Fandom Radio :: friday, July 4th.

*music starts; it is distinctly the swell of the first few bars of America the Beautiful. Then the singing starts, and, as she sang the lyrics to the song, it became clear that what Turtle lacked in talent, she made up for in passion*

Ohhhh, beautiful! For SPACIOUS skies! For AM.BER.WAVES.OF.GRAAAAAAIN.
For puuuurple mountains maaaaajesty ABOVE THE FRUITED PLAINS!
Ah-MARE-ica, Ah-MARE-ica. God. Shed. His. Grace. on. THEEEEEEEEEE.
And CROWN thy good. With BROTHERhood. From SEA to shi-NING sea!!!!

Good evening, fellow Fandomites! It's the fourth best day of the year, the fourth of July, when we celebrate the birth of the greatest nation ever, the United States of America! Home of the brave, the strong, the smart, the capitalist, the democratic! What's not to love? Two hundred and thirty two years old and still kicking strong! Even if we are in Antarctica, I'd like to take a moment to mention that I am very proud to be an American and I'm so happy that, normally, we are also a part of America, and that I couldn't think of a better place for so many people from different worlds to come together and enjoy freedom and democracy and capitalism at its finest!

YAY AMERICA! Best country ever! And not just because it's my country! I was going to give the squirrels some sparklers to celebrate, but I didn't think that was particularly wise with all the equipment around, really.

Not to mention the booze.

But let's get to these notes! Usually, I would go home for such an important day such as this, since Westingtown has the best Independence Day parties, but I love Fandom as much as I love America, and I'm here to do my duty of bringing you the news.

DORMS OF FREEDOM!

In her room today, Ino is talking to a kitten, and I'll bet anyone fifty bucks that the kitten is a fellow student. Lana swings by to make plans for the cruise, which involves kimonos, but, I'm sorry, unless it's in stripes and stars? So not very patriotic.

...I kind of want a stripes and stars kimono now. That'd be pretty sweet. Michael stopped by, too, and Ino explained that the cat is Liir. Ha! Told you! I'll bet some of you guys out there totally owe me fifty bucks. I'll accept payment in the form of patriotic sentiments, as well.

Meanwhile, Gladys is outside, enjoying the natural fireworks. See? Even Nature supports Independence Day! Jamie agrees.

TOWN OF THE BRAVE!

Many people contributed to the great capitalist spirit that was helped made America great today. This includes Mister Stinson at the Atlas Gym and Mister Kurogane at Cafe Fina. Sora, of course, at Turtle & Canary and Jen at Pizza Planet. Chad's cat reminds him to be patriotic at Groovy Tunes and Ella gave the staff this wonder Independence Day off at Luke's Diner. She also tells G'Kar that he was a cute kitten, and I wish I'd have seen him. Maybe someone has pictures? Dick threatened to order lots of food to make Ella work extra hard, but doesn't, since that would have been mean, Dick. I still don't feel like I should be saying that on the air. Tyler also put up a notice about a room for rent. Little sister Kaylee is working hard as always at Stark Industries and Ned rewarded her industriousness with a cupcake! Lucas came to pick up his ball polisher. I don't understand why the squirrels are snickering at that. Squirrels are weird. Anyway, Jaina and Karal forgot that they were in ANTARCTICA and went to get ice cream. Mister Gabriel ruins the perfectly fine smell of donuts and tuna with coffee at Our Lady of Fandom Church and River sketched a little at the Arms Hotel. Jenny got drunk at Pixie Dust. I'm not even going to say anythi--

Oh, I'll just say it. She is British. And today does celebrate when we totally decided that, hey, we didn't need you and your tea and your extra 'u's in words, so drink it up. America Forever! WHOOOO.

Mister Rogers met up with someone at the causeway before heading off. Aww, we'll miss you! And somehow, although I'm not sure why, it feels oddly appropriate but somewhat sadder that you're leaving today. Probably just because it's the Fourth of July, and that is one of the best days ever. Before he left, though, he got a visit from the Captain, who got some last bits of teacherly advice, and Mister Stark, to talk about some pony pictures, which I won't ask about, and stuff not to do. Like, apparently, not getting killed. Always good advice. And then Mister Deadpool is watching ANTM, which, yes, I know it's America's Next Top Model, but that's hardly the most patriotic thing you cou--

Oh. Wait. He's Canadian. Never mind. Anyway, Mister Arashi comes home with laundry and he and Mister Deadpool have awkwardy non-fun times.

Because neither of them are American. Ahem.

The zombies got into the spirit of the celebration of the best nation in the world with all sorts of musical tributes at Caritas tonight, and see? A great country is bound to have many great overtures to celebrate it. Igor is celebrating at the clinic, too, although my notes say 'in his own way.' I'm not sure what that means, but it makes me feel that it's a good thing he's already at the clinic. Experimenting too freely with fireworks is bad. I know this from all too personal experience, people.

Meanwhile, there was this amazing cruise tonight that many people could go enjoy, and I have to admit that it was definitely an acceptable substitute for the annual Westingtown blow-out. Even if there wasn't a big parade and someone dressed up as Uncle Sam. Lots of people got on and mingled and they enjoyed delicious food. Some crazy people enjoyed the sights outside on the decks. There weren't any fireworks, but there was still the too gorgeous for words northern lights. My only problem was the lack of red, white, and blue, but...well...it's okay. It is Antarctica. It doesn't exactly belong to any particular nation, so I suppose it can't show too much of a bias.

Those are all my notes for the night! I'm sure they're so short because everyone was simply being patriotic out of the sight of the squirrels. But, since you can never be too patriotic, let us take a moment for another song celebrating this great nation.

*clears throat*

*again, with the music*

Oh-oh, say can you SEEEEE
By the dawn's earl-lee liiiight,
What so PROUDly we HAILED
At the twi.light's. Last. Gleam. Ming.

[[ edited to have the right lyrics; Turtle's patriotism I do not quite share XD ]]
