Fandom Radio - Saturday, November 8, 2008 [Narnia Edition]

The Doctor: "Hello again! Here I am, right on time. You'd think the whole 'being on time' thing would happen more often, but it doesn't. The squirrels that are here tell me that there are squirrels at a wedding somewhere else, and it's newsworthy, so you'll get local news from me and wedding news from someone who probably doesn't have dress sense as good as mine. Off we go!

School and Dorms

Toby, Cal and Naomi earned detention this week. Well, maybe not earned, but they were there anyway. Mac, good old Mac, had the library open, but it was a bit of a dull day, no one showing up. Come on, libraries are great! Make Mac's day next weekend and go see her. Get a book. Expand your knowledge. Could be fun.

Ben and Ender spent some quality bonding time together, talking about hairdos and home life. I'm now wondering if they were braiding each others' hair and talking about girls they liked.

Friday and his cold camped out in the Fourth Floor Common Room. Angela took pity on the boy and made him some tea while he claimed his brain was trying to kill him from the inside. Don't joke, I've had that happen, not a very pleasant experience. Triela made him tea as well to try to combat the fountain of 'bodily ew' my notes say, which sounds suitably disgusting.

Town and the Markets

Down in old Fandom Town, Aly rescued Roy from drowning in paperwork and Murdock dressed his dog up. I never understood that. Those little canine sweater vests and Halloween costumes. Humans.

The usual places were open for weekend trading. Viki and her pink balloons, which I'm hoping isn't a euphemism, opened the Arms Hotel, Roy made it to the Trooper Station for even more paperwork, Hurley and the sounds of the Foo Fighters kept Groovy Tunes going and Misnc opened The Gig for Rosie, who is a red panda all of a sudden and I think it's best if I don't ask. Tully of the lighthouse came to drop in for a ride, followed by Arya who was very impressed by Minsc's blacksmithing worksmanship.

Pizza Planet had a very sick Jen wondering why her chicken broth wasn't tasting like it should, Apu had Turtle & Canary open for business, Robin of the frog persuasion was working at Android's Dungeon which sounds like more of a fix-it shop than a comic book shop and Toby, good old Toby, was reading Cosmo at Pixie Dust.

Ino manned the Clinic during the day, garnering a visit from Ichigo who came bearing hot chocolate and pastries, and the nurses were available for treatment in the evening.

The park was full of activity this afternoon with the Monthly Markets in full swing. Sarah manned the booth for Android's Dungeon, which gained the attention of patron Radek of Boktor who discussed different worlds and Eastern Europe which is really a different world of its own. Daisy also showed up to be friendly and neighbourly, and Momoko was over the moon at finding somewhere that sold collectibles she's interested in. Hope you found something interesting, Momoko!

Eliza held down the fort that was the Covent Garden Flowers booth. Daisy stopped in to smell the roses in a lovely bit of word play. Not far away, Kirk was selling friendship bracelets. Daisy was nostalgic about times gone by when friendship bracelets were all the rage, Jess seemed to know Kirk and they didn't get along very well, and Momoko came seeking a very specific type of bracelet and ended up discussing additive and subtractive primary colours. There aren't enough discussions about primary colours these days. Good work, both of you.

Radek of Boktor tried to persuade Murdock to buy a collar for Abby Irene, who's currently a dog, but Murdock opted for something intended for a human instead. A very brightly dressed girl named Claudia was selling art, Vianne was trying to sell chocolate of all sorts. The local businesses also had booths, namely Jeff, God of Biscuits, Chilly Boulder and the Perk. And after all that running around buying things, Cable, Simon and Daisy were ready to kick back and watch the afternoon go by.

Now I have it on good authority that if I push this button right here, you'll get the broadcast from a place called Narnia. Is that right? Right. I'm off. Enjoy the broadcast!"

Edmund: "I don't even know if they can hear me. They can? Right now? Then could you please give me the notes? Thank you. Hello, Fandom. Edmund here, reporting from Cair Paravel in Narnia, on the day of the royal wedding between High King Peter the Magnificent and now Queen Willow the Hopeful. We have titles. They just come with the territory.

Earlier this afternoon, Willow prepared herself for the ceremony. My sister Susan - the Gentle, if you must keep track of such things - attended to any last minute needs, which boiled down to bringing tea and reassuring that crowns don't fall off without prompting and that breathing is generally a good idea for on-going survival. The Man of Honour, Xander used-to-be-Harris-but-now-it's-Carson, which is a very long surname but he can have it as he doesn't have a title to speak of that you can keep track of, consoled his friend the bride. They talked about - oh. I see. They talked about Willow's eagerness to please the people of Narnia, and then they discussed me. Awkward. Let's not dwell, and move onto the guest list.

