Fandom Radio :: May 03.
Well, hey, everyone. It's Sunday, but don't worry. Turtle hasn't been turned into a boy or anything. She called me and said she wasn't feeling very well and that if I sat in for her tonight, she'd never call me Facespitter ever again. I told her she could keep the nickname; it's really endearing, a true sign of how she really loves me, and I'll do the radio anyway, because I'm such a nice guy, for just twenty bucks.
And, lo and behold, you have Cal Stephanides radio. Aren't you lucky?
SCHOOL
Nothing happened at the school. Because everyone's graduated.
DORMS
Dor has some issues with his new adopted dog, and Eve was all about random crap on TV on the fourth floor, and Hurley wants to keep all the grads here, though not in a creepy way.
In third floor boys' bathroom, lot of Kevin shows up and is all dirty with Toby before telling him how he can get home or something. I was going to say I read something like that in a really bad romance novel, but that would imply that I read really bad romance novels.
Which I don't.
Jaina kind of fails at faking busy, and John shows up to apologize and mention that he can stay for the summer. Whoo. Great for them.
Savannah also kind of failed at keeping calm, but at least she didn't burn the place down or something. It probably doesn't help things that Johnny's right after her and there's a total bitchfest about a jerky guest and their impending wedding annulment.
Turtle, meanwhile, is skipping out on radio in the second floor common room, and gets what she deserves in being attacked by Dor's new dog. Which used to be Jeff's. Who used to be her boyfriend.
TOWN
Over at Cafe Fina, the utensils and everything were giving Warren a walk down memory lane, rehashing all the wonderful times they've had together, which I'm sure just made Warren so happy. Helen finds out that it's Warren's last shift, which I guess she wasn't expecting. Surprise! Momoko was not pleased either, and demanded cake and hugs. Kurogane just encouragingly told him to take care of himself.
G'Kar was at Turtle & Canary early to make up for leaving later to go to all the stuff for graduates later.
Charlotte made everything very welcoming at the art gallery, but Blysse just wanted to avoid people at the Gig.
Ben has a very fine mustache at Things Reborn, which apparently gets him mistaken for Zero's boyfriend, Peter. Daisy expresses her concern over a continuing trend in bad fake facial hair on the town's men.
And Biff was just resting his eyes over at Wellspring...this is the same place where Ino's all 'OHMYGOD, I can't miss a SECOND of work, my boss is a TOTAL HARDASS?' Um...Sure, Ino. Anyway, John checked out the shop and Daisy wanted to exchange weekend hookup notes with Biff.
Aww, come on, guys. Some of those people are people's parents!
Sam spent the day IMing at Stark Industries, and I don't know if I should be glad or worried that I don't know what that means.
And Peter and Nathan had a touching moment on the beach. Aw. So did Simon and River.
There was some sort of toga party at the bar, where Steve and Jeff got shitfaced because the girl whose job I'm doing right now dumped Jeff.
*chittering*
Oh, I'm sorry. She didn't dump him. There was just a change in relationship status. Anyway, Amber's mom and Loretta were there to get drunk, too. I smell rebound.
Dude. You got dumped. At least be comforted by the fact that she probably feels so bad about it that she can't even show her voice in public.
Buffy and Giles are stalking out the cemetery, and she's all bored but Giles is all 'patience, young grasshopper.' And there was a big Fisher convention at Ching Tai, where...
...oh, man. Nate's having brain surgery? Shit. Claire, if you haven't gone yet, call me?
At Fight Club, Ghanima and Tyler explained the rules to guests because, apparently, 'Fight Club' wasn't self-explanatory enough. There was mingling before the fighting, though. Alanna is tackleglomped (which is apparently a word) by Bel and they catch up, and I realize I'm probably going to read a lot of names I don't know right now. Tahiri and Tyler make plans to spar next week over a conversation about how this student body is very fighty-oriented, and Katina and Parker are all bitchy and snarky and decide to spar it up. Jen tries to be nonchalant, and Tahiri thinks Bel is way too happy, so he decides she'd be useless in a fight. Connor tells Gwynn the gym needs a juice bar,and Billy says hi to him. Blysse and Blind Seer are so not digging the crowd, and Anders is glompgreeted by Zero.
Apparently, glompgreeted is a word.
And I'm also being threatened by the squirrels to mention that Anders is apparently still cuter than Marco.
