Fandom Radio, Saturday, November 1
Lydia: Good morning, everyone, and welcome to November! My, the year is flying along, isn't it? I hope no one celebrated overmuch last night, but if you did, fear not, I am here to tell you what you have forgotten.
Lydia: We shall begin, however, with the school, where Driver's Education was offering candy as prizes for a game the students were playing, and Weather and Storms learned about will-o'-the-wisps. Oh. So they're not fairies? Disappointing.
Lydia: I haven't any notes from the dormitory, but I'm sure they would run to something like, 'We were all putting the finishing touches on our costumes,' anyway. In the town, Dr. Quinn and her pet "kitty," Bruce, were in at Needful Things, and Mr. Henry of Skalitz was hard at work at the forge.
Lydia: Most of the day's action, of course, was to be found at Miss Vess's house, at the splendid Halloween party hosted by Mr. Scientia, Mr. Anthony Stark, Mr. Rogers, and, of course, Miss Vess herself. It was simply to die for, darling. The hosts were there to greet the arrivals, with Mr. Scientia and Miss Vess discussing the party setup and related breakthroughs in medical science, along with his costume for the evening, with Mr. Rogers. Miss Vess discussed the 'haunted house' aspect of the party with Mr. Morningstar, who was dressed as a formal serpent, and had to explain snakes in popular culture to Miss Blake
Tony: Oh, hello, Lydia. Sorry to intrude, but the squirrels were pretty insistent on my being here. And wow, I can see why with those notes.
*proud chittering*
Lydia: Oh, Mr. Stark. Speak of the–well, no, I hadn’t spoken of you much yet, but my next notes are about you. Here, you can read them while I fix a cup of tea. I fear I am going to need it. Would you like one?
Tony: You have yourself a deal. I was also at the party in costume. One that matched Steve's with whom I managed to get permission to keep buying clothes for. Liliana and I congratulated ourselves on a job well done and considered how we definitely won't be needing supervision next time. And then Kitty and I decided on a future party at Caritas. I think she just wants a rematch after the last time. Remy wasn't in costume other than the whole... X-Men thing and a pair of cat ears, it seems. Better than nothing! He explained Mardi Gras to Liliana and how New Orleans was a head above the rest in terms of celebrating it. Kitty and he talked about skeletons and how she managed to hit the nail on the head in terms of theming. Greg explained how he was from an afterlife to Remy. Which seems about par for the course on this island, honestly. Prompto and his daughter were also there, explaining her costume of a candy chocobo with all due seriousness. Stark also popped over to say hello to them. Billie arrived with an announcement in... well, the squirrels aren't sure. But they're guessing German and who am I to question that? But she explained to Liliana that she was dressed up as Mozart for the party because he was in her dad's band. Okay. Okay, sure. Riri guessed it was a French Revolution costume before worrying that her own get up wasn't right for the party. Arden asked what she'd said and apparently it was... well, it was interesting to say the least. And I don't think I should be saying it on air unless I really want it to go viral somewhere.
Lydia: Here we are. There’s sugar, sir, but I should warn you the squirrels apparently only keep almond milk. I didn’t even know you could milk an almond.
Tony: I know this is another viral soundbyte trap, but… yes. Yes, you can milk an almond.
Lydia: Mrs. Pryde-Barton came as a sort of sparkly skeleton, which led her and Miss Smith to compare their costumes. That's always the risk with fancy dress, isn't it, that someone else has picked the same costume as you? Miss Vess told her that she would make her skeletons jealous, as none of them shimmer, and Miss Pryde-Barton suggested glitter, as if it doesn't get everywhere already. I was there, of course, dressed as a very fashionable witch, if I do say so myself, with Miss Skywalker commenting on how familiar my costume seemed, though I had to explain some elements of my costume to Miss Vess. Miss Smith was a sort of pink skeleton, which garnered praise from Miss Vess and Miss Skywalker, to whom Miss Smith expressed concern that Miss Skywalker was repeating her costume from last year, but apparently it wasn't on purpose, whilst Miss Smith and Mr. James Stark were startled to realize they had also matched costumes. Well, none of you were identical. You could have arranged a little skeletons tableau. Miss Finch was one of the brides of Dracula, from some book or other, goodness, I wonder how many times he gets married. She and I exchanged compliments--she particularly liked my hat--and discussed Mr. Blackwood's aversion to color, and Mr. LeBeau mistook her costume for the folk costume of a nation in his world. Mr. Northman professed to be offended by her appropriation of vampiric culture, but he was merely, as they say, kidding. And *sigh* Mr. Kestis was also there.
