Fandom Radio; Thursday, November 1st.
Amaya: So, Summer. Tell us the squirrel story.
Summer: Ugh, Amaya, stop. There is no story. I was a squirrel, it was like a whole week, it was also, like, a week ago, get over it.
Amaya: Uh-huh. Of course. Well, we'll see about that. In the meantime, it looks like we do have notes. Should I take dorms?
Summer: Mmmm, there's a lot from that party, we'll split 'em this time.
Amaya: And then you'll tell me the squirrel story?
Summer: THERE IS NO SQUIRREL STORY, argh!
Okay, let's get started. SCHOOL! Humanoid Health and First Aid got to deal with some Halloween-flavored ER disasters, Mad Kings and Queens talked about Anna of Saxony, and Nailed It! made red wine caramel apples. Oooooh, want!
Amaya: Nothing on DORMS, at least not this week.
Summer: Then, in TOWN, at Pick your Poison, Sparkle was dressed as a younger version of himself and ready to hand out soap to trick-or-treaters, which is a terrible idea, unless Sparkle clearly just wants kids to eat soap. Kaidan showed up looking sharp as hell in his dress blues, and I'm with Sparkle, that's all you wear now, Kaidan, and they got to doing their nails and talking about ditching on the party. Ugh, why? Also, this just in, candy corn is garbage. Dr. Lecter also stopped by to see Sparkle, and his costume sparked a discussion on just how much Sparkle has chaaaanged over the years. Awww, character development!
Amaya: Kathy had some trouble sleeping and headed off island to help with that, and it was Fjord's day at the Forge today...
Summer: Real missed opportunity not saddling him with Fridays, Amaya.
Amaya: But he's at the bar Friday. Anyway, after I got to teaching him how to beat his sword--
*squirrel and Summer snickering*
--I have no idea why you all think that's funny, he's my apprentice, if I don't teach him how to beat his sword, who will?
Summer: Ohmygod.
Amaya: Anyway, as I was saying, after his lesson, Fjord got a visit from Fenris and they made plans to head on over to the mainland and take advantage of the fact that everyone's in costumes on Halloween, so they don't stand out as much.
Summer: Aww, that's kind of sad.
Amaya: But practical. Hernado elected to stay in tonight and invited Kaidan over for a game of poker, and Hernado disagrees about candy corn being garbage and suggests circus peanuts as the reigning garbage candy, and I don't understand half of what I just read, did you write these notes, Summer?
Summer: I gave some of the squirrels some lessons when I was a squirrel--
Amaya: That reminds me, Summer. What's the squirrel stor--
Summer: NO. Give me those. Anyway, I agree, circus peanuts are worse, and they also talked about how Hernando needs to stop worrying so much. And Sparkle's a dork and showed up 'trick-or-treating'. He got treats, and talked with Hernado about different kinds of pranks, and then, I shit you not, the words 'do ghost taste like pumpkin pie?' left someone's mouth, and neither of them seem very interested in licking ghosts, and I'm pretty sure there's some ghosts out there who are a little bummed out about that. And then they talked about things they can do through the winter, like spa days and getting high and skiing and shopping, and now they're talking my language.
Amaya: ...English?
Summer: You're getting sassy, you know. I think I'm rubbing off on you. There's hope for you yet, Amaya! And now we move onto there Halloween party at Mike's Appropriately Spooky Mansion! There was no lack of some sweet costumes as everyone arrived and mingled and that's when Brooke found out that Mike finally rented out one of his extra rooms--it is a mansion, people--in, quote, 'a very Fandom way,' which involves someone showing up with a newspaper with an ad that Mike never placed in a journal that no one realized existed.
Amaya: King Tony approved of Hardison's homemade Star-Spangled Captain America costume, as did Kitty, Miguel, and, of course, Steve, who also liked Éponine's bunny ears, and he also approved of Tony's costume, an appreciation that got...mushy. Very...mushy.
Summer: Soooooo mushy. Rosa and Octavia were bad ass bitches in too much leather being bad at conversations. Rosa's apparently a bit better at conversation once Miguel showed up to the leather party. Meanwhile, Verity and Mike caught up about how she totally found a dragon. A male dragon. Apparently, that's important. And then she was all cute with Liam about how great she looked, before also catching up with Miguel and wondering if she loses any points over it being a competition dress. And I was just over there feeling glad Miguel picked up what I was dropping with my costume. And then there's Amaya, being a total nerd, working at a party by taking an order from Zack for a new sword.
Amaya: I get all my best jobs at social gatherings. It wasn't all business, though; I also talked with Miguel about the prop for my costume. Tony needs to get a picture of Hardison and Clint-as-Tony together, and Clint compliments Tony and Steve's ability to have enough foreisght for an....ugh...couples costume.
Summer: I think it's cute! And I think Clint has had more important things to be planning than costumes right now! Like future costumes for his baaaaby, which he did discuss with Kitty. Karolina liked Clint's costume, too, even if it doens't also come with Tony's bank account, and he complimented her costume, and of course Steeeeeeve loved it, too.
Amaya: Zack wore his armor, which made Octavia wonder if it was genuine, and they shared their appreciation for such practical, functional apparral, which I can also agree with, before talking about how this place has too many holidays, which is...also something I agree with.
Summer: Not me! More holidays, please! Miguel learned about how Zack's costume was really his uniform, and Karolina introduced herself to Beau, because she's new, but it seems kind of counterinuitive to introduce yourself to a new person when you're dressed up and wearing a wig, Karolina, but once she found out just how new new Beau is, she launched into the good old welcome to your new weird home schpiel. Mike introducted Mitsutada to both Halloween and jello shots, and, ohhhh, Mitsutada, let me just tell you aaaalllll about jello.
Amaya: Mitsutada, don't. Also, I'm not entirely sure of the squirrels are offended or impressed that they're pretty sure Miguel made a pun about your costume, too. Sir Steve explained to Karolina that he won the coin toss, so King Tony got the crown, but none of his proclamations are legally binding, no matter what King Tony might believe.
Summer: Over by the snacks and beverage tables, New Kid on the Block Eddie Brock was pretty popular between what the squirrels call impressive binging on chocolate. Octavia asked him about the jello shots...too many people in this do not know about jello shots, and I am shook. But apparantly she wasn't a fan, because she doesn't get things flavored like other things, and, ooh! Those banana candies that are supposed to taste like banana but taste like death! New garbage candy contender! Thanks, New Guy Eddie! Also, Brooke introduced herself to Eddie, what with being his new housemate...mansionmate?'s...girlfriend and asked about the newspaper that no one realized or just plain forgot we had here, and got the scoop, get it??, on Eddie's whole deal. Verity also came to say hi to the fresh meat and asked about the whole ad that hadn't been printed yet thing, because news travels fast on this island and print media is dead!
And in the dark, shadowy corners, Liam was surprised to see Octavia there. At the party, that is. Not the dark, shadowy corners, I guess.
Amaya: And that does seem to get us to the end. So. Summer. Now that that's out of the way...when are you going to tell me the squirrel story?
Summer: There is no squirrel story! Is this payback for me bothering you about your squirrel story?
Amaya: I just want to know about it, all about the squirrel story.
Summer: THERE IS NO SQUIRREL STORY.
Amaya: Exactly. Not everything has to be a story, Summer.
Summer: Oh, what? Is this going to be a new thing, every radio's going to end with a little morality nugget of wisdom, huh, Amaya?
Amaya: Only when you've earned it.
Summer: Oh, please, ugh.
Amaya: Have a great day, everyone, be bold, and we'll see you again next week.
