*chittering*
Jaskier: I have a guest with me today for reasons we will not get into at this juncture. *sound of hands clapping together* Well, it appears we've once again survived a strange weekend, haven't we?
Yennefer: I’ve no idea what you’re talking about. I absolutely did not burst into song at any point, no matter what anyone says.
Jaskier: ...of course not. And I'm not saying that simply being you are a terrifying sorceress or anything. Truly.
Yennefer: And don’t you forget it, or I’ll turn you into a newt.
*concerned chittering*
Jaskier: Uhhh. Yes, let's… just move onto the news!
Yennefer: At the school, Creative Writing wrote about “Things That Didn’t Happen,” which I believe is called fiction, Fuck Yeah Science--I can’t believe I just said that--went to space in hamster balls--can’t believe I said that either. Let’s Get Creative learned about mimicry, and The Art of Japanese blah blah blah was about awareness of the universe triggering deep and mysterious feelings. I know a combination of magical herbs that will trigger that feeling, as well.
Jaskier You do and you haven't shared that before now? I might actually like you if you did that! In the dorms we had Wayne doing his usual breakfast. Astrid was pleased to see a person cooking rather than animals. Nina having a lovely morning and seemed excited to get to her community center class. Jules was also there to greet the day. Shuri arrived and found out that Wayne was a secret prince over the weekend. Which seems like a stroke of luck, if you ask me.
Yennefer: Secret princes are more trouble than they’re worth.
Jaskier: Well, it would depend on how handsome they are, I'd say. Over in town, Beau was learning about typing while at the gym. Which we can say is a mental exercise, yes! Seivarden stopped in to rejoice in being normal over the weekend with Beau. After waking on the beach, Octavia made her way to Lucifer's place where she was greeted by the man in question as well as Duke.
Yennefer: At Turtle & Canary, Summer and Nina talked about types of salad, while at Diaz & Ass--oh, I see, Associates--Rosa had a deeply normal day. At Caritas, Seivarden oversaw a special on shots.
Jaskier: Diego over at the apartments--no, the other apartments--found that teasing his brother lead to a mess left for him, which Annie kindly helped him clean up while they discussed a mystery plant. Rey found herself quite sick of singing once she woke up, though Silver arrived in short order to check in and offer her comfort from the embarrassment. Oh, the glitter is well earned, squirrels.
Yennefer: You can keep the glitter well away from me, or you can end up a spell ingredient. At the clinic, Elli learned that most of the staff thought themselves princesses over the weekend, though she was mercifully spared. Steve was at the Trooper Station polishing his medals--is that a euphemism?
*chittering*
Yennefer: Are you sure?
Jaskier: It really ought to be a euphemism.
*more chittering*
Yennefer: Well, that’s boring. And at the Community Center, Nina’s class on castles was building walls. *heavy sigh* Also boring.
Jaskier: You'd never make it as a bard, you know.
Yennefer: Thank Melitele for that.
Jaskier: *affronted squawk* Well. At the Devil's Nest, Annie was also hiding from what she had done over the weekend. Which seems a touch dramatic, don't you think? It was just a bit of singing! Summer took the brunt of her embarrassment before the talk turned to dysfunctional family matters. The only kind there are, I assume, really. Jessica and her commiserated together over wearing poofy dresses and trying on shoes. That doesn't sound all that bad, honestly. Liam and his talking mice came to check in on her.
Jaskier: *deep inhale* Are we certain the oddities of the weekend ended for him?
Yennefer: Did the mice sing?
Jaskier: Notes are inconclusive.
Yennefer: That’s concerning.
Jaskier: Quite! Nick and Annie bonded over being from somewhere called the Midwest that sounds cold and terrible. Jessica made a point to assist Nick in his drinking while Summer checked in on him as her teaching buddy.
Yennefer: Is that all of it?
Jaskier: That's all! This has been Jaskier, your humble, resident Bard--
Yennefer: About as humble as you are talented, I should say.
Jaskier: And your resident witch, Yennefer of somewhere or other.
Yennefer: Sorceress.
Jaskier: I see no difference. Come, I'll square my debt to you with mimosas and we shall never speak of this again.
Yennefer: An excellent plan, minstrel. Lead the way.
