Fandom Radio, October 11

Hi, Fandom! Is this thing on?

*chittering*

Yes, I know the little light is on, thank you, it was a joke, I --

*mocking squirrel noises and a chorus of squirrelly raspberries*

Okay, enough, the weather forecast did not call for showers! Ew. Um, gosh, is anyone even out there? Can you guys hear me out in Vail? Well, look, I have a stack of notes here and a small furry crowd looking at me with beady, expectant little eyes, so I'm just going to read these, okay?

Dorms

Oooh, there's people here! Jaime and Momoko, anyway, watching a giant-robot movie, eating popcorn, and worrying about midterms.

Town

. . . aaaaand moving on. I had the diner open, Jane was looking thoughtful at Strokes of Genius, Ashley was reading magazines at Atlas Gym, and Sherlock was at the Perk with John's laptop, which he apparently did not borrow with permission since John came in to argue with him about his appropriation of it . . . before they decided to go on a trip to London.

And Ino was at the clinic, working on homework and getting a visit from Zack, who was there to be adorable with her, not get patched up. Thankfully.

Fall Break

Now we move on to where the squirrels just have to rub it in about all of you who are out having fun in the . . . snow. That doesn't rhyme, but I'm sure it's still fun, right?

. . . right?

*whimper*

Let's see what you were all up to today at the resort. In those unbelievably cushy rooms. Hmm. Raven's attempt to hide out in her room just got her a very awkward visit from Jono, since they'd made hiking plans, but first there had to be apologies for last night since Raven didn't know she was drinking. Karla stopped by to find out all about it, too, and how people sometimes say things they shouldn't when they've been drinking, and Kennedy got to hear the story too before asking Raven for a favor. Emma didn't get much of a chance to sleep in with Karla being awake and energetic, so she made the most of it by making plans with Karla for skiing, shopping, and possible lingerie-buying. Kennedy stopped by there, too, to recruit Karla for something important. And there was a penguin -- who turns out to be Bobby Drake, coming by to share breakfast with Karla and Emma, and hug them. Awwww. Scully was writing and making plans to hit the spa with Zatanna, then talking to Rosalind about working days versus working nights, what they think of Vail, and Parents' Weekend. Rosalind was working in her room, too, as Bruce found out when he got back from the gym. Working? You guys! Vacation?

Hinata and Squall were checking out the view from their rooms, which is more like it. Bod and Kate woke up in separate beds, but didn't stay that way before they got snuggly and . . . okay, that's a perfectly valid vacation activity too. Yes.

Speaking of activities, you all had a lot of stuff you could do outside the hotel. Like eating. Or mocking each other over food at Centre V like Percy and Luke did. Lindsay kept her focus on the eating part, though. Over at Tavern on the Square, Alex Karev got Rosalind to talk to him about the trip instead of lecturing him about talking while eating. Presumably, they were eating while having this conversation.

. . . could one of you vacationers bring me back a couple of menus from the places out there? No reason.

It was busy in the spa and fitness center, you overachieving lot of physically active types. Yes, Bruce and the treadmills, I'm looking at you. And you, Jaina and Tahiri thinking the gym equipment isn't challenging enough and talking about those insanely hard ski trails instead. I hope you didn't let her dare you into it, Jaina. Quinn and a glitter-covered Maladicta discussed manicures and getting all dressed up to go out somewhere, Rikku dragged Reno to the spa for a couples' massage, and Rory took advantage of the massages, too.

I am not jealous, I am not . . .

Jonas and Tara, meanwhile, hung out by the lobby fireplace discussing the endless wealth of possible activities I'm not jealous really at the resort and wondering how the school pays for it all.

Out on the slopes, Quinn and Blackagar talked about kids being sticky little creatures and the wedge-shape ski braking technique and I'm not sure if I want to know if those are connected. Bond had Kurt trying to race him down the mountain, and Medusalith made plans for a snowball fight with Blackagar after teasing him about taking skiing lessons with kids, like Squall -- who was hand-gesturing with Blackagar about the whole thing. Kennedy was showing off her brand new snowboarding gear and telling Jason that all Fandom trips are basically this awesome.

*sigh*

Gravity is no one's friend on the ski slopes. Not Leda's, not Scully's, not Squall's with Ellie there to witness it (or Puck when Squall got all turned around on the beginner's slope), not Sookie's even if her ski lesson helped. Really. It happens to everyone, even if this advice comes too late to reassure Wesley and Katniss that it wasn't that hard. Bruce took on the intermediate slopes, and Kurt, on the other hand, really had the hang of this snowboarding thing, since one of the traveling squirrels describes him as a maniac, mani --

*ahem*

Ski-biking was more of a draw for Percy, Cloud, Robin the frog, and Ben, but Peter, Faramir, Sara, Robin (eeeee) and Goose went for the dog-sledding expedition instead. Zatanna, Hinata, Rilla, and William-the-puppy went shopping, which is exhausting itself, if you do it right. Maladicta and her sparkly self got Faramir's attention at Bailey's Coffeehouse, and Faramir got a lesson about spas. That sounds like a fair trade. I think.

Later on this evening at the resort, Raven and Harper used the snazzy flat-screen TV in their room to watch Rumor Gal, because some things can't get put on hold for vacation, Cloud stopped off in his room for a little bit, and Kennedy was hard at work in her room on something. Vacation. Not work. Stop that, all of you. ]

At least go hang out in the lobby by the fireplace like Jaina and her hot chocolate and need to remind Bruce that he doesn't need to call her 'professor,' and Dru and the skiing brochure she was contemplating when Bruce tried to convince her to actually try it.

Tavern on the Square was busy with Cloud getting a lesson from Deadpool on schnapps and butterscotch, Rinoa and Squall met up for dinner after a hard day of skiing for him and shopping for her. Leda, Elphaba, and Chuck spent some time in there, too. Not that there weren't other dining options, though, like the pizza that Bod was trying to have when Puck tried to offer him unsolicited advice on women. Faramir hit the spa, and Emma went clubbing with Peter, Effy, and Sookie, while Kitty was out giving her credit card a workout in town.

And that's all my notes for tonight. So good night, Fandomites, whether you're here or not, until next Monday. This is Lacey Burrows for WTFH, signing off.
