Fandom Radio, Monday, February 8

Sam: Good evening, Fandom, from your much less itchy Monday night hosts.

Andy: You smelled better last week though.

Sam: You make it sound like I didn't shower this morning or something.

Andy: Well you didn't shower in hot fudge at least.

Sam: I think I'd be pretty happy to not smell fudge at all for a good few weeks.

Andy: You do know it's Valentine's Day this week, right?

Sam: ...okay, I'd be pretty happy to not smell fudge after this week is over. I can make it through the holiday, I think.

Andy: I'll be happy to take care of your share.

Sam: Yeah, because chocolate is definitely what you need on top of your naturally hyper state.

Andy: Well it can't really make me any more hyper...

Sam: I'm going to remember you said that when you're bouncing off the walls.

Andy: Are the walls going to be rubber? Because that would make me bounce higher!

Sam: You really are one of a kind, you know that?

School

Sam: The Outdoor Fitness class got to go swimming today, once everyone changed into appropriate swimwear and got into groups based on personal ability. Rose apologized to Mr. Bond for missing class due to being a bobcat, and Kurt tried to get out of swimming due to a skin condition.

Build Your Own Philosophy talked about The Little Prince today, instead of The Prince due to a mixup from the library. Um, oops? Raven and Dinah talked about who really attacked Raven, and then the class got into a discussion about whether or not things that are unseen are more valuable than things that are seen.

The World Mythology class learned about the Japanese sun goddess Amaterasu, and discussed sun myths from other cultures. Leda stopped to talk to Lady Ghanima at the end of class, to apologize for missing class due to being a cat. I guess the island likes cats right now.

Andy: What's not to like? They're furry and purr and snuggly and catch mice.

Sam: And make people sneeze and don't always listen when you call them. Sorry, I'm a dog person. The Horror 101 class learned about witch trials and the Spanish Inquisition, so I'm guessing the topic was "When Real Life is Like a Horror Film, Only Worse." Everyone had a chance to talk about persecution they've experienced and after class, Chloe checked on Mr. Mitchell to make sure he was okay after last week, Kate teased Mr. Mitchell about attacking the blackboard, Jack Priest suggested a class on flowers and kittes next time to balance today's class out, and Leda apologized for missing class due to catness.

The Japanese Etiquette and Tradition students learned how Valentine's Day is celebrated in Japan by attending a festival in the Danger Shop. A very tired Gabrielle opened the library, and Mr. DeTamble might have been equally tired since he was filling book orders incorrectly.

Ms. Pitt had snacks aimed towards the Super Bowl and Valentine's Day in study hall, where Lion-o went to do some extra reading. And Cindy was working on notes for class during her office hours, and got a visit from Mr. DeTamble, who wanted to see what her office looks like.

Dorms

Andy: Over in the dorms, George was in the lobby all day is selling flowers and candy for the Student Council and tickets to the dance. Huh, guess I might need to make plans to stop in the lobby tomorrow...

Sam: Oh? Does that mean you're going to the dance? Possibly with a certain girl?

Andy: Well, I haven't actually asked, but...

Sam: You should probably do it in person, and not via the radio. And you should definitely ask.

Andy: That is pretty much the plan, yeah. Rose got back to her room after training and started texting home. And way early in the morning, Ender took off for home, leaving a note for Ben, who after finding it, discussed the situation with Karla and they decided to go after him.

Tahiri headed back to her room after class when Ben came by to tell her about all of the thing with Ender, and to get reassurance that Ender hadn't been kidnapped or anything. That kinda sucks that that is the first thing people worry about.

Sam: If he didn't turn into an animal...yeah, it's the first worry for a lot of people.

Andy: Like I said, sucks. Hurley brought hot cocoa, which Tahiri is stockpiling, and Jaina came to see how she's doing.

Karla was packing to leave when George came by. There was flirting and she told him she had to go after Ender and he hoped she was back in time for him to take her to the dance. Aw, that's sweet.

Arthur was working out with a staff in the salle this morning. Merlin was sleeping on a bench and Arthur recommended not to take naps close to the lethal weaponry, then attempted to get Merlin to spar with him. I'm not sure, but that might be dirty.

Dinah was there and cranky, which prompted Arthur to ask her if she was in trouble, which she denied.

Up on the fourth floor this evening, Edmund was making grilled cheese sandwiches and watching a badly dubbed Japanese show. Dude, those are the best kind!

