Fandom Radio, September 13

Goooooooooooood evening, Fandom! This is Lacey Burrows on WTFH and gosh, what can I say? Thank you all for voting for me again. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside that --

*chittering*

*thunk of a mic getting knocked over*

Okay, okay, everyone's a critic, sheesh. Fine, I'll get on with it.

School

So, getting on with it. Never let it be said I can't take a hint. Food Appreciation got a special delivery of pizza today, and a lecture about the proper way to eat it -- there are many valid ways to eat a pizza, even if they debated the eternal question of silverware versus hands in the matter of pizza-eating -- while they waited for the delivery to show up. Jane and Ariel praised that innovation of modern eating utensils, the spork, and John seemed to be practicing some form of pizza origami. Pizzagami?

*scornful chittering*

No? Okay then. Macro-Tactics got to, per Kerrigan's instructions, pair up and pick a door to go through into a random environment where they had to strategically place their armies, then review the results. Emma and Karla managed to work some note-passing in there, and the TAs and Kerrigan were around for any questions. Max taught the Personal Weaponry students about stabbing implements today, a lecture which I'm sure was quite the attention-grabber for students at this school. No, stabbing practice was not an exercise they attempted on each other. Or on Max. Because none of you is Damian Wayne, thankfully. Around the World In Fifteen Weeks delved into Australian culture via the magic of the movies, with Bond and Kyle available for questions.

Gabrielle was in the library, not having a whole lot of success with a puzzle game -- oh, those little rolly-ball things. Those are such a hassle, but you want handheld frustration? Try a virtual pet. Ohhhh, yeah. That'll give you fits.

Now, what were the teachers up to? Jaina had a hangover, but it was Sherlock who got the coffee delivery from Watson, not to mention a visit from William. Vice Principal Deadpool was dancing to some scary commercial in his office, hopefully not anywhere close enough to aggravate Jaina's headache, but Jan and Cable got an eyeful of the, er, spectacle. I don't think Professor Farnsworth's announcement that Bea Arthur is dead went over too well with the vice principal, though. No word on how Farnsworth's work on Toaster Hot Pockets was progressing, but we have no reports of explosions from the teachers' office wing, so . . .

Let's hope this is entirely unrelated to the office being staffed by blocks of cheese today.

Dorms

Luke was moving his things across the dorms into a new room, next door to Percy, who was surprised in a less than pleasant way when he found out Luke was moving in with Nico. Since they bonded over video games, is it safe to predict that living arrangement won't be too contentious?

Now, kids, this next one? Don't consider this news report an endorsement, but Bod was drinking in his room just to try it out, while Jacob chose to abstain and just watch instead, for the amusement of the aftermath. Kate thought this was a surprising turn of events, but was on board with Jacob about the entertainment value there.

In the fifth floor common room, it was time for the Rumor Gal season premiere, which Raven seems to think is practically a ritual of some kind. Even if her conversation with Zatanna was a little frosty, she explained the show to her. Sookie guessed right away what Raven was there for, and got to hear all about how Raven's discovered spoiler boards. And hopefully spoiler etiquette, too. Ariel learned all about the premise of the show and the concept of cliffhanger season finales from Raven, who was fangirling over the show with Ellie and giving Will a crash course on the show and on TV in general. Harper got a little excited about the costuming on the show, and Jono was also the, er, beneficiary of a three-season crash course, Raven style.

Momoko was in her room looking a little banged up tonight, and Zack and Ino retreated to the dorms after Zack's birthday party, which I'll get to in a bit, for a little more private present-giving. I'm sure that's not a euphemism.

. . . right?

Town

It's Monday. At Stark Industries. You know what this means -- Ben's visiting Ender, with the topic of today's conversation being Ben's trip to Karla's world, and politics in Ender's world, and you boys really don't do small talk, do you? Sophie checked in on Medusalith on her first day of work at Fourth Dimension, and it was Quinn's first day at the Arms, where she was working on her student council campaign. Yay for you multitasking kids! Makita was at Pixie Dust sorting out the new fall arrivals, and Angua was at the trooper station trying to avoid getting buried in paperwork . . . which she told me about, when she dropped by Luke's Diner. Where we have a bold new initiative in going green! Really. That's exactly what it is. And speaking of green? Go Riders! Rilla got to try Italian food for the first time today, and I'm pleased to be the one who provided that culinary experience. Angua -- thank you very much, Sergeant -- gave me a great idea for what to do with the vegetable planters that just showed up on my walls today. It'll be great, you guys!

