Oh...dear God.
*rustling paper*
Well. I suppose this is to be expected.
Good morning, dear listeners, and it is I, Lydia Bennet, here to bring you all the news of yesterday. You might want to settle in, perhaps make yourselves a nice cup of tea, as the squirrels have failed to do for me. We are going to be here for...a while.
We shall begin as always with the school, where the last classes of the term wrapped up. In Doctoring 101, Dr. Navaan taught her students how to deal with rival medical professionals. Mr. Stark had such a surplus of food in Food Network Appreciation that Mr. Gray offered to summon his brother to take some of it away. Camping 101 discussed keeping cool in the heat, and then did a treasure hunt. Improvisation in Action put on a surprise show. That is the end of my notes for the school, and there are no notes for the dorms--and I am not in the mood for--oh, he was pulled to cover the party? That's very well, then. Gentle listeners, you may be pleased to know that the porg intern may remain unhexed at this time.
In town, Detective Watts was dealing with a raccoon thief at the Trooper Station, where Mr. Grant joined him for lunch and discussion of their upcoming trip in celebration of their anniversary. Oh! At the clinic, Dr. Navaan and...a crab...were cleaning, whilst at Wellspring Arms, Mr. Ghoul and his dog were visited by Miss MacLean, who also wanted to practice her shooting. Mayor Faden was at The Perk, where she met Miss Maximoff and they discussed the barista's stresses and their mutual acquaintance Mr. Barnes. Miss Mariner was working hard at Stark Industries, and at Needful Things Dr. Quinn had a fresh influx of disco balls, and with the combination of those two things, I suppose we should move along to...yes, thank you. That stack of notes.
As you may already be aware, there was a party yesterday evening at Stark Tower. Specifically a 'seventies roller disco,' which I have learned much about! First the guests arrived and mingled, with Miss Maximoff leading the charge, and receiving greetings from Mr. Rogers, Mr. Stark, and Mr. Odinson, with Miss Maximoff "calling dibs," whatever that means, on the current ballroom chandelier. Miss Vess and Mr. Stark discussed a joint party to be held in the future--what a splendid idea--and she and Mr. Winchester discussed the likelihood of her joining the skating. Miss MacLean complimented her ensemble, and they discussed Miss MacLean's wedding and subsequent widowhood. Oh, dear. I should say Mrs. MacLean, I suppose?
*chittering*
Well, even if--I shall simply have to find her and ask her what she would prefer.
*more chittering*
The squirrels have just informed me of a newfangled honorific called 'Ms.'! It seems quite useful! But back to my notes, as there are so very many! Mr. Rogers also greeted Miss Vess and discussed her next party, as well as the possibility of providing enrichment for the local police, and Mr. Sims also paid her compliments. Mr. Winchester discussed the possibility of skating with Mr. Rogers, and Mr. Stark complimented his shirt--really?--before Miss Finch...I do apologize, Arden, but I must read what the squirrels have written. Miss Finch insulted his age. I fear that Mr. Kestis has been a bad influence on her. Miss Wren also paid compliments to his shirt. It was...quite a shirt.
They were all quite shirts, really.
Dr. Quinn came prepared more for roller derby, whatever that is, than roller disco, and Mr. Stark suggested she teach a class on the former. She then discussed chandeliers past with Miss Vess and her earrings and the squirrels with Mr. Rogers before the other Mr. Stark paid compliments to her earrings. Mr. Odinson was surprised by the existence of the ballroom, and discussed the particulars of the party with Mr. Stark, someone called Elvis with Dr. Quinn, and the importance of accessories and Mr. Rogers' upcoming birthday with Mr. Rogers.
Miss Adler and Mr. Stark complimented one another's ensembles, and she and Miss Vess did the same before discussing their mutual desire to not join the skating. Oh, same, as I believe is the slang here. She also discussed the new chandelier and chandeliers past with Mr. Rogers. Dr. Blake had rather an awkward conversation with Miss Finch, and then discussed his trousers and, again, the chandelier with Mr. Rogers. The Other Mr. Stark arrived and was greeted by, well, Mr. Stark, as well as Mr. Rogers, Miss Vess, with whom he discussed clothing, and Miss Skywalker, with whom he discussed joining in the skating.
Let's see....ah! Miss Finch was also there, with Mr. Kestis complimenting her appearance--as well he should--and her and Dr. Quinn paying one another compliments before she and Mr. Rogers discussed the Waffle House, how fortunate they were in Dr. Blake's presence in case of need, and the paintball class, which, from what I have heard, might also benefit from Dr. Blake's presence. Ms. MacLean was surprised by the difference between the ballroom and the part of Stark Industries where she works, with Mr. Stark explaining that it was too cramped there for a party, and that glitter was endemic to the parties here. That's true, from my experience. Mr. Rogers explained the ballroom to her--la, imagine not knowing what a ballroom is! The future sounds dreadful!--and Dr. Quinn told her about disco balls, which, for those of you who still don't know, are a sort of mirrored ball used to reflect light. The effect is quite lovely!
