What's up, Fandom listeners? That was Built to Spill with "Carry the Zero", I'm Steph, and you're listening to WTFH.
*slightly irregular drum fill and splash cymbal*
Yeah, you're getting the hang of it, intern porg!
So what's the news from Monday, courtesy of our very own squirrel reporters who are not content with harvesting mere nuts? Well, you're in luck, because that's what you're about to find out, starting with -- thanks, Leroy -- School notes. Intro to Fandom had the kind of 'pay attention because you're going to need this someday' lesson that you can only get here, which is to say that -- oh god, it's a regular thing? -- yes, sometimes you too may have your own potential kids from the future show up. Non-Deadly Heroics met at the Perk, where Aphra and Isabela had them contemplate the question of whether they'd rather be commemorated, or stay alive so they can get perks -- ow, Leroy, unnecessary -- like free drinks for life. There are little smirky faces on this note. I just need to mention that. What was Fight Stuff fighting yesterday, you ask? Punching bags and training dummies. Boring, but practical when you're learning how to punch things without breaking your thumbs. And finally Diplomacy learned the art of setting boundaries, starting with the very crucial first rule of diplomacy, which is not to stab people? Wait. I mean, that's probably a good idea anyway, right? But no, it's really about not letting people talk you out of saying no.
Do we have Dorms notes? No, just a single index card that says" Dorms" on it and has a giant sad face with glittery puff paint tears. Wow, guys, that's... wow. Okay. On to Town.
Leading off, the squirrels would like to congratulate Ulysses on showing up to work at the movie theater?
*squirrelly cheers and party horns*
Look, showing up on a Monday morning can be a monumentally difficult task, which he achieved. Congrats, my dude. At the Photo Hut, Prompto was pretty deep in thought until Liz, who showed up with the last of the stuff she was moving back over from Hannibal's place. And by 'last of the stuff' I mean the most important thing: the cat. Connor was going through coffee fast at the museum, not to mention asking Cutter to watch Rex tomorrow night since he has a date with Michael.
*chorus of tiny 'ooooooooh's*
Aim that glitter elsewhere, squirrels, thanks. Sakaki had the honor of being the Furnado puppies' jungle gym for the day, and Rosa had squirrels trying to hire her for a job. The acorns weren't enticing enough but the rum? At least worth considering. At Turtle and Canary, Apu may have put his next performance review in jeopardy since Summer was not happy about him spotlighting mesothelioma awareness instead of hot lumberjacks.
*chittering*
What? Yeah, I'd go for lumberjack day myself.
*chittering*
Listen, you're the one making assumptions about lumberjack gender. You should know better, Leroy. Raiden's menu at Pizza Planet included artichoke spinach dip pizza, hummus pizza, and pizza dip with breadsticks. Is there perhaps a theme at work here? My dear listeners, I think there just might be. The totally awesome Magpie Emporium was kind of a mess after the weekend, but not enough to get Vi down. For some reason. The Troopers probably were, though, since Steve McG was making them do some extra working out for no reason, which is underlined like five times on this note. Nell had cookies and lists of plans to work on at Covent Garden Flowers, plus a visit from Steven with apples, honey, and a nice long catchup conversation after the weekend.
Elsewhere in town, the Steve I hadn't mentioned yet was unwinding by having a movie day complete with popcorn and also, you know, Tony. Curious radio hosts would like to know what kind of movies --
*paper rustling*
-- ah, thank you, intern porg. It was, quote, "bad old science fiction," to which I say 'bad' is entirely relative, thank you very much. And on this absolutely glitter-drenched note we have... awww, Watts and Steven celebrated Rosh Hashanah together, with a lot of food and even more cuteness, going by... seriously, there is glitter snowing off this piece of paper. How is this studio not covered in multiple layers of it from floor to ceiling by now, I wonder and then immediately decide I don't want to know.
And finally, in --
*excitable chittering and clacking noises*
They have tiny grabby-arm tool things, except they look like crab claws. I need you to know this.
In your regularly scheduled Stabby the Crab lore update and also clinic news, Stabby had visitors for the weekend. Also, he had pictures to show people. And the nurses wanted Stark to know they were displeased about him not bringing his guest, who was awesome by the way, to visit them. But hey, Steven came to visit, with Rosh Hashanah gifts for Stark, who also got to learn about the Jewish calendar. I feel like more of us should know about it, actually.
And that is the thought I'm going to leave you with today, Fandom. See you next week!
