Fandom Radio, Monday, October 5
Sam: Good evening Fandom, and congratulations on getting through the weekend with no bloodshed. At least, as far as I heard about.
Andy: It was a great weekend.
Sam: Really? Most people require at least a little heavy drinking when it's all over.
Andy: Did you?
Sam: No, but my family's here all the time, except for my brother, and it's a good thing when he visits.
Andy: Yeah, visits from brothers are definitely a good thing.
Sam: I didn't know you had a brother too.
Andy: Neither did I.
Sam: ...so, it was a really great weekend then?
Andy: Really, really great.
Sam: When we're done here, you and I are definitely going to talk more about this.
School News
Sam: The Applied Science class got to play with dry ice in a variety of Tyler-approved experiements, which gave Dinah and Priestly a chance to catch up with each other on how Parents Weekend went. Hubris from Revelation covered polytheism and had a discussion on different pantheons and old gods. It really is such a good class for geeks.
Andy: No argument here.
Sam: Oh, good. The Physical Films students got dressed out as usual - you guys should be grateful that you didn't have to show those uniforms to your parents - and then watched a movie about a cowboy and rode a mechanical bull. There's nothing in the notes about people breaking their necks or cracking their heads open, so I'm guessing that went okay. Care for Magical Creatures had a movie day today. Mr. Minsc was apparently out of commission, and left a movie for everyone, trusting that they'd stay and watch. Odds are, everyone probably did stick around.
Sex Ed had an educational movie day as well, so everyone could decompress a little from having their parents around. And the fencing club had their last week of practice drills with Edmund and Mr. Algren around to help.
Finally, Mr. Mitchell held office hours today, and talked to Jack Priest about Parents Weekend and ways to stay in this time period after graduation, and to Kate about how well she survived the weekend.
Dorm News
Sam: Raven and George Sands woke up in the safe room this morning, minus their clothing. I guess if you're going to try to be safe, the safe room is the place to go, if no one else needs it.
Andy: I think that might be two different kinds of safe you're talking about there.
Sam: Maybe, but they could all apply in this case. Later, Hayley had a bit of a weekend-induced breakdown - I'm really surprised there don't seem to be more notes like this today - and went to Raven for advice.
Kennedy stopped by Tara's room when she noticed that Tara was in a really good mood, and Tara explained that she found out over the weekend that she's not part demon. That's...definitely a good thing to find out about yourself. Yeah.
Andy: Yeah. I can think of a few other people who'd like to find that out.
Sam: Just a few. Call it a hunch. Arthur and Merlin hung out together, and the squirrels are suggesting dirty things but...okay, they might not be that far off, actually. And today was Savannah's birthday. Happy birthday, Savannah! Angela stopped by her room, to bring a present and talk about the weekend, and Savannah got birthday calls from Johnny, Chris, Summer, and Isabel.
Monday means Arthur and Merlin were in the salle, and after some supposedly poor innuendo, they decided that a better use of their time would be for Arthur to get a massage. Sounds like there were dirty things going on in that room after all. Well done, squirrels. Before the guys could leave though, Merlin and Arthur both got texted by Francine, Fiona wanted to practice her new diablo, and Dinah came for her weekly lesson.
And Elena was in the fifth floor common room tonight watching the Golden Oldies. Tybalt and Elena tried to decide what they'll be like when they get older, Hurley was curious about what kind of food was in the common room fridge, and Rose and Elena decided that they're not going to wait until they get old to act like awesome old women. That...sounds like a good thing, I think?
Andy: Guess it would depend on how you think awesome old women act.
Sam: Well, I do know some awesome older women, although I don't think I'd ever use the "old" word to their face. Hurley was disappointed that there was no cheesecake in the common room, but Rose was happy to take bubblegum ice cream instead. Zayne admitted to loving the show, and both Elena and Rose told him this means he's awesome. Layla brought pizza to share, for which Elena and Rose were grateful, and Elena and Layla both assured Cordelia that yes, the show is awesome, but that no, all men don't suck. I think that's the sound of someone who didn't have a good weekend.
Andy: I guess not all of us can have the awesome.
Town News
Andy: Down in town, Mirax was in a good mood at Things Reborn, Worf was glaring at people at Wellspring Arms, and Lacey and her staff were having MyZoo trauma at Luke's Diner. Joan opened up Convent Garden Flowers, Alex Russo redid the displays at the Magic Box, and Oz ran a sale on apples at the Holiday Grove, where Cordelia dropped by to interrogate him.
Ender worked at Stark Industries and was visited by Ben who brought ritual coffee to drink while discussing their weekend. Hopefully it was as good for you guys as it was for me.
Sam: I think if everyone had as good of a weekend as you did, people wouldn't freak out nearly as much the week beforehand.
Andy: Totally. See, everyone needs to be like me. Elle Woods was keeping things clean at Cabot and Associates until Hayley came by and asked Elle to take her shopping. Claire was working at Android's Dungeon; Jon O'Neil stopped by to see how Claire's mom had handled the weekend and Claire told him she owed fruitbaskets to old Jack O'Neil and Principal Winchester. Hey, if she actually sends them, you can probably get some of the fruit from your step mom's.
Sam: She must have been good with parents. I think by now, she's pretty good at figuring out what they want to hear instead of what they should probably know.
Andy: And, y'know, she's kinda hot too. I've noticed. Aphrodite was getting a massage during work hours at Dite's Decadent Delights; Fred Dukes came in and didn't take well to being served by one of Aphrodite's hot boys. Now that's not very nice, dude. You have to be more open minded than that.
Irulan had some new shipments of hats at the Imperial Brim, and Ben and Tahiri met at the Chilly Boulder for ice cream. And let me just say, they have really good ice cream.
Adrian was drinking behind the bar at Caritas, and Rose was not happy to see him when she came in for a drink.
And Millie was a bit sleepy at the clinic.
Sam: Luckily, she was somewhere where they have medicine for that sort of thing.
Andy: Y'know she'd be somewhere they have medicine for that even if she was at the Perk.
Sam: Or the ice cream place.
Andy: That too. I had the best sundae there on Saturday.
Sam: You didn't happen to have that sundae with your brother, did you?
Andy: It's where I met him.
Sam: Oh wow. Uh, I think the squirrels are done with us, so we could get out of here and you can tell me all about him?
Andy: Sure. You'd like him, I think. He's really cool.
Sam: Awesome. Then good night, Fandom!
Andy: It was a great weekend.
