Fandom Radio, June 3
Evening, Fandom! Lacey Burrows with you here on WTFH, now on what looks like my regular night for the summer. It's been a while since I did Thursdays . . . wow, memories. Of course, back then I had a cohost, but -- oh, gosh. Anyway. You know, this intro banter thing is a lot shorter without her griping at me to shut up and get to it?
Classes
But here I am, getting to it. Laser Tag Adventures didn't get out of lecture time, but then it was off to the Danger Shop for a fun-filled trip to the Natural History Museum of London to do battle with the mummies overrunning the place. Boy, I know a couple of people who'd be in absolute heaven if they got dumped in a place like that . . . until they got their brains eaten. And knowing them that wouldn't take long. Rick and his TA Alex Russo did not, we presume, get their brains eaten. My radio boss, Captain Jack Sparrow, had his Being Marooned class figure out various ways to make fire, except for Delirium, who worked on her tan instead. In case you were concerned about students getting immolated, Jack was on hand to keep an eye out for that.
. . . that was supposed to be reassuring, in theory. Logical Fallacies got a lecture on the slippery-slope argument, and put it into practice discussing topics like lowering the drinking age. In places other than Fandom, probably, huh? Hinata and Cindy were present in their respective TA and teacher roles. Anatomy of a Trial's lesson for the day was calling witnesses, complete with discussion of who to call and what they planned to establish with the testimony, then actual examination of the witnesses. Karla went over her notes, and Alex Cabot was around. She is the teacher, after all. Self-Defense got to watch Faith beat up on some huge guy for the Brazilian jiu-jitsu demonstration, then warm up and pair off to try it for themselves. Faith and the TAs, Kennedy and Leda, were around and presumably not beating up on anyone. We hope.
Mitchell was in his office going over lesson plans with the TV going in the background, and Jack Priest dropped in to promise to be surprised about a present he's supposed to get, talk about the squirrels a bit -- aw, take a bow, you guys, you do have a lot of hard work to do and it's nice to be acknowledged, yes, I know they can't actually see you -- and discuss whether he's being worked too hard as the TA. Loki used his office hours to throw darts at a dartboard. *chittering* No, of course he can't possibly have had my picture on it, come on, he doesn't even know me? Stop looking at me with those beady little rodent eyes -- ow! *rapidfire thunking of flung acorns* Anakin's fretting over family wedding plans was interrupted by Ino coming by to ask about dealing with fear, and Raven . . . what do you mean, fangirling? Principal Winchester had Kerrigan stop by to ask about what happened to former Dean of Students Jones, and Drake used his office hours to look up recipes. Drake, let me know what kind of recipes you're looking for; I might have a few that would interest you!
Dorms
. . . how fitting that today's gremlin bite took place in Gremlin cabin. It was Cara who got chomped, and headed out to the main campfire dressed all in pink like a pretty, pretty princess. Who rhymes. Peter Bishop's plans to be diplomatic with her to keep from getting eviscerated weren't too necessary, since she was poetic and not threatening at all to him, or to James, or to Robin who did get rhymed at about being a frog. Ariel, on the other hand, got Cara to sing, and danced along.
Ben and Ino met up at the flight shed for a flying lesson as Rookiehood homework; Sookie had Bobby drop by to say goodbye before she heads home for a few days; Alex Karev was out by the main campfire tonight with a cigarette but no fire, which is the less uncomfortable but more health-detrimental option; James was out at the Gremlin campfire tonight making dinner over the fire. You know, I know this really great s'more brownies recipe that --
*chittering* Okay, okay. Fine.
Town
Work on the new Community Center continued today under Constable Fraser's very capable supervision. Hoshi's day at the Arms Hotel had the unfortunate highlight of Gunther scaring her dog, Lindsay was playing with her new phone at Nast Sporting Goods, Millie was enjoying her own merchandise, by which I mean reading, at Book Haven, Helen was riding the horses at the Gig, Jack Priest was reading at Cabot and Associates until Alex came by to bring him coffee and discuss caffeinated beverages -- always a good subject -- and Tara was working on her telekinesis at the Magic Box until Kennedy came by with cupcakes and flirtation and . . . *ahem*
Max ran his combat training for townsfolk, and today they covered how to fall. There's techniques for that? Really? Tim Desmond joined the class and got welcomed by Max, who discussed magically-assisted falling with Millie, and fighting in heels (and how they make your legs look great) with Mary. And practicing falling, of course. Can't forget that.
Who knew Jacob diving off Galactica Point to go swimming was going to attract so many people? Mostly girls, like Layla who agreed to join in but demanded a no-ogling rule, Gabrielle who decided bathing suits were optional, Elena who flirted with him about . . . let's just say it involves possibly-productive violent behavior. Jono was not a girl, and he wasn't swimming either, since he has issues with it, but he was jealous of Jacob having fun with it.
On the beach this evening, Leda threw a birthday party for Robin the frog, where Karla helped herself to a lot of food and had Leda tell her they should've gotten a karaoke machine. There was the required yelling of 'surprise' to the birthday, er, frog, and presents.
Piper was in town and at the Perk to visit Paige, but got a bonus visit from Cally and Nicky. At Caritas -- aw, I can't report on Robin's work shifts any more! -- Chuck had mail, and Dean coming in for whiskey to deal with Sam leaving in a few weeks.
Speaking of leaving, I'm going to do that now, since I'm out of notes and this one squirrel is staring at me in a creepy sort of way. This is Lacey Burrows, signing off. Have a good night, Fandom!