Mrs. Pryde-Barton was asked to skate by Mr. Stark, as apparently Mr. Rogers' skills are not up to the task of joining him. Oh! She then asked Mr. Rogers to skate with her, regardless of his level of skill. Mr. Kestis was also there. Mr. Rogers discussed with him whether Dean Skywalker would get any ideas from this party, and Miss Khan complimented his shirt and his pet machine thing's scarf, which was very kind of her. Mr. Barton was also present, with--oh, my. Mr. Stark threatening to steal his wife, and Mr. Barton threatening to steal Mr. Rogers in return, but Mr. Stark still promised to...save Mr. Barton a dance? I fear this relationship may be too complicated for even the London scandal papers to sort out, and I am just a young lady from Hertfordshire. Mr. Barton asked Mrs. Pryde-Barton if he would have to build a skating rink in their basement. Whatever it takes to keep your marriage intact, I suppose. Mr. Rogers and Dr. Blake both commented upon Mr. Barton's shirt.
I was also present, although I must confess, dear listeners, that I did not quite understand the theme and was not appropriately dressed. Arden and I discussed clothing and different types of magic, and Ms. MacLean and I discussed being from the past and being from the future. I also talked about the party with Mr. Rogers, and did you know that someone threw an elephant through their building once? Dr. Foster realized upon arrival that she was wearing the same outfit as Mrs. Pryde Barton, and was then approached by Mr. Gray, who was also wearing the same outfit. She then discussed taking photos to commemorate the situation with Mrs. Pryde-Barton. Do you know, this was not a problem we had in 1810. All our dresses were made to order. Mr. Rogers encouraged her to skate, and Mr. Winchester pretended to mistake her for Mrs. Pryde-Barton before she discussed dinner arrangements with Dr. Blake. Mr. Gray was amused by his fashion replication, and told Mr. Stark that in the future he thought everyone would wear it. Lord, I hope not. He told Mr. Rogers that he was excited to roller skate, and likewise with Mrs. Pryde-Barton, with whom he also discussed getting photos with Dr. Foster. Mr. Gray's brother Mr. Raiden--why do they have different names?
*chittering*
What do you mean, 'like Cher?' You know what? Don't explain that. We've been here long enough already. Mr. Raiden was also there, talking about the food with Mr. Rogers and the other Mr. Stark's appreciation of him taking the excess food from his class. Miss Beniko and Mr. Stark paid one another compliments and discussed glitter, and Miss Vess bemoaned that she hadn't known Miss Beniko's dress was an option. Mr. Rogers discussed the fashions with her, and she discussed ease of movement with Miss Wren.
Miss Zarrin discussed borrowing skates with Mr. Rogers and knowing how to skate with Miss Finch. Miss Khan took a break from yelling at Jerry, the incomptent waiter, to talk about skating with Miss Zarrin. Miss Skywalker discussed changing up her look with Mr. Rogers, and Mr. Kestis told her she looked 'normal,' which is not how you pay a lady a compliment, but what do we expect? Miss Blackstone and Miss Adler paid one another compliments. Mr. Amicitia forgot his shirt, but Mr. Rogers welcomed him nevertheless--the future really is different--and also greeted Mr. Zane. Mr. Scientia had the chandelier described to him by Miss Vess, then met Dr. Blake properly. Mr. Stewart was greeted by Miss Finch Miss Wren told Mr. Rogers that she was "into" the party, and Mr. Argentum arrived with his daughter Noctra, while Mr. Sims and Dr. Lecter also arrived.
There was a walled-off space for skating, with several people daring the floor, including Miss Zarrin with Miss Finch and Miss Khan. I must confess I did not participate out of concern for the ongoing integrity of my bones, but it seems that much fun was had. There was also a separate space for those who wished to dance.
There was also quite a marvelous spread of food, although Miss Khan continued to have difficulty running down Jeremy with the crab puffs. Oh, those sound delightful. I must have missed them. Mr. Rogers reminded her to enjoy the party, and she and Miss Finch discussed her ensemble and Miss Khan's mother's past. She directed Dr. Quinn to the chocolate fountain, which may be the most wondrous thing I have seen yet in the twenty-first century, and she and I discussed the party a bit. And, of course, there were drinks--not just punch, but Miss Smith tending bar, serving Miss Skywalker something nonalcoholic and Dr. Quinn "shots," which I only know in the context of a gun but will choose to assume has some other meaning here. She made the other Mr. Stark turn around for some reason, and Mr. Stewart was a bit odd at her, but Mr. Stewart is always a bit odd, so that's fine. Next--
That's...that's it. That's the last note. Well! I shall bid you farewell, dear listeners, and go fetch a nice cup of tea. With honey, for my poor throat. Until next week!
