WTFH, Saturday, 9/26
Good evening, Fandomites and Fandominas! I almost didn't make it tonight because I watched The Notebook and dissolved into a puddle of tears. My squirrelly friends here had to soak me up with a sponge and wring me out. Seriously. Let me quote: "I am nothing special; just a common man with common thoughts, and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect I have succeeded as gloriously as anyone who's ever lived: I've loved another with all my heart and soul; and to me, this has always been enough." Truer words were never spoken. Love, love, love, boys and girls, it's what makes the world go round. Right. I've got a job to do here. But I'm totally putting that movie on my syllabus next semester.
School
The George of the Cooper variety opened the library to find it apparently was the site of a drive-by fruiting. Don't look at me, I had nothing to do with it. MiniDrake came in looking for a book on sign language, then Yakko serenaded the library with a rocking song. Angela, who was looking for a book on costumes for cats, did not seem to appreciate the song, but it did lead to a discussion between George and Yakko about singing in the shower.
Dorms
Edmund was kind enough to share coffee and patries on the deck this morning. Jo took advantage of this and chatted with Eddie about Luke, ball pits, and monkey-ponies, and that sounds like a rocking party. My new close personal friend Merlin, who is neither an old man nor a medieval pimp, I assure you, discussed brownies, Chuck, and church with Edmund. That also sounds like it could be a party.
Up on the fifth floor tonight, Jennifer was watching music videos. She met Eleanor for the first time, who is apparently roommates with Jen's BFF Ellie, and I think we need to put Eleanor, Ellie, and all the Elles in a room to fight it out for the letter L. Speaking of Ls, Leda wandered by to show off her bright green hair, which met with Eleanor's approval. Jen approved as well.
Elsewhere! Zack got a message from home and had to hightail it out of here. Everyone will be pleased to know that Layla has girl parts again. Ben spent some quality time with a kitty, and Angela and Hannibal had quality time together as well, which apparently involved Hannibal getting his nails painted. I love a man who's secure with pink.
Town
On the town side of the island, there was a market! Among the delights to be found were Bratwurst by Doofenshmirtz, spices, textiles, and curios by Radek, and vintage teasures and bits and boobs...
*chittering*
...bobs. Bits and bobs. Sorry, one of you has really bad handwriting. Anyway! Dinah stopped by Spider's booth and haggled over the merchandise. CMOT Dibbler offered up his venerable foodstuff, which brought Doofenshmirtz over to argue about whose sausage was bigger. Better. I mean better.
That Hot Mama Aphrodite had a booth of her own, attracting Spider and Sophie. There were also booths for J, GoB and the Perk. Benches were available for the sitting, which the Mayor and his wee girl took advantage of to rest and chat with Layla about Parents Weekend and being a girl again.
Leda dropped by the clinic to apologize to Ino for missing her party, and Kyle manned the fort at Turtle & Canary and offered up bananas at 50% off. Also on the job were Robin-the-frog at Android's Dungeon, Hurley at Groovy Tunes, Irulan at the Imperial Brim, and Mary at the Arms Hotel, where newcomer Adrian stopped by to inquire about a room. She-Ra tended bar at Caritas and helped Tino with his nuts. So it's that kind of bar. Nice! That new guy Adrian gave the bar his approval and talked to She-Ra about being the latest hire at the bar, then he and Dimitri sized each other up. She-Ra took note of Zayne's special glow and talked to Sweets about just what a guidance counselor does. We had one of those in the Underworld. The answer to "What should I do with my life" was always "Be evil." Didn't go over to well with me. Moving on! Sweets and Tim caught up, and Lia met Sweets as well. Lia also met She-Ra, and they talked about jobs in town. And Vince played "confuse a bartender" with his drink orders.
The squirrels are handing me a final note. Saving the best for last, they're telling me. I can't wait to see this....Dimitri made phone calls. And is hot. Wait, that's it?
