Fandom Radio, Friday, August 6
Zoe: Good evening, Fandom. There'd better be some of you still out there listening to this, or I am not going to be pleased. If you're outside right now, you'd better get the hell inside, because things are getting worse out there.
Grace: Mommy! Bad word!
Zoe: Someday, I'm going to have the time to teach you all about situational swearing, I promise.
School Notes
Zoe: The Five Senses, Pottery Making, First Aid, and Cons and Confidence were all cancelled today, due to the current situation. The Hooking Up class still met, since not even disappearing students can stop Dean from taking time to talk about sex toys, but the students who went to class got out shortly after that.
Anakin and I met in my office and discussed what's been happening, and how we want to deal with it, and Blackagar was managing the library today, and all of the wonderful people who went there to try to figure out what the he--heck is going on. Medusa stopped by to talk to him about research matters, and there was a small group of researchers searching for answers about what's been happening.
In the afternoon, what's left of the reserves met up to coordinate their efforts and figure out where to go from here. After indulging in cookies, the reserve folks shared what they already knew, and tried to come up with ideas to keep the people who are left safe. The fighters made plans to find supplies, act as escorts, go patrolling, or run recon. If I have any say in the matter, I greatly prefer the first two ideas.
The Support reserve folks, meanwhile, volunteered to do medical prep and first aid, find and care for pets that have been accidentally left behind, and prepare and store food. I am fine with any of those ideas, strangely enough. The students also made lists of who's gone missing, which seems like a depressing task, but I suppose someone has to do it.
Raven and Karla checked up on each other, and Dru suggested to Karla that checking the books in the Magic Box might be a good idea. Rosalind and Zack checked in on each other, to each see how the other was holding up. Kennedy comforted Tara and also handed out cell phones to anyone who didn't have a means of communication here, and Jak hung around to see if anyone needed help.
Dorm/Cabin Notes
Kyle left a note at the Gobstopper cabin telling his cabinmates to come and hole up with him at Efferton Manor, before taking all of his friends-who-are-action-figures-or-animals with him into town. Kate and Ariel found a note from Kyle as well, and decided to go to the manor to join him. As much as I don't like the idea of you all going through town, grouping up for safety is not a bad idea at all. Just take care of yourselves if you're going to head over there.
Karla was taking care of Hinata's cat while calling the reserve leaders. And to add to our disappearance list, Puck disappeared from his cabin, Rilla disappeared from her cabin, and Chuck disappeared while on the way to the school.
Grace: Bye bye, Chuck?
Zoe: Oh honey, no.
Town News
Still continuing with the disappearances: Biff and everyone in his house are gone, along with the house, Dani and her home, Firekeeper and Blind Seer, and Harper.
...all right squirrels, I think I'll take some of that rum now.
Kerrigan fought some of the creatures that have been showing up in town, as did Dinah and Jaime and Anakin and Cara, once they'd finished talking about how impressively showy Anakin's lightsaber is.
Rick was making phone calls at Efferton Manor when Kyle and his arsenal of action figures and animals showed up. Rick agreed to let any students who wanted to stay there - thank you for that, really - and together, they got set up for the other visitors, like Kate and Ariel.
Sophie was staying in her apartment above the gallery - and above everything on the ground outside. Jenny opened Pixie Dust--okay, I didn't think it would need to be said, but if you have a job? I don't think anyone will mind if you don't go until all of this blows over. Honestly, just stay in your cabins/dorm rooms/whatever and stay out of town.
Delirium opened Groovy Tunes, hopefully for the last time for a bit, and Arya opened Coyote Medicine. I know I can't order the folks who live in town around, but my suggestion about staying put goes for all of you too.
Mary was keeping The Arms Hotel creature-free, and Dru, Scully, and Karla went to the Magic Box to look through the books, and ran into scorpion-looking things instead. Since the only note from the clinic is that Hawkeye decided to stay there for the duration of this madness, I'm going to assume you're all okay and that you know better than to go wandering into town now. Hopefully.
It looks like that's almost everything except...all right, why do I have a note about people going down below the island? If any of you went on this little trip, come and find me tomorrow, because you'd better not have done something that stupid without a good reason. As for the rest of you, have a good night, and for the love of whatever higher power you believe in, stay safe.
