Fandom Radio, Tuesday, September 20

That was The Greeting Committee with "Hands Down," and you're on the air with Steph!

*tiny drum fill*

... and the intern porg, who has found a calling, and I definitely approve. Hey, after the broadcast I'm gonna show you a few tricks, okay?

*excited trilling*

Cool, so what was going on at the School yesterday? Well, Intro to Fandom was trying to get people prepared for Parents' Weekend, in what I'm sure is going to be an ongoing radio theme for, oh, the rest of this week at least. Non-Deadly Heroics, in tune with yesterday being Talk Like a Pirate Day, explored the idea of alternate, non-heroic careers like, say, being a pirate. Fight Stuff became Flight Stuff for the day, although it was still on-brand because they were having a starfighter battle in the flight sim. And finally, Diplomacy tackled the fairly formidable task of making it through a super boring reception but, like, for spy purposes. While restricted to the worst short list of small talk subject matter ever. No notes for the Dorms, and the squirrels are still sad about it, but what can you do but move on to Town notes?

Sakaki discovered the cats at Furnado being extra loud and also dressed up as pirates for the day, complete with mutiny attempt. But Maya saved her from that, so it's fine. Summer had booze on special in a wise pre-Parents Weekend move at Turtle and Canary, where Liz came in to tell her that Prompto was back, having made some questionable facial hair decisions in his absence. Speaking of Prompto, he was getting back up to speed at Photo Hut before helping Liz with the groceries and coffee she brought back. Rosa was doing class prep work at Diaz & Ass., Nell was also doing the reacquainted-after-a-long-absence thing at Covent Garden Flowers where Watts came in and got caught up on what she was up to in the nine years she was gone on her end. Connor was working on a project at the museum when Michael the new guy came in because he had been promised a dinosaur to meet, which is to say Rex.

...I just casually talk about the dinosaur who hangs out at the museum on the radio. This is my life now. Amazing.

I'm super proud of the Magpie Emporium for taking the initiative and dressing itself up for Talk Like a Pirate Day, where Vi somehow managed to put up with me explaining that whole deal in a super obnoxious way. Raiden's Pizza Planetsupply order got kind of messed up and he had to get creative. Speaking of creative, Charlie paid for her pizza in sea shanties, Jane wondered about the theme -- which was 'got a Pennsylvania breakfast restaurant's order' in case you were wondering about the specifics -- and did not order the scrapple pizza, and Goose's never-had-a-sausage-pizza-before problem was immediately fixed when Raiden found out about it.

Steve McG was not having any of the pirate theme at the Trooper Station, tragically. The increasing supply of pumpkins at the Magic Box, on the other hand, were not having any of Eliot's objections that it isn't even October yet. Tiny was dressed like a pirate at the Devil's Nest, which went with the rum special. Marc was down for the rum but not the outfit, and talked about... let's just go with 'friends with benefits' and exes with Eric. Jaina had time to kill because her portal was late and came in for a drink and some catchup time with Eric, Jaskier told Eric about plotting revenge for... being kicked out of the bowling alley? Sure. Raiden came in and met Jaina, and -- wow, is there enough glitter on this note? Seriously. Herpes of the craft world. It's too much, Leroy.

*offended chittering*

Anyway. He flirted with Eric over the specials, and got flirted with by Jaskier who also explained that he's from a different world and didn't actually just get lost on his way home from Ren Faire. Which you have to differentiate around here.

And then -- whoa. A super messed up injured dude appeared at the causeway, but luckily Travis was out walking Probie and found the guy in time to get him to the clinic.

Where, it is extremely important to note, Stark discovered that Stabby had an eyepatch because he's a pirate crab-tain now.

This has been today's Stabby the Clinic Crab lore update... and also your Monday recap. I'll be back on air with you next Tuesday, kind Fandom listeners -- this is Steph, signing off and about to give a porg some drum tips.
