This is Anakin Skywalker--the Dean of Students for you newcomers--with the news of yesterday.
*chittering*
That I get from squirrels, yes, thank you. Let's begin: Liliana snuck into Ignis' apartment in the dead of night.
*loooooooooong pause*
Creepy squirrels with inappropriate understanding of boundaries. You've been warned. Miguel had a slow day at the diner, new member of the Trooper Station Humphrey told Watts that he'd fallen down some of the stairs in town--don't do that--and Tino was giving Jane grief for being late to her shift at Caritas. Don't let him push you around, Jane.
After an uneventful trip from the airport, I dropped some of the newcomers off at the welcome picnic, where much of the town came to eat the school-provided free food and see if we got another talking pony this semester.
*chittering*
We didn't get a talking pony. Gladio was there with Prompto's daughter--babysitting for the weekend, he told Stark--and Nell got to hold the baby while she chatted with Gladio about further plans that evening. Annie and Liliana complained about how the island had chosen the day of the welcome picnic to decide to be cold, and I got to meet Ben and Maggie and commiserate with Annie a little about raising children with powers. Gladio and Annie had an impromptu baby play date--
*chittering*
Of course I know about play dates. Nell got to hold Ben for a little while as she chatted with Annie, and Steven talked with Annie about the twins' outfits and her going back to work. New teacher Yukari met her teaching liaison Jon who was not prepared for her level of bluntness and enthusiasm, I met my advisee Mariner who was surprised to learn we're in 2024, Stark gave Summer shrimp-free hot chocolate, thank you for that detail, Liliana rewrapped Humphrey's ankle after his fall down the stairs--we do also have a clinic, Humphrey, you might want to make friends with the people who work there--Lana was assigned as Liliana's faculty helper and told Liliana about how much I dislike her, which is all very true, and Stark anxioused--that's not a word--at her about his ability to not be a problem in her class. Which is what again?
*chittering*
*looooooooooooooooooong pause*
Right. Well. Choices have been made. Liliana also told Nell about her course and how they would see each other in Ignis' class. And speaking of Ignis, he and Noctra came by to talk about the appalling things toddlers will eat. Stark and Steven told each other about what they did for New Year's Eve, Lydia's faculty advisor Jon tried to tell her about modern conveniences like phones and rickshaws--rickshaws? Really?--and Navaan and I were--
*chittering*
We were not 'besties.' She is a lot. Lana healed Atton's injuries at the picnic, too, and let me assure the newcomers that most of us aren't constantly walking around hurt. Speaking of injured, Steven found out about Humphrey and then gave him suggestions in town for places to find furniture, decent food, and tea. Arden complained to both Steven and Watts about the cold weather--no one tell her about Hoth--and Sam is not happy to discover that he and Beaker are co-teaching this semester.
*chittering*
The squirrels want you to know that one only thing caught fire during their conversation. Irene wondered to Amaya if Zoe and I would be open to putting the picnic indoors--no--and Kurt was glad to see Libby back from break. Watts told Stark about seeing the Northern Lights, and Ahsoka is back to teach with me and our reunion was--
*chittering*
Fine. It was fine. She also was reintroduced to Summer, her faculty liaison.
And that's everything! Classes start tomorrow, I'll see you there.
