"Hello, Fandom. I'm Vala Mal Doran and I'll be your broadcaster this evening. As a word of warning, if one more [microphone feedback] squirrel shows up with a ream of paper covered in almost illegible notes, I'm going to start shooting."
*sounds of skittering, then a gun safety being released*
"I wasn't kidding."
School: It's not an invasion, it's newbie arrival weekend
LEE: "Look, I have no frakking idea what you want, you frakking squirrels, but shoving a wad of paper in my hands and herding me towards this building and who the frak is she?"
*chittering*
"Shut up. Fine, right. Read the lines. Yeah, there was a picnic today. I was there. And apparently, some of you used to really like my arms. I still have those nice arms, you know. There's siblings meeting. Jeff looks for someone named Ino and is flaily in the process. Dick, which is a frakking terrible name, looks for someone named Cher and fills her in on witches, vampires and aliens. This school is great, really. Naomi looks for Honor, Meg finds Bridge and admires his hair, which can't be nearly as nice as John Sheppard's, and River finds Bo and breaks his brain. I hope she didn't actually break his brain or my father really does hate me by sending me here. Neville met someone named Z...and the rest of her name is missing. John Sheppard looked for me and then found me and insisted on holding my hand."
"Hoshi met someone named Sam and wants to know if there are Vulcans at the school. Sam has no idea. Jack Burton met someone named Dean and the lady in here is wearing a lot of leather. I'm not staring though! Victoria, oh wait, that's Victor, blows off meeting his sibling. Nice. Neil meets Zim, Andrew waits for his sibling, Blackheart, complete with sign. I didn't get a sign. John, how come I didn't get a sign? Harry finds Marco and Marco tells him about Umbridge, Anathema looks for her big sibling, Luke waited to meet Adah, Eve looked for someone called Haruhi, and Sora met Robin."
"And then there's roommate bonding. That doesn't include dropping frakking boots on people, HARRY. Neville met Victoria, who just scoffed a lot, Peter wants to know if Mac can help with fashion choices and they should really ask this lady in here. Telling you, LEATHER. Harry is a giant frakking pebblehead, Hoshi met Abigail, Qui-Gon wants to know if Sora plays the drums, and Bo tells Cher all about his car."
"Vipers beat cars anyday."
"Anathema looked for Blackheart, Jack Burton looked for Wyatt but Wyatt's looking for him elsewhere, Ino looks for Haruhi, and Rikku admires Kerrigan's rifle."
"For some reason, that made these squirrel things laugh. Why? Billy wants to know if Kerrigan is a teacher or security, Ares is looking for minions and I volunteer Harry for that job, Emma's showing off her goods, whatever the frak that means, to everyone, Barney's on the prowl for hot chicks, all right, and Namine congratulates Harriet, not my frakking rooomate Harry, on her new position. Chuck's there to meet people, John Winchester's there with a baby named Grace and then someone comes and borrows Grace. The kid is borrowable? What? Vala is perched on a table and I hope you were wearing leather for that too."
"I love leather."
"Wilson's there to meet new people, Rikku hugs Lulu, Deadpool is there and glaring at Arashi, Kabuto smiles at Arashi and then Arashi is suspicious and the paranoia is high at this school, isn't it? Rikku also hugs Deadpool and Billy wants to know if Deadpool's going to scare the kids. Anakin lurks, my arms are still nice people. Room 315, stop on by and laugh at my roommate and check out my arms. Tim Taylor checks out Billy's artificial leg and that just sounds frakking weird."
"Leather leather leather. Better. Bob's there and gets a thumbs up from Rikku. Arashi's there, dressed as ninja and I was dressed as a pilot. Special, huh? Sora thinks he recognizes Squall but Squall tells him he's frakking wrong, Namine talks to Steve about her summer, Steve and Jean Paul each thought the other was dead and Deadpool is also surprised to see Jean-Paul."
"And now the squirrels are telling me to leave and can't I just stay here and watch the lady finish the broadcast? Come on. Oh, frak off stupid animals. Go marry Hedgwig."
*sounds of someone leaving*
VALA: "What the [microphone feedback] was that? No, I mean, seriously. They're just pulling people off the street now? Oh, whatever."