Whatever. Anders assures Dinah that the alumni don't bite...haaard, before catching up with Parker on what they've been doing with their lives. Parker then talked with Leto about knowing his stepmother, and Alanna wonders if this is cheating for Parker before going in for a spar. Billy can't wait to see Parker in action, and Zero glees with her about the whole thing. She seems very gleeful. And very pink, according to Alanna. John Connor was there and Jack boggled at the crowd, while Kimberly got squeed at by Jen.
Andross is there and so is Tseng checking things out. Ghanima and Leto gave Reno some mega-props for graduating and he even got a plant out of the deal, it seems. And Zero wonders what he thinks about boas. Leto and Ghanima gave the guests a show, while a twitchy Savannah hung out by the wall. Adam smirked during his warm-up while Tori and Liir scoped for a spar. Cable hovers, not literally, while Minsc stretched out a handover. Turtle, who's too sick for radio but apparently not sick enough for fight club, and Daisy stretch, and so does Billy. Aeryn and Arya look for a fight and have A names.
On the training mats, Liir asks Ghanima for some help, and Turtle has a miraculous break in her sickness that is keeping her from the broadcast.
And then people, get this, fought. I know. Crazy, right? John Connor's there, so is Billy and Ghanima and Leto open up a Can of Weirding Whoop Ass, whatever that means. Kimberly and Jen spar and so do Parker and Katchoo. And the organizers are around, which means Tyler and Parker have misty water-colored memories together.
Giant Ass Brunch
There was a giant ass brunch today for the graduates, their friends, family, so on and so forth, where people, of course mingled. Amber and G'Kar made plans for lunch, and Triela gave her a present so she could always be reached. Amber then told Robin for her plans to go to the University of Minnesota....YES, seriously, Amber! Good!
And Angela was surprised that Robin surfs. Angela showed off her baby to Parker...err, different Angela. Obviously. Unless Montenegro's got a secret love child somewhere. Do you, Montenegro? HM? Anyway,
Angela with the baby and Marty mused on how nothing attacked this graduation and how everyone they know has already graduated, and Alanna got to play with the baby. Zero offered to pierce the baby's ears. River told Parker about fighting on a different planet, while Bridge bounced a lot in River's general direction. Billy told River about how no one's tried to kill him yet, while Robin welcomed her back.
Reno offered to keep in touch with Murdock, while Arthur and Miss Bennet congratulated Reno and Romeo complimented Reno's tattoo as being brilliant. Sokka notices that Reno's drunk. Sam and Max wanted to give Reno presents: embezzled money and a blanket pardon an an actual blanket.
Bah-dah-ching.
Lee got a message from Kerrigan via River and Miss Bennet was all encouraging toward him. I'm sure his arms and hearts-in-jars will get him very far in life. Bridge met Angela's daughter and told Angela about Xander building stuff in the future, while he told Kawalsky that he was totally a better neighbor than his current ones.
Dōjima was surprised that Father Juliano was still here, and Romeo shared a bottle of champagne with her. Sokka wished her good luck and mentioned going off to save his world, and Rikku had to leave, too, despite Dōjima's pleas. Rikku then tackle-hugged Gavin, who was glad she got the right guy.
Tackle-hug, apparently, is a word. Adam caught up with Billy, and Adah told Romeo about how college isn't hard enough, or something, and then Billy saluted her and her pretentiousness.
Hurley was psyched and Jack Sparrow talked with Steve about being dead and crabs. Turtle wasn't too sick to talk with G'Kar about his vacation or Nathan about leaving to go run for Congress. Or yell at Sokka, who yelled at her for dumping Jeff.
Angela congratulated Harry for socializing and assured Morgan that he'd been a good wizard. Hurley promised Chad that he wouldn't burn down the record store and Sokka and Chad thumbs-upped each other and then Chad got a little flustered when Miss Bennet congratulated him.
Murdock mingled while the principal almost didn't recognize Jamie with pants and she got a congrats from Billy about another surviving class. I reminded Sokka that he's an old man, and Marty told Alanna about being an old man, too.
Sokka gave Jamie major props for the streaking thing, and Alanna just thinks he's insane, but he retaliates by breaking her brain with pregnancy questions. Rikku gawked at Jamie's new face. Summer was there and so was Peter, and another Angela mistook Jess for her son and disapproves of his haircut. Amber's mom and her friend were drunk, Sokka was chilling, and Brooke wasn't sure how to exactly chat with Miss Bennet about graduation robes. Jack smiled at people and John Connor caught up with Billy. Alanna was a little shocked at her recognizability and Nancy told Jaina aaaaalll about wanting to share an apartment with John. I hear that went well.
