Fandom Radio; Thursday, June 14.

Good morning, Fandom Island! It's Amaya Blackstone, back to reading the report on Wednesday and back to normal, thank the stars, and a big thank you to Gelatin Girl herself, Summer Smith, for covering for me last week when I was...er...um...not well. Feelin' fit as a fiddle this morning, though, so let's get to the news and, of course, the big summertime event yesterday!

In non-activity news, we had Peridot buried in her research in the library...almost literally!...at the SCHOOL, while the DORMS were pretty quiet. In TOWN, Sparkle was absolutely not testing out the make-up on his arm at Pick your Posion while Breq had some dancing gremlins at Groovy Tunes. At the C.I.C., Kaidan offered the raven some shiny copper coins as apology for trashing the place as over last weekend. Seivarden was not exactly pleased at a newly named menu item at the Perk, but she did get Kanan to help get the glitter out of her hair and they had an actual civil conversation, which the squirrels seem pretty excited about. Reports say there was even smiling, if you can imagine that.

And, with that, we're onto the games! This week's activity involved building a craftwork catapult, even though we all know that trebuchets are the superior seige weapons. The food vendors were back, with some improved options from last week, much to the enjoyment of those who arrived and mingled bit before the event go into full swing. Dr. Lecter had a book for Cristina, though it didn't do much to make her feel better about bein' stuck on the island, and he also complimented Astrid's drawings, though she didn't seem very interested in talking much.

Then everyone grouped up and got to work. Group One - Peter, Paris, Kitty, and Norman - were smart about considering that the weight of the hurled object was more important than the height and were also smart about most not wanting to win anyway, with...one hold out. The squirrels here say you can probably guess who that hold out was.

Group Two - Kanan, Dr. Lecter, Liam, and Astrid - were just glad is wasn't macramé...and then proceeded to use macramé.

Group Three - Jono, Rosa, Sabine, and Gratuity - had the adults supervising while the students worked it out, though one of the adults was significantly more helpful than the other. The squirrels here say you can probably guess who the not-helpful one was.

Group Four - Zack, Cristina, Ahsoka, and Verity - had science and heavy lifting and Ahsoka's catapult building experience to get things going.

Group Five - Steve, Bobby, Cara, and Miguel - agree that the activity is a bit ridiculous, which I disagree with wholeheartedly, considerin' I used it in one of my own classes, but, sure, whatever you say, Group Five. I guess if you wanna just keep throwin' people at targets instead...whatever gets the job done.

Group Six - my group, with Hera, Rey, Uma, Sidon, and myself - started out with a plan, but we were ultimately foiled by hot glue guns.

Then came the time to fire the object and see who gets closest to the target, and I really don't approve of Beaker bein' called an object. But he really didn't mind it, as Group Two discovered, and, to a point, Group Six, though I don't think Hera and me ever really felt comfortable with the idea. Group Three went in with guns...or at least Sabine's glitter bombs... a'blazin'.

In the end, however, only one group could be victorious, and that group would be Group Two. So congratulations to Kanan, Dr. Lecter, Liam, and Astrid on your...fortuitous win and your brand new hellfish. May it not bring you too many nightmares.

And that's it for me this week. See ya next time, listeners. Barring nothing too weird happening again, of course!