"Still at the picnic that never ends, Dean told Jo that she has a double. She immediately assumes that her double is evil. I can't blame you, Jo. I mean, did you ever meet Aeryn? All I'm saying is that it's possible. Billy was also there, waiting to be roped into Jo's plot. River and Buffy prepared their new student harassm--er, recruitment--posters for dancing and cheerleading, Karal and Altra were very--and I quote--lurky, and he and Jaina got very nostalgic about their three months of Fandom experiences. Yes. Three months. Obviously it was very poignant, and me without my stringed instrument."
"River tried to convince Karal and Meg to join her for dancing. Sam gets Meg and Jo confused and is preparing to sue Dean for slander. Or something. This Meg person must be truly stunning, because both Billy and Robin are content just to be near her. Neville did some shirtless (but not undershirtless) toad wrestling, I think, and River greets him, then freaks him out by telling him Cedric is here. I have no idea why that's a big deal. Just saying."
"Sheppard, that stud, compliments Neville's toad, then they compare cultures. Hermione managed to calm Neville down, until she said something that set him off again--geez, high strung kid--and Robin greeted Neville, but not his toad. Which seems rude, if you ask me, not that you did. Naomi and Billy discuss brain breaking the new kids. Meg ran into Buffy and her poster and was very excited to find out that we have a cheerleading squad, then asks about the gremlins. They're the mascot, Meg. See, I can be helpful, too!"
"Dean introduced Buffy to Grace--oh, nice use of child prop there, Mister Winchester--and Luke checked up on Buffy's cheerleading progress and that none of the new students are related to him. Adam complimented Buffy's poster. Sheppard got into some kind of conversation with Jo, and I don't know what it was about, but they both ended up shirtless at the end of it. Meg was next on Sheppard's hit parade, though she was just trying to find Dick. No luck, though. Sheppard's harem acquired a brunette when River tried to convince him to dance shirtlessly while covered in glitter. River, you have some strange kinks, though I'm told the dancing itself was very sweet."
"Billy greeted Willow. Lee didn't drink his drink, but he did get checked out and shirtlessed by Jo. Yes, that's a word. No, you can't find it in a dictionary. Dictionaries limit language. Buffy confused Lee even more when she tried to recruit him for cheerleading and didn't succeed at glittering him. Would he have been less confused if he'd been glittered? Inquiring minds want to know! River ended up chasing him with her poster, and wow, sorry, Lee, whomever you are. Luke tried to be helpful and explained that it was okay for Lee to drink his drink. Maybe he thought it was a cultural thing?"
"Liz was there. Henry and Annette discussed classes, and Carmela met Hoshi. You know, I thought I finally had everyone's names straight, and now I'm confused again. Who are these people? Maybe you could wear nametags for a few more days, just to help a teacher out?"
"Hoshi was listening to the crowd until she and River started discussing what you could learn from peoples' dialects. Naomi introduced herself to Hoshi, as did Adam and Billy. Johnny Storm and Isabel were pro-shirtlessness for the newbies, I'm assuming, and Meg gave Isabel the third degree about who she was and what she was doing here. Isabel also got River's poster of dancing propaganda shoved in her face."
"Annette told Dick she was going home for the weekend. Hoshi asked Johnny Storm about the dress code--since when do we have a dress code? Anyone know? Johnny approves of River's new hobby as a dancing queen." *sighs* "And now we're at the weird and grumpy part of the program, possibly instigated by Jo, who tried to convince Victor von Doom that shirtlessness was compulsory. Hermione snapped at him for being mean to his new roommate, Robin introduced himself to Victor, and so does Rikku. I have a bad feeling about this."
"Dean had his sister with him, and he used her to bond with Meg, who also has a sister named Grace. Sam wandered over at some point, and they got into a 'discussion' about hair and minor insults. Inara told River she wouldn't dance topless, and commisserated with Robin about no longer being a new student. Andrew offered food to Annette and got hi'ed by Adam. Luke is depressed because his women left town."
*clearing throat* "Right."
"Cher met Sheppard and found out about the zombies, then she met Grace and Dean, talked to Luke about his maturity, ignored Billy, hallucinated Robin, and was very confused by Rikku. Don't worry, Cher, happens to everyone."
"Hermione relaxed--no, really, Marco was just there for the food, as were Eve and Adam, although he also took a few minutes to check up on Luke, who was still trying to recover from seeing Jo shirtless. I'm so telling your mother, young lady, except for the part where I told all of Fandom instead. Go, me. Summer has a soda and looks for someone, Billy wore shorts and a t-shirt so he could impress people with his tattoo and artificial limb, and Kabuto and Ino Yamanaka sniffed at each other, after Kabuto asked Ino if he--she?--was the gardener. Fun. I probably would have shot someone instead of sniffing, but that's me."
