Fandom Radio, Friday, June 11
Good evening, Fandom. Dean's doing some serious big brother duty helping Zoe with Grace tonight, so you've all got me on my own. Let's see what everyone was up to today, besides being reminded that sometimes we don't do laundry enough.
Workshop News
The Great Outdoors class was all about plants today. After everyone listened to Constable Fraser's lesson, they went out to the preserve to find and identify local flora. And hopefully leave it there so the local fauna has enough to eat.
The topic of the day in the Dating, Hooking Up, and Sex workshop was sex toys. Thankfully, we didn't have to meet up at the sex shop, or some people might have passed out. Dean gave everyone some ideas about what constitutes a sex toy, and then everyone brainstormed to decide what kind of toy they want to do a presentation about next week. If it turns out that Chuck and I have to do that too, I'm staging a revolt. Consider that fair warning.
The Ocker 101 class took a portaled field trip to Walkabout Creek, which is apparently an actual place in actual Australia. The students had a chance to get used to their dry, dusty surroundings before being brought to a pub for food and drinks on Mr. Dundee. The students also had a chance to chat with the locals, if they were feeling brave, or knock beer off of the head of someone named Duncan. That sounds partly like fun, and partly like a waste of beer.
In First Aid class today, Mr. Pierce wanted to know what the students are hoping to learn during his workshop. He talked to them about working in a normal clinic setting vs. working in the MASH unit, and then answered questions from the students about what they want to learn in the next few weeks.
And over at the teacher offices, Faith was dealing with sore hands, and Zoe was trying to make up for being late due to an attack of clothing. Some of that stuff was vicious today. It was not a good day to be a tall person with big clothes, let me tell you.
Cabin News
Over in the Harpy cabin, Sookie was packing to head out for the weekend again, but before she left, she gave Bobby a little more of the story of what happened the last time she went home.
In the Monkeypony cabin, Hiccup had to try to keep Toothless from setting his laundry on fire when it attacked him. Ah, just what this place needs, more pyromaniacs. Peter was surprised to see the dragon, and he and Hiccup talked about how often weird things happen around here while they fought more laundry. I think "all the freaking time" might be a good measurement, but that could just be my experience. Beka came to help too, and Hiccup had to be quick to explain that it was the laundry that attacked him, and not Toothless.
At the Zombie cabin, Bod got attacked by a shirt while Kate was there to tell him that she's going home for a little while. Bod told her to have fun where there would be no laundry attacks - assuming, of course, that the weirdness won't follow Kate home.
Jaina managed to get her laundry into a bag to wash it at the Snow Monster cabin, and at the Gremlin cabin, Tim Drake Googled something for Dean's class and apparently screamed so loud that Karla felt the need to check up on him to make sure he was all right. Well done, Dean. The scarring has officially started.
Finally, Peter and Claudia met up back at the dorms, in the first floor rec room. Peter was playing classical music to keep everyone else away, because he apparently hasn't met the contingent of students who come from when classical music was being invented, and he and Claudia talked about Hiccup's dragon and the dirty clothing situation. Hopefully, it'll be like most things and be all over tomorrow. I don't want to wake up being strangled by my socks again.
Town News
Chloe checked through the new inventory and tidied up at Android's Dungeon, Arya did an inventory check at Coyote Medicine, and Captain Price was brooding at Wellspring Arms. Hopefully not over anything serious.
Mary found Gunther shirtless and fighting with his uniform at The Arms Hotel. I don't know if the island was trying to traumatize anyone today, but I think it happened anyway. Things Reborn was full of soapy water tubs, even though Harper didn't have any laundry with her. Jack Sparrow probably could have used them, since he was getting chased by a ton of clothes, but he was at the beach, so I'm going to assume he didn't cross the path of the shops.
Dimitri had to deal with a week's worth of dirty, sweaty towels attacking Jessi at Atlas Gym, which sounds even worse than regular laundry. Hope had to listen to Apu complain about his dirty work clothes at Turtle and Canary, and Sean ended up locking his dirty laundry in a tackle box at Nast Sporting Goods. I guess whatever keeps it from attacking is a good idea.
And finally, Mina spent the day playing solitaire at the clinic, and Damon had to figure out how to deal with the air conditioning going out at Caritas and making the zombies smell. So, you should probably get your booze elsewhere for the next day or so. Just a suggestion.
That's all the news for today, folks. Have a good evening, and try to lock up your clothes tonight. You know, just in case.