Sam: I think I'm going to have to take your word on that one.

Andy: We'll have to watch some one day. Their game shows are completely freaky. Merlin advised Edmund that he should make up a holiday that he's celebrating by the large quantities of grilled cheese and Edmund decided on the Day of the Walrus. That sounds like a totally cool holiday.

He invited Claire to have some grilled cheese sandwiches for the Day of the Walrus, which made Claire ask why walruses want cheese sandwiches. Maybe the walruses were stoned and had the munchies.

Sam: A problem with which you're very familiar, I'm sure.

Andy: Well I've never been a walrus... Menolly introduced herself and her firelizard to Edmund and explained to Merlin that her firelizard is a firelizard and not a dragon. And I kinda like saying firelizard. Firelizard. Firelizzzzzard. It's fun.

Alice wondered if Edmund was expecting a crowd and Sookie asked if Edmund was feeding an army. I think the answer would be yes -- an army of walruses.

Down on the second floor, Tony had pizza, soda and Darkest Night. Blysse told Tony she'd been looking forward to this episode, and Dinah was squeeing about half-naked guys.

Tony introduced Puck to Darkest Night and explained he was dating one of the actors, and Dinah asked how Lee was. Apparently she was hoping he was half naked.

Dinah offers pizza to Puck, who asked Blysse about her very big dog. Blysse told him the dog was actually a wolf. So a firelizard gets mistaken for a dragon and a wolf gets mistaken for a dog. Sounds like maybe we need a exotic zoology course.

Sam: Considering how many weird animals people turn into sometimes? That's not a bad idea at all.

Town

Sam: Dimitri was baking bread in his apartment when he got a visit from Rose, who wanted to know why he hadn't been at their training. Instead, they had bread and talked about their childhoods and I guess it was a good conversation because the glitter flags are flying over here.

Angua was getting acquaintanced with paperwork at the Trooper Station, and met Mr. Gibbs, who gave her a little insight on the island, like going on vacation for all of December. Some of the days weren't so bad. It might not even be that bad this year. Lacey had the cooks cleaning out the deep fryer at Luke's Diner, so it was probably a good thing that Angua came in looking for a vegetarian salad instead.

Liz did some organization at The Arms Hotel, Claudia was seriously absorbed in a book at Book Haven, and Claire was looking at dresses in a magazine at Android's Dungeon.

Joan sorted out some pre-Valentine's Day orders at Covent Garden Flowers, Alex worked on the section dedicated to Valentine's Day at The Magic Box, Worf took some time to meditate at Wellspring Arms and Makita was confused by all the swimwear in Pixie Dust. Clothing stores tend to run a season or two ahead here, don't ask me why. It's an inexplicable part of this world.

Sophie had an exhibit of nice, warm islands up at the Fourth Dimension gallery, Dani did just a little work at The Gig before finding a place to take a nap, Zack had his first day of his new shift at Cafe Fina, Oz had the Holiday Grove decked out for all things Valentine's Day, and Irulan was checking on orders at The Imperial Brim.

Aphrodite was deciding whether or not to add mannequins to 'Dite's Decadent Delights when Karla stopped in to check on her, which turned into Aphrodite checking on Karla instead. Raven visited too, to apologize for everything that happened last week, and Aphrodite assured her that she's not mad.

Andy: Good. Because it wasn't Raven's fault.

Sam: I know, and I'm glad she's okay now. Ashley had her first day of work at Atlas Gym today. Rose came in looking for Dimitri, and ended up meeting Ashley instead, and talking about where she calls home.

Aravis stopped by The Perk tonight for tea and chocolate. Mat came in for a drink too, and they talked about the itchy sickness some of us had last week.

*chittering*

No, it really wasn't an STD, shut up.

Andy: They can't let go of a notion once they get ahold of it.

Sam: Especially when it's a mocking notion. Millie had a blissfully quiet day at the clinic, and Adrian was as hard at work at Caritas as he ever gets, as was Dimitri, who kept Adrian company. What, no glitter flags for them too? I'm almost shocked.

Andy: Maybe they ran out of their supply.

Sam: I guess they're going to have to make more. Luckily, there's no shortage of glitter around here.

Andy: Glitter and rum.

Sam: Definitely everything a growing squirrel needs. Have you got any more notes in your pile?

Andy: Nope. You?

Sam: Nope. I guess that's it for us tonight, so have a good night, Fandom.