*sounds of a door opening*
Zoe: "Okay, Grace, this is the radio studio. This is where the radio announcers come in to talk about everything that happened during the day. When the new students come, we bring the radio people something nice to drink, so they don't go crazy and run away from the island."
*chittering noises*
"Aw, look, the squirrels are here. Can you say hi to the squirrels?"
Grace: *gurgles*
Zoe: "That was as close to a hello as you're getting right now, I'm sorry."
*more chittering noises*
"Hey, stop shaking your papers at me, I'm only here to drop off boo--something for Vala to drink."
*louder chittering*
"Get down! So help me, if you scratch my child, I will be eating squirrel stew tomorrow, do I make myself clear?"
*quieter chittering*
"That's better. Now, what, you want me to read these? Fine, but that means I'm keeping the drinks for myself."
At another
area of the picnic, Dawn was dressed
like a gypsy and offering to verify rumors for five cents. I certainly hope these were honest verifications, and not an attempt to further confuse the new students on their very first day in a new place. Hoshi
told Dawn about the Starfleet, and about being from the future. To Hoshi, and any other students who might have arrived from a later time, I assure you, the lack of certain advanced technologies here gets easier to deal with over time. Cher
and Dawn agreed that Fandom is weird, and then fought over the nickel fee.
Oh, look Grace, you're in the notes too. Sam
brought Grace by to see Dawn, and she promised to teach her how to date boys. Then Dean
came by, and was suspicious of Dawn's cookies. I don't think I'm liking these notes very much, Miss Summers. Buffy
showed Dawn her posters, River
asked her for help with something, and Anemone
said she wished Dawn had set up something similar when she'd arrived. I suppose learning as much about the school as possible on the first day is better than never learning anything at all. Sokka
told Dawn that no one will believe her. Not until they see the first wave of jello dragons for themselves, I'm afraid. Rikku
offered to help Dawn with her rumor verifying, and Billy
thought Dawn was brilliant, while Luke
told her she was being mean.
[long microphone feedback]
"Grace, no! The microphone is not for eating! Ahem. Savannah
told Anathema all about the co-ed dorm arrangements, Cher
complimented her on her healthy eating habits, and she earned a nod
from Billy, and a welcome
from Robin. In addition, Willow
and Anathema discovered they have a common love of spreadsheets. Ladies, school doesn't start until Monday. Save the spreadsheet excitement until then or you might run out before the semester is over.
Johnny
Blaze wisely warned Bo to stay away from the internet, and Robin
met Bo as well. Eve
milled through the crowd to check out the new students, and Sokka
and Anemone discussed what kind of warnings to give the new students. May I suggest starting with "Don't go into Special
Collections?" Just a thought. Lee
checked to make sure Jaina wasn't carrying glitter so he wouldn't have
to kiss any boys. Ah, I see we were starting with the important rumors
today. Billy
and Anemone considered the pros and cons of handing out sanity
medication to the new students, and Anemone
and Namine discussed how no one believes how strange Fandom is until they see it for themselves. It's funny how some people never seem to remember their own disbelief from when they were new. Carmela also gave Anemone advice on Fandom. It's nice to know the students are so helpful."
Kabuto
told Troy that he's not much of the school spirit type, which probably puts him among the majority of the student body. Anders
and Z discussed how to cause the new students trauma, which is not a radio note that I should ever have to see or hear again, thank you very much. Anders
also met Lee, who is not the same Lee that he previously knew here, and agreed to go out on a date with Troy
tomorrow, to go running. Demyx
caught up with Anders and discussed his summer with Z.
Sora
and Dean discussed fighting monsters, which is something I am hoping no one will have to do this semester, and it seems that Demyx
and Sora already know each other, although Sora remembers killing Demyx. Why do I have a very strong feeling that this conversation is going to be reprised in my office at some point?
Kabuto
scanned the crowd of people, and Anemone
told Rikku that they need to sing the Cuban Pete song to the new
students. Can I suggest also teaching the new students the song, and performing it for the Vice Principal? It will make for a lovely start to his school year, I'm sure. Luke
welcomed Rikku back, and Robin
asked Namine if she'd met any of the new students yet, before breaking out into a serenade.
John
Sheppard explained the term "newbie" to Faile, and told her about his new little sibling, and Demyx
was simply happy to be back. I'm happy that all of you are back as well, and I look forward to meeting all of the new students over the next few weeks, especially if we're not meeting because you're in trouble. That seems to be all of the notes that the squirrels shoved at me, so I'm going to get out of here while I can. Can you say good night, Grace?
