the Devil's Nest on Mondays. There'll be a shiny button in it for you!

...Probably. It depends if I like the button too much t' part with it, of course.