Tony: Duke was there too, dressed up as an apple to go with the snakes of Octavia and Lucifer it seems, something he had to explain to Liliana. Luma was dressed up in a dress which Liliana made sure to encourage. Arden and her explained their costumes, a vampire bride and belladonna respectively. Sounds dangerous. Don showed up dressed in the best Thor costume I've ever seen and then explained to Liliana that he'd be the one gracing the party. Steve, my lovely husband, made sure to get a picture of the costume before discussing future plans for costumes that I'm not sure I'll enjoy as much. Don and I talked about the scientific achievements that happened with the party. Because it happens that way sometimes. Harley learned that there were, yes, a number of people oh whom costumes are made. I couldn't stop that copyright infringement if I tried. They just call them Robot Guy or Patriotic Dude. Adrian explained how he was a pirate to my lovely co-reporter Lydia here and flirted with Rey over her popcorn costume. Anything to add, Lydia?
Lydia: Only that a few pops of a color, any color, would have really set Mr. Blackwood’s pirate costume off splendidly. Miss Skywalker was, as previously mentioned, in attendance, dressed as...ah, my notes say 'sexy popcorn' but I don't think that can possibly be correct. She explained to Miss Vess that she had had an unplanned costume transformation en route--apparently she was meant to be a deer. Captain Flint asked for an explanation of said costume, but I'm not sure it's the sort of thing that can be explained. Miss Eleanor was a most adorable cat, and the comfort of her costume earned praise from Mr. Gray and Miss Finch, and she paid compliments on the party to Miss Vess. Mr. Amicitia had Miss Vess ask whether he had modified his costume, whilst Miss Williams had doubts about her own ensemble. She and Mr. Boone shared their anxieties with one another, although Miss Vess didn't see the issue. Well, there you go! The hostess has spoken, as did Miss Finch, with whom Miss Williams discussed the general attractiveness level of the populace. It is quite high.
Tony: She's spot on there. Raiden and his flaming hot Cheetos costume confused Liliana, but didn't confuse this radio announcer. I think it was an amazing choice. And it looks like Flint agreed with that assessment. Erasmus realized that his tee-shirt didn't quite fit the party, but being a necromancer did. Liliana and he then talked about this time of year for them. I assume it's a lot. But, you know. Magic. Not my thing. Arden explained the level of parties around here and then they discussed the trip abroad. Gray had his possum costume and discussed the changes to holidays over the years with cultures with Liliana. ANd then was greeted enthusiastically by Arden was was surprised it wasn't a sexy eggplant. That feels a little on the nose for a costume, honestly. Flint explained to Liliana that he didn't normally have a parrot as he was dressed up as a pirate. Which is the only difference apparently. Sexy nurse Harley explained to Liliana that she got a machete from the haunted house. And that... sure. Completely tracks. Stark complimented the theme by also being a skeleton and let Liliana know the place looked great. It did, didn't it? Jon and Greg compared this world to both of theirs. That's just a recipe for confusion there. Oh and it seems that Jon was dressed up as someone from Liliana's world, which she enjoyed. Summer chimed in to explain a little more about his costume since she's apparently living in the same city as him now.
Lydia: Dr. Lecter added to the grouping of pirates in attendance--another tableau, perhaps, in the making, and he and Miss Vess paid compliments to one another, of course. Mr. Gregorith arrived and met Miss Vess. Mr. Grant and Detective Watts, freshly returned from holiday, arrived dressed as...ah, the sun and the moon, very celestial, and Mr. Grant caught up a bit with Mr. Gregorith and Miss Vess, as well as being greeted by Mr. James Stark, whilst Detective Watts was welcomed by Miss Vess and Mr. James Stark. Miss Belle rounded out the evening's complement of pirates, with Miss Vess noting that meant they won the day, and *sigh* Mr. Kestis was also there to be greeted by Miss Vess.
Tony: And then over at the concessions, we had Henry a little confused about the holiday with Arden who he hadn't seen in a while. Harley managed to confuse Henry in absolutely no time at all. I'm sure it was fun nonetheless. Octavia and Duke made some plans regarding Lucifer while enjoying their ciders. And Greg and Jon had drinks together while chatting about food.
Lydia: Outside of the ballroom, the mansion had been transformed into a haunted house. How thrilling! Mr. Morningstar wanted a bit more from the performers, though Mr. Crocker pointed out that his standards might be a bit high, what with being from Hell and all. Dr. Quinn wanted to join the performers, and Mr. Northman gave them some pointers before flirting with Dr. Quinn. Miss Maybrook chased one of the performers before she encountered Dr. Quinn, with whom she discussed weapons and such. Dr. Lecter also had tips for the performers, whilst Mr. Gregorith got a bit turned around and had to ask for directions. And…I do believe that’s the last of the notes! It was quite a party.
Tony: Yeah, the squirrels were right to bring in back up for you.
Lydia: They can be not awful sometimes, I’ll give them that.
Tony: How about brunch on me to make up for the work? Since I was part of throwing that party and all.
Lydia: I believe I shall take you up on that kind offer, sir. Until next week, dear listeners!
Lydia: We shall begin, however, with the school, where Driver's Education was offering candy as prizes for a game the students were playing, and Weather and Storms learned about will-o'-the-wisps. Oh. So they're not fairies? Disappointing.