Grace: *gurgles happily*
Zoe: Good girl.
*sounds of a door opening, then closing again*
Vala: "Wow. Okay, welcome back to our principal and her delightful offspring. Thank you for not being your predecessor. New people? Ask your big siblings about that. I'm sure they're dying to tell you. Oh, and this just in from a squirrel on crutches: Harry and Hermione squee at each other about being from the same dimension, then he meets Sheppard and they compare hair stylists (or lack thereof), and Anemone offered cookies to Harry, along with some advice. Honor was looking for Naomi at the picnic and Turtle looked around for Victor, not knowing that he'd already left."
"Hooray to being done with the picnic. No more of these, please. You're cramping my social life."
Dorms: Thank you for playing "what do you mean, you're my roommate?"
"Oh, but wait. There's more. Karal? You'll be delighted to know that the squirrels reported on your morning snuggliness with Molly. Seely and Aravis did as well, though it's my understanding that it wasn't quite as snuggly and she needed a hug. Dib and Zim met in their room and are reportedly on their way to becoming fast friends."
"Will and Teddy discussed the newbies from the safety of their room, presumably without meeting any. Interesting approach. Chad wasn't feeling up to his usual standard, so he spent the day with Teddy, reading his comic books. Sora arrived in Fandom--welcome to the club, Sora--and ran into a very surprised or excited Naminé. Savannah and Johnny hung out in their room and debated whether they should check on Anders. I'm going to assume that's a no, since I don't see any notes about cheering him up here. Dick and Annette hung out before she left for the weekend, discussing the new students. Of course. Naomi did some unpacking and organizing."
"In less ADA-compliant news, Adah had some problems with the stairs to her room, but Ronan helped her out. Good for you, Ronan. You get today's gentleman award. Karal was at the stables after his morning snuggle, talking to a very excited Trenor and waiting for Beauty, who showed up with her horse. Harry and Lee sniped at each other, until Harry levitated a boot and dropped it on Lee's head. Congratulations, boys. Best first day ever. Just...don't talk to each other or something. "
Town: Not nearly as many students around
"Happily, the clinic was quiet for both Christian in the morning and Wilson in the evening. Caritas was also quiet, but that didn't stop Tino from being displeased that Ellen was in a sling."
"Leo opened the Photo Hut, Moist burned some mail over at the Post Office, and Roy was in at the Trooper Station. Over at the MCA, Xander welcomed new people, like Jean Paul and Lulu, who discussed living arrangements among themselves before talking to Xander, who managed not to talk directly to the unbelievable cleavage."
"Lulu and Jean Paul? I don't know who you are, but welcome to Fandom, with its complete lack of privacy and outside entertainment."
"Mary opened the Arms Hotel and chatted with Stan. Over in the Park, there was a flash of blue light, then a person. Which isn't my preferred method of travel, but maybe not everyone wants to travel inside a spaceship. River and Kerrigan met, but didn't say much to each other. Kerrigan also met Deadpool. She thought he was military and he told her that Weapon X could kiss his [microphone feedback], so I'd say they're going to be best friends forever. Or at least win the monthly Fandom non-sequitur contest."
"We don't really have one of those, do we? I told you I wasn't joking around. Get away from me with those notes."
*sounds of shots being fired*
"Anyway, Roy also came over to investigate what was going on with Kerrigan. Kerrigan--who according to this is my kind of people--settled in to her new living arrangements at 25 Unicorn Street. Welcome! Lulu arrived--which I think we knew already, unless we now have more than one Lulu to go with our multitude of Johns--and met both John Winchester and Grace. No mention of Lulu's death by cuteness, but I hear that was a possibility. Deadpool snuck up on Yondaime in an attempt to...gel his...y'know what? None of my business. Moving on."
"That's everything, unless I forgot something. And if I did, feel free to look through the notes on the floor of the radio station until you find what you're looking for. If you don't want to do that, then you can do the broadcast next time. Thanks again to my unnamed special reporter. I'm going to get a drink. Night!"
[ooc: Huge thanks and booze to the radio squirrels of extreme awesomeness! Special thanks to my guest hosts
stupid_toasters and
bigdamndean who made it so I could get to bed sometime tonight!]
*sounds of skittering, then a gun safety being released*
"I wasn't kidding."