First to arrive were Jeff and Lady Turtle. They were followed by Barbossa and the noble squirrels in my presence. Luke and Lady Jaina came after and spoke of military action at home. John Sheppard was in attendance, as was...Chuck Bass, who I'm sure was a perfect gentleman all evening.

Lady Parker and her consort Ronan talked of how they know the bride and groom and of Ireland, and then Lady Parker re-introduced herself to Tony Stark. They then spoke of their mutual association through Tyler.

Lady Alanna -"

*chitter*

"Oh. Sir Alanna. My deepest apologies. Sir Alanna was the next to arrive and be greeted by Lady Parker. Master Anakin and Lady Rory Skywalker found their seats with ease. Wyatt and Lady Isabel made themselves comfortable. Sir Aeryn - I know the correct title this time - was without her husband John, who was in the wedding party, but was accompanied by young Talyn in his stead. Lady Piper and Lindsey were also in attendance, as were Sam and Dean Winchester and Anders, Belthazor and Lady Phoebe. Tony and Master Anakin commiserated about being the eldest sons of Adam in attendance, although not in those words. Constable Fraser, Mr Tumnus, Vice Principal Deadpool, Lady Temari, GOB and Sokka were also amongst those who came to see the ceremony, which I'm happy to tell you about now.

The procession was without incident, thankfully. Queen Susan - the Gentle, if you remember rightly - was accompanied by John Crichton. Queen Susan the Valiant was accompanied by Groomsman Jamie Madrox, which is an impotant distinction as you'll see shortly. Lady Melaka was accompanied by Charlie Kawalsky. Bridesman Jamie Madrox walked down the aisle with Cameron Mitchell and then Tyler followed to round up the members of the Stickbug Brotherhood in attendance. Man of Honour Xander was the last of the procession to walk to the front. My brother and I were there waiting, and I can assure you the discussion we had was entirely dignified and no threats were issued at all.

The bride did as brides do. There were vows, very well spoken if I may say so, and they were announced man and wife. High King Peter than crowned his new Queen, which seemed to have approval from on high as Aslan, long may he live, came to make an impact on the day's events and the audience."

Kawalsky: "Hey, you're Pete's brother, right?"

Edmund: "Yes. And you're one of the Stickbugs."

Kawalsky: "Until the day I die! Again. These squirrels bothering you?"

Edmund: "I was reporting on the ceremony for the radio station."

Kawalsky: "Mind if I take over? There's still food left if you want some."

Edmund: "I thought you'd never ask. Please. By all means, they're all yours. Goodnight, back in Fandom. I'll leave you in Mr Kawalsky's capable hands."

Kawalsky: "Hey hey Fandom! Charlie Kawalsky, Class of 2007, at your service. It's been a long time since I've been in Fandom, but I hope I haven't been totally forgotten. Big hello to all those I know, and those who I don't? Well, come say hello next time I'm in town. I'll even buy you a drink at Caritas. That's with me assuming Caritas hasn't been destroyed by an invasion. You never know.

Anyhow, we've got a big party going on here. Peter and Willow look good, the food and drink are flowing and there are talking animals, so it's pretty much your regular Fandom party.

Now it wouldn't be a wedding without presents. There's a big pile of 'em over there. I don't know what they are, but I'll bet there's a bunch of toasters even though we're in a world without electricity.

The bride and groom were around to talk to. Peter and Willow weren't about to let each other out of the other's sight. I've been drinking champagne, so there's a chance that sentence didn't make any sense. Roll with it. Tony Stark who I don't know, but I like his style, asked to kiss the bride for good luck. He also got stuck into a conversation about Bridge-related technology - that's the guy in green, not the engineering marvel - especially label makers that dispense candy. John Sheppard, the guy with the hair, hard to miss him, came to give his wishes, and Piper joined in on the action. Susan, the one that's Peter's sister not that I know any other Susans, did the girl gushing thing at Willow. I think it's a tradition or something. Madrox was even on his best behavior. This is a monumental occasion, folks, I'm not even kidding. And last to step up to the plate of wishing Willow all the best in being a kickass Queen of Narnia was Alanna. Redhead, purple eyes, great dress, hard to miss.

Peter got his own share of well-wishers, starting with Aeryn, and then there was that Alanna I'm pretty fond of who told Pete about her trip over. Man of Honor Xander was a little worried about wild horses, but still kept his cool. And this doesn't surprise me at all, but Peter dared Jamie into teaching the fauns the Electric Slide. I want photos, people. Photos!