Karla's attempts to avoid getting a lecture at Dite's Decadent Delights weren't exactly successful; she got a lecture from her boss about her trip home (which she mentioned to Cloud when he came to check up on her), but got let off the hook eventually. Dani Davis was at the Gig not moving the hay bales, because unlike in Farmville, you can't click and drag in real life. I know. Sometimes I wish I could run the diner like Cafe World. Shunsui was asleep in the park -- oooh, hopefully the ducks didn't try to snack on him. Jane had redecorating plans to keep her occupied at Strokes of Genius, but redecorating plans at the Imperial Brim didn't seem to be going so smoothly, given the store was closed due to a, er, paint malfunction.

Outside the school gates, James and Momoko found a -- jackalope? What's a -- I'm not asking -- that belongs to Leda. It led them to a warehouse in town where there was a, um, confrontation, but James and Momoko got out with Leda, who's back to her age again, apparently. James got dropped off at the clinic, where Ino was having a fidgety sort of shift.

. . . in the realm of 'don't try this at home, kids,' Kukaku was outside her house working with gas explosives while smoking. Boy, where's Smokey the Bear when you need him? Except, wait, that's forest fires. Oh, he can adapt. Jake seems to be adapting to his job at Caritas fairly well, or at least he's adapting to dealing with Tino.

Speaking of dealing. Wow, look at this last stack of notes, and let me preface this by saying HAPPY BIRTHDAY, ZACK!

A giant hamster ball, Twister, three different kinds of cake, and a beach setup? Wow, did Ino really go all out for your birthday party, Zack. What would a party be without mingling, of course? And it was a job well done, Karla and Ino, so congratulate yourselves all you want. Alexander told Karla how pleased he was to be at the party, and Ariel chatted a bit with Ino about their home worlds. Bobby gave Ino his party stamp of approval and talked about wanting to take the hamster ball downhill,
got pounced on by Ariel, and had a talk with Bruce about any possible recent unexplained penguin incidents. Elphaba did what everyone does when they see the ocean for the first time: get mesmerized by it. And talk to Tara about how there's nothing like it in Oz. Well, that part might not be something everyone does. Karla said she felt the same way when she first got to Fandom, and offered Elphaba flying lessons, Ino and Elphaba discussed getting accustomed to Earth terminology, and Alexander joined Elphaba in appreciating the view. Tara was not going to get into the giant hamster ball, as she informed Ino; her story about turning into an animal spontaneously seems to have taken Alexander by surprise. Ino introducing herself to Alexander, though, might not have been as much of a surprise. Kennedy and Tara talked about this party and plans for Tara's birthday and kids, when you get flirty on the beach, the waves will get you eventually, you know. Especially if you're playing in them. Ino wanted to know why Kennedy wasn't actually swimming, and might possibly have implied that pushing her in was a possibility, which Alexander didn't do when he talked to Kennedy. Tahiri got to hear from Ben, personally, that he made it through another trip without losing any limbs, assured Ino she was having fun, and met a very enthusiastic Ariel.

Ben and Ino theorized about what Ben's grandfather would be like at a birthday party, and the answer to Alexander's question about whether Ben was enjoying the party was an emphatic yes due to lots of food. Bruce complimented Ino on her party-throwing abilities -- which include being a gracious hostess, as for example checking to see how Asuna was enjoying herself. Ariel and Karla were definitely enjoying the food and drinks, and there were plenty of games to enjoy, too: volleyball, mega-Twister, which Karla was all over, the now infamous human hamster ball that Zack, Karla, and Ino took for a spin, and of course, swimming, which Ariel at least enjoyed.

The birthday boy Zack sure got a pleasant surprise, with well wishes from Ino (who got squeed at about the party planning), Karla (who promised she'd kick his butt at beach volleyball), Bobby (who theorized with Zack that party-planning is girls' secret superpower. And don't you forget it, boys), Tara (who talked to him about how now he has to make sure Ino's birthday lives up to this one), Alexander (who isn't used to food being this readily available at home), Kennedy (who worried Zack would be hung over from sugar at reserves tomorrow), Ben (who wondered if the three birthday cakes made the party three times as awesome), and Asuna (who also had to comment on the three cakes). And there were, of course, presents.

Elsewhere in town tonight, Robin (eeeeeeeeeeeee) ran into Wesley in the park, and there was some confusion before she figured out he's not actually Sandy Rivers, he just happens to look like Sandy Rivers.

That happens around here sometimes, Wesley. Hopefully you've figured that out by now.

And boy, you guys didn't waste time giving me stuff to report on, did you? As we reach the bottom of the last stack of notes, it's time for me to say good night for now. Until next Monday, Fandom, good night!