Yuna can see right through Rikku's fifthy lies, and Sokka gave Rikku a fist-pump. Which I hope isn't as dirty as I'm thinking. Miss Bennet was seeking out people to congratulate and Tully was looking for interesting people. Nope. None of those here. Billy sipped coffee, Robin was bouncy, and River was drawn by Alice's red hair.
...I can relate to that.
Anyway, there were a few games, like Sokka and Robin playing frisbee. And there was some dancing; Robin was all about that.
Amber told Liir he can kind of stop congratulating her, and Alice and Adah discuss the state of Alice's madness. And Dinah, of course, bounces at Adah a lot and they recite Poe at each other.
...what? I don't know. Apparently, this Adah chick's a genius, according to Lee.
And what is a brunch without food and drink for consumption? That's consumption, the verb, not the noun, by the way. Jamie and Kawalsky are glad to see each other, and then Turtle and Jeff broke up, which, ladies and gentlemen, is probably the whole reason I'm here tonight. I'll bet Turtle's totally binging on chocolate ice cream and kicking anyone who gets near her in the shins right now. Either way, Sokka's attempt to celebrate graduating with Jeff was cut pretty short because the dude just got dumped.
Sue has healthy food and Ned and Chloe just like that it's free. Bender likes the battery cavities, and Sokka kept the food company. Sokka and Romeo discuss take-off dates, and Rikku demands of Romeo extra hugs. And Father Juliano and Romeo's dad get together and are all weird adult-y about discussing Romeo and Dojima's future.
Romeo's dad wants him home now, but Romeo manages to con his way into two years of free time. Nice work, my man. Anyway, he lets his friend Benvolio know, so that Benvolio can keep an eye on things back home.
What kind of name is Benvolio, anyway? Either way,Romeo then got the grilling on wha this intentions with Dōjima were from Father Juliano. Dude. I feel for you. That guy was in the diner, and, yeah, Dōjima's awesome, but I do not envy you that moment. She had an easier time with who I assume is Romeo's dad, who congratulated her on graduation.
Robin and his food hang out near Dinah, while Isabel congratulates Peter and chats with him about his summer plans and Nathan leaving. Ben Grimm and Johnny banter, with some congrats mixed in, while Tully and G'Kar talked business. Nathan was all relaxed and stuff and my dorky roommate and his girlfriend discussed cake versus brownies. Dude. Cake, all the way. Lindsey and Billy are all about the food and Tully's all about the meat. And I'm wishing I hadn't read that line.
Over at the tables, people ate and talked a lot. River confused the crap out of Arthur and Merlin, which isn't that hard, come on, and Piper congratulated Mac, because, whooo, she gradumatated. Like fifty gazillion others. Claire thanked Hurley for not telling her mom about all the weird stuff, and Lee's dad informs him that Toby is weird. Lee's dad is very astute. Dinah grabbed Lee's number to keep in touch. And then Lee's dad met Lee's girlfriend, and I hear that went very, very well. Toby's all frantic about the bathroom thing and gets Lee to help him out.
Hannibal's relaxing, which I'm sure is code for being lazy, and Dave finds John to let him know that, joy and sunshine, he can stay for the summer, and then he tells off some ex-girlfriend for being a bitch to Jaina. Corran and Gavin discuss how this place seems to really like its food, and Gavin thinks Luke looks old. Tully and Murdock discuss summer lighthouse plans, while Liz is all 'eee, Jess, you graduated, lemme meet your booooyfriend,' but apparently entering a Jimmy into the conversation is bad. John Crichton and Kawalsky catch up over talk of gremlins; so did Piper and Alanna, with less gremlins. Alanna and Xander's catchup included pudding storms. And Bridge loves Xander best because he got food.
You know, I really can't argue with logic like that. Mohinder has tea. And Benicio is all, 'dude, Johnny, stop macking on Savannah for, like, two seconds, so I can say hi.'
I hear that went well. Anyway, Tully got blankets, Billy waited for people, Tony found a spot, and Amber enjoyed a lot, lot, lot of people watching.
And, there you have it, your news for the day. Cal Stephanides, signing off, wishing all the grads the best of luck, and hoping everyone has a good summer. Please, record a lot of it, so I can make fun of you all when I get back.
And, lo and behold, you have Cal Stephanides radio. Aren't you lucky?