Now we're onto the mingling part of the evening, which is the best part if you ask me. I know you didn't ask, but I'm talking to a microphone here. It can't answer back. At least I think it can't.

Much to the dismay - is that the right word? I think it is - of their husbands, Rory and Aeryn decided they wanted to live in a castle. Deadpool met Mrs Beaver and decided there wasn't enough alcohol in the world to deal with a talking beaver. Tyler who got old but is still lookin' as good as ever and I mean that in a strictly hetero kind of way was hanging out with his new pal Tony. They decided the talking animals were very Disney. I was thinking Warner Bros, but Disney's more on the money. Rory then saw Tyler for the first time since his unfortunate departure when we were back at school, then Parker, wearing Prada's Medieval Line I'm sure, introduced Tyler to her complication, Ronan. That's about as close as I can get without getting rude on air. I'm not drunk enough for that yet. Keep 'em coming, squirrels.

Susan was checking herself out in the reflection of a spoon, but Peter came to tell her she looked great. He also told her he wasn't too keen on her roommate, Chuck, and speaking of Chuck, he was the next to stop in and say hi. Seriously, you go by Chuck? I only get called that when someone's trying to piss me off. To each their own, or whatever the saying is.

Hey! It's Principal Washburn. No wait. Principal Winchester now, right? With Mr Winchester, the lucky man and they were being all coupley and that's not a good a mental image for me, so I'm gonna move on. Sheppard and Crichton caught up on old times and new times, namely the mighty little Meerbug Talyn. Then me and Crichton caught up on the news, chewed the fat and talked about opening a school of our own. Alanna joined in on some reminsicing of her own, talking about her trip and tights and fairies and I'm wondering now what kind of 'trip' this was. Sam go to meet the little Sun-Crichton fella too, and Peter wasn't far behind. Let's just say the kid's been a huge hit. Even Parker was impressed. That's saying something.

Aww look. Rory caught up with Hot Mountie. Remember when everyone had a crush on him? The girls, I mean. Not us guys. Good times, good times. You know what else is good times? Food. That's right, Sokka went hunting for the food. Sheppard and Jaina talked about having kids, not til you're older young whipper-snappers, but they did make it to the dance floor a little later in the evening, and Jeff eyed the dance floor. I don't know whether he was just shy or looking to blow it up so he didn't have to dance. Time will tell.

And of course, there was the formal stuff. The Best Man managed not to be all schmoopy - good man - and so did the Man of Honor. Good job, gentlemen. You've saved us all from the threat of schmoop. Speaking of formalities, y'know how the bride throws the bouquet and whoever catches it is supposed to get married next? Yeah. Congrats to Bel and Anders and Phoebe, if that thing's still going, for the good catch.

Okay, so Jamie has a ninja girlfriend and no one told me. This is big news, people! He's moving up in the world! Anyway, they talked about the talking animals. Yes. The animals talk. This is somehow astounding, except for the part how there was a talking cat at school for two years. I think there were even turtles at some point. Go with the Fandom tried and true method of coping - nod and smile. Just nod and smile. Turtle, not a turtle, the girl Turtle just loved Jamie's kilt. Oh hey, there's the conversation Alanna and I had. Nothing to see here. Move it along.

Tyler and Bel caught up on old times and Tyler being old, Wyatt and Piper decided to move into a castle as well, Isabel talked to Dean about the Sam and Peter news, whatever that is, and marvelled - I love that word, man - with Ronan at the castle. It's a really awesome castle, Fandom. I've seen some castles now, and I've gotta say, this one takes the cake. Dean and Alanna talked about their trips, Lucy and Peter had some one-on-one big brother/little sister time and Sam and John Winchester had a little one-on-one father/son time. Ronan met Mr Tumnus, who I've heard is a great guy. Phoebe and Piper talked about who's getting married next out of the two of them and - haha, oh man. This I would've loved to see. Peter met Susan's roommate Chuck. I don't see any mention of bloodshed. Why is there no mention of bloodshed?

Maaaan. Oh well. Izzy and Parker got together for a talk, and on the guys' side of things Wyatt and Ronan did some talking of their own.

So guess what? No, really guess."

*chitter*

Kawalsky: "Yes, I am wearing tights under this. That's not a guess, you can see that."

*chitter*

Kawalsky: "No, I haven't decided to become a traveling drag queen - did Peter Parker put you up to that? No, I was going to say that we're done! Yep. We're outta here. Nice talkin' to you again, Fandom. Stay outta trouble, or at least have fun doing it. This is Charlie Kawalsky for WTFH pirate radio signing off from Cair Paravel in Narnia. Back to you in the studio, Bob."
